I stopped by this afternoon. I needed air in my tires. Unfortunately I'm really not sure how to do that. Which is rather embarrassing. I also had knee surgery recently, so kneeling to get to the tires, wasn't something I could easily do. I stopped by this Midas location and was fortunate enough to speak with Joe, who is at the front desk. He kindly filled my tires with air. He did not charge me. It was very kind and generous of him to do especially on a day that was extremely hot and humid. When you first walk in to the location, it is actually quite nice. Very clean and has lots of beautiful plants. It really is a nice atmosphere. Not like the usual dirty car repair place. While I was waiting, I noticed magazines in the waiting area. They had a great selection of magazines and they were up-to-date. It seems common that magazines that are available are usually outdated and several years old. Highly recommend! read more

I took my son's Kia Forte5 here to have them look at the muffler. We had already been to a local shop that quoted us over $1100 to replace the muffler because this car was not made very many years and there are no after market parts to be found, only dealer. That part is true - Midas confirmed. However, Midas was able to repair it, which the other shop said was not possible. Midas originally quoted $400, which we were fine with as it was less than half of replacing it. However, they were able to get us out the door for $298. Very nice & honest and they saved my son so much money! Highly recommend. read more

I spoke to the assistant manager and ask what the price would be for a new shocks and springs for my 2001 Pontiac firebird TA and he quoted $3500.00... WTF.. keep in mind this the same product that you put on a ford, Chevrolet or Toyota... cheap stuff. So, I looked into performance shops who installed high performance products and an got torsion bar as well for $2723.00... that's called a deal and fair price for what I got. Don't waste your money over paying for their crappy cheap stuff and paying through the Nose.... shop around. read more

I was told to go here from a close friend . I called location . Spoke with Brian. He was concerned on my vehicle situation and said to bring it in right away . He would make a garage bay available for my car. I went in for wheel alignment, oil change , all sensor lights lit up on dash, and to check all suspension parts. Vehicle was very low on oil , suspension was not feeling correct and all warning lights were on before I brought vehicle in . Brian met me at doorway and went over vehicle with me . He said no worries you'll be in the road soon . He was able to align vehicle properly, change oil , turn all warning lights off, and note that all suspension parts are working properly. 7:30 am, I'm on my way out the door to an appointment. My tire pressure light is on, I assume it just needs some air. Start driving and the steering wheel is shaking. Pull over to check, it's about to blow. I'm panicking, I can't miss this appointment and I don't know anything about tire replacement. Not to mention, I have a job interview this afternoon. No appointments available until this afternoon which obviously won't work. I call and the store manager, Brian, tells me to swing by and he will take care of it. I make my appointment in the morning and my car is ready with 4 new tires and an alignment by the time I'm done. I cannot thank him and his team enough for taking care of me this morning. At one time I liked this place. But one time I took it in and asked them to look at a noisy brake. Told me I needed new rear brakes at a price of approx 500ish. I said no take the car down. Then they came back with a lower price (???), so I said fine. The took a long time, finished the rears and I was on my way. Pulled out was going down the road, noise was there again. BUYER BEWARE!! These guys are the worst. A $30 oil change turns into an $800 repair on both fenders of my sons car because their "tech" improperly used the lift. Then they have the audacity to deny it. Even got the so called District Manager involved who also denied it. I always have a pleasant experience at Midas. Brian the manager is very personable (not sales pushy). The waiting area is very organized and clean (with coffee and free wi-fi). They always lets me know areas that are ready for maintenance per the mileage on my car but never pushes those services on me if I decide to wait. Turns out I couldnt get the cap off of my oil filter because I dont have the right tools. I actually took the car back and he showed me how to get it off. I know he was a little annoyed that he had to do it, but he was willing. I felt foolish but now confident to take the ban back there any time... Thanks! read more

They're the other guys and so it appears, at least in my case, they have to try harder and they have to price accordingly. I had to have my wheel and hub bearings replaced. They did it fast and less than firestone and Goodyear. Service was fast and quote was unchanged. read more

Upon bringing my car to this location I was told I would need a replacement gasket on my transmission pan. After the gasket was in place my car started leaking transmission fluid. After bringing my car back and being told multiple reasons why it was leaking I was told I could drive it, which I did to another mechanic. It took the mechanic about 2 minutes to realize there was a large mark in the shape of a hammer and a large crack, it was obvious I was lied to by the midas technicians and manager. The midas technician admitted to using a hammer to try and loosen the pan, and he further admitted to the fact that it could have been a crack from trying to remove the pan. I was also informed it was dangerous for them to let me drive the car, and it was a miracle the transmission didn't give out when I started driving. To top it off, the original gasket was not even supposed to be replaced per manufacturer spec! My transmission is now garbage, I will be spending several thousand dollars to repair my car, and I won't have any transportation for the holidays. Horrible people here, stay away. read more

