I had an extremely frustrating experience at this shop. After feeling dismissed during a phone call, I booked an online appointment that was never confirmed. When I arrived, I was completely ignored. The staff then told me there was no parking, which led me to struggle to find a street spot for an hour. When I finally returned, I was informed that the parking spot was not close enough to the shop (it was only five minutes away) and that they wouldn't assist until I moved my car again, across the street. I felt insulted and disrespected. Nobody there seemed nice. They clearly didn't care about their customers nor treated them with the respect they deserved. YIELD A well displayed signage of "New York State Inspection pass or fail $37.00" informs clients of the fee incurred, yet without giving status to prevent eternal waiting. The waiting area is in a dilapidated yet outdated state of disrepair. STOP There is no gold here if one is seeking to touch objects in hopes of turning to gold. When I looked, I can see I had about 1/4" meat left on my rear pads and O showed him that, but he walked away from me. Im not a novice about mechanical issues, ive done my own brakes a few times amongst other things when I had a garage full of tools. He didnt even properly put the truck on the lift to prove it or properly check. He rudely walked away from me when I told him I see pad. Don't bother. My tire maintenance light went off and figured I'd go to a new place instead of my mechanic. I called earlier in the week to find out the cost of a tire rotation and then made an appointment for Saturday. Appointments are in window blocks. I arrived about 5 mins after my appointment window ended (lazy Saturday) and when my husband went in the guy had an attitude and said they don't make appointments for Saturday and it's Saturdays are always crazy. Tell that to Midas since I didn't it on their website. Then when we asked him for his address he make some smart ass comment to him. When my husband came to tell me to pull in and I asked him what happened I said no and we left. There's no need for us to pay anyone for a service who acts like that. The technician who performed my wheel alignment on my Buick approached his task with precession and persistence and patience in order to get the most accurate results out of the use their machine used to perform 4 wheel alignment. We went to a different mechanic who gave us a list of things, at crazy prices, that we needed done. We've been to this Midas before so we stopped by to get a second opinion. Gene got us in to a mechanic right away. We knew we needed some work done but it wasn't nearly as bad as the first mechanic said. The Midas guys were awesome. They listened to everything, read the list of needs and prices from the other place, and got us in and out in less than an hour. And the price? So much less. The guys at Midas didn't try and fleece us. They worked on what we needed and didn't try to oversell products we didn't need ($95 for brake fluid?! Walked in asking for an oil change I was told it would be 1&1/2 hour wait or come back. I left and went back. When I asked the price I was told $34.95. I said YOUR sign says $19.99, I was then asked if I has a coupon? I said no your sign says $19.99. He asked me again if I had a coupon???? I said no but did have a different company coupon and was told "not in the U.S. " (that doesn't even make any sense) I needed an oil change so I said just do it. I was told it would be 45min. Needed a wheel alignment and went here on a friend's recommendation. I called first to make sure they could fit me in. Gene at the service desk was very personable. The wait was as expected on a Saturday afternoon. I could actually watch the mechanic work on my car. Although the process is mainly automated, his manual input is required. He seemed intentional, attentive and effecive with no sign of end of the day fatigue. I'm pleased witht he result, the service and the price. I'm happy that I went here. Over the weekend, I discovered that my A/C unit had totally shut down. When I turned it on, absolutely nothing happened. BIG problem for me with hot weather coming, as well as a problem on a damp, rainy day like we had this weekend. I was forced to keep the windows partially open to prevent the windshield from fogging up. And the rain came in. So I showed up at 7:30 this morning with no appointment. Robert said he would take care of it. I also told him to do an oil change too, as it was just about due. I left the car and had it back by 11:30. The A/C worked like a charm. It was cold enough to snow in the car, just the way I like it. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Fast, reliable service at a reasonable price. Can't do better than that. read more

Great service ! Went for a wobble after 60 mph they balanced my tires . Still had the wobble after I left , I came back a few days later they checked it and found out it was a slightly bent rim . I ordered a new rim after a week went back and they changed out the bent rim . Only got charged the first time I went the two times after that I wasn't charged which was great ! I read Tina C.'s review here, All I can say is that it was more stylistic than factual (read some of her other reviews). This week my son wrote me a note saying, "Dad, the tailpipe broke off of the muffler. PS: I didn't do it!" I read a few reviews of muffler shops in the area, and (despite Tina's cranky review) decided to give Midas a shot. I scheduled my appointment for a Saturday via the Internet. Within a few hours they responded back confirming the appointment. I took my 1994 Nissan Pathfinder in a little early, and they were expecting me. They put it up on the hoist immediately, and within 10 minutes I had a quote. I can't speak to the comparative cost, since I haven't had to have a muffler replacement for at least 10 years. However, the Nissan Pathfinder has a combination muffler/tailpipe assembly that retails for $256. They charged me $350 total (with labor and taxes), so I think that it was pretty good. I am sure they got the assembly for less than retail, but that's O.K. Don, the manager, was very friendly. The mechanic was a little grumpy, but I only saw him for a couple of minutes total. They kept me posted on the time it would take, updating me every 15 min or so. I watched the NotreDame vs. Pitt football game while I waited in a clean air conditioned waiting room. They finished the job in a little over an hour (even while waiting for parts). He even gave me a $20 discount just for the heck of it. They didn't leave a mess in the car (like Pep Boys always does). They didn't rip my upholstery (like my local mechanic did). It was seamless. I enjoyed it. Ahhhhh! An A+ from me. read more

I recently installed aftermarket suspension in my car (coilovers). I also had a rear camber kit installed (two lower camber arms in my 2006 Honda Accord) and a front camber arm with adjustable ball joint. I needed an alignment badly toe was horrible and car was swerving everywhere, and I didn't want to drive it far to get an alignment. I went into the shop and the guy at the front desk was very helpful and said that they could align it no problem and would let me know if there would be an additional labor rate because of my aftermarket components (I know its a bit more work to adjust them). I agreed with it and they drove my car onto the rack (very low-friendly rack as there is no-ramp, its a scissor lift system). As soon as its on, one mechanic seemed very enthusiatic to work on it, as he'd never seen these components. Another guy, who was helping him align my car, just kept cursing and saying I put this aftermarket stuff, yadda yadda, and shaking his head the whole time. I was already worried since the guy at the front desk they are pros at aligning cars with aftermarket parts, but the mechanics were looking at it like it was a puzzle. After about an hour, my car was ready. It drove a lot better than before but I knew something wasn't 100% right. I work in NJ and on my commute there, anything above 50mph my rear end was starting to break loose. VERY DANGEROUS! I was puzzled since they gave me a printout and the specs were within the proper range. I ended up going to Sears in Jersey City as I didn't want to risk my life. Sears was $80 (vs. $110 at Midas) and they showed me the before picture with the rear toe terribly out of spec on both sides and the front camber was off. The guy at Sears got it to spec and I test drove the car and everything has been perfect. Cliff Notes: STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE AFTERMARKET SUSPENSION COMPONENTS! read more

Came back from a long road trip and I noticed that my brakes were grinding. Got tired of taking my car to the dealer every time the brakes would start to act up. I have an Infiniti FX and that model is known for regular wear and tear on the brakes. A flaw in the early design models. I've taken my prior car to Midas for their lifetime guarantee on the pads so I figured it would be a smart idea to get the lifetime for this vehicle as well. I knew going in that it wouldn't be a cheap job. When you drive a luxury vehicle you know how it goes with maintenance costs. From the sound and grind of the brakes I knew they were really worn. The guys at the front counter were really nice and very accommodating. I had made an appointment earlier in the week and came in a bit before my scheduled time. No problem. They had my car up on a lift and ready for inspection in no time. One of their mechanics took the time to show me the problems and go over every detail of the work that needed to be done. I needed all 4 pads and all 4 rotors replaced--not surprised, plus a new left rear caliper and hose. Like I said, I knew it was going to be an expensive job so I was not shocked with the $1200 price tag. The dealer would have charged the same amount but without a lifetime on the pads. I asked them if I needed to leave the car overnight but they assured me they could have it ready in a couple hours. The service here was better than I expected plus the guy at counter gave me his card and told me I could call him anytime if I had any questions or problems. So far so good. read more

I ordered new tires via tirerack.com and personally called up location prior to ordering tires to confirm pricing for installation. I spoke with a Robert over the phone who quoted me $129 after I gave him my specifics regarding my vehicle. I asked why there was such a price difference from the online price which was $85 and he asked me where is that price and I informed him on tirerack.com. He replied , we give them a discount so the $85 is the correct price. I said ok I will order the tires. My tires were delivered the next day and I brought my car to the shop. I waited an 1hr and 20min for a guy to mount and balance my tires to then have a gentleman named Jean charge me $120. I informed him the price I was quoted was $85 online and over the phone by Robert. He told me the price didn't cover disposal fee for tires which I corrected him that it did and showed him. He responded price increased due to inflation and taxes(which also was included on online quote). Anyway he said he would deduct $10 or I can keep my old tires if I didn't want to pay. I paid the new price of $110 which was $25 more than the online price just to be done with it. When the guy pulls out my car, I inspect my tires and all four tires were placed on the vehicle incorrectly. I voice my observation to which one worker states it doesn't matter it's still good. After some insistence the shop acknowledges the guy installed them incorrectly and I wait another hour until he reinstall's them correctly. Now I'm debating whether I should go to another shop to insure he mounted and balanced them correctly. I will be writing to tirerack.com regarding this experience and I hope in the future this review will help someone make a more accurate decision regarding this shop. I will not be going back to this shop ever. read more