This location is great! I came in because my car was overheating when it idled only. They were very honest up front with the different costs to check it out and what they thought I might I have to pay on diagnostic alone. The fix was easy and cheap and I only had to pay a few dollars over the diagnostic - they didn't try to get me with hidden costs of things I don't need like some shady places. Overall, very friendly, fast service, and the big one for me...super upfront and honest. I just moved to an area 30 mins north of this location and happened to be in the area when I got serviced. They have my business for life. The 30 minute drive is worth it. read more

This shop has done nothing but be very upfront and honest with me and my car needs. Being a single female going into auto shops you kinda feel like you are being taken but not here! Over the summer, they brought me out into the bays to show me exactly what was wrong with my car and what needed to be done to my car. And my most recent visit they diagnosed my problem and what needed to be done. Each time they explained in detail what needed to be done and how long it would take. And they delivered when promised each time! Really, if you need someone to look at your car besides the higher priced car dealership auto shop. I had my break drum replaced at this place recently. They did a wonderful job. I went back a month later for break issues again and they quickly diagnosed it to be a warranty issue with the drum they replaced earlier. Manager Greg was very courteous and explained things to me. Got my warranty item fixed in a timely manner. I don't know why reviews are bad from others. I am writing this review so others know about the great experience i had. Otherwise it's not fair to them. People have a tendency to write reviews only when things go bad and that's not right. I highly recommend you to try this place again, if you had bad experience before. I have gone three times here for oil changes and other work. It was great experience every time. There'll always be surprises in auto repair due to nature of things involved. My wife went in for an alternator issue, they were professional, but even with the alleged discount it still cost $476.00 parts and labor. I am grateful it was done promptly, but, I priced Toyota and they were cheaper overall. Cost of alternator part was ~50.00 + higher at midas. If I wasn't concerned that wife would stall out, running car off of battery only, the dealer would have been a substantial cost savings. They were great to deal with though, but pricier. read more

I went in for a plug/patch for a tire. They told me they couldn't patch it and I would need a new tire. I was given a recommendation for two new tires since the front was a little warn. I knew better and went down the street to Firestone. Drove off with a patched tire and at a cheaper price Midas was charging. Don't trust this Midas touch! They try to take advantage of their customers and only care about their commission. All I needed as a plug and a tire rotation ($40), they tried to get me for two new tires ($220). read more

While replacing/upgrading my exhaust system myself, I was unable to get the bolts off of the down pipes. I was quoted $400 for the removal of 6 bolts, including drilling out one with a busted head. Because I needed the job done same day, and the other service centers I called could not take the job until another day, I reluctantly agreed -- I agreed because I needed the job done that day. It took them about 2 hrs (maybe less) to remove the down pipes and bolt on the new pipe I provided. At $120 an hour, I really should have only been charged $240 -- since they had no parts or materials to provide. Upon check out, I asked politely if they could do anything with the price, and was told no because I agreed to that price. I again politely asked if there was anything at all they could do with the price since it only took 2 hours, and the front desk person replied, "You asked us to do a job you couldn't do, and used our services to do it. The price is $400." Hey, I did agree to the price, so I paid it as agreed. Now, just to be clear. My low rating is not for the quality of the job nor that I paid more than $240. The rating is based on their poor business practice. When a business obviously and intentionally takes advantage of a customer's situation, they are not striving to build a relationship with their clients. What I heard today from LZ Midas is making the most money possible from every customer is more important than earning your business again. In hindsight, unlike other businesses I called today, the fact that they had several open bays on a Saturday morning, is another good indicator that I'm not the only one who will take my business elsewhere in the future. Went here to get my brakes done, they were great, I was a half hour late to my appointment and they still fixed my car, Joe explained what needed to be done and made sure I understood. 100% disappointed with my visit yesterday. I went for an oil change and was told that I needed front and rear breaks at a cost of $800.00. Joe informed me that there was almost nothing left on my front pads (and I would be going through the rotors very soon) and my rear pads had about 5% left on them. He said that I shouldn't be driving and if I wasn't going to get the work done I should go home and park the car. I said I wanted to talk to my husband first (who has been working on cars for over 25 years but I was in a hurry to get an oil change). I picked up brake pads on my way home and parked the car as I was nervous about continuing to drive it. When my husband came home from work I told him what Joe said. He pulled the car in the garage and took the front tires off (which were seized to the rotor and had to be loosened with a mallet, clearly never removed by anyone at Midas). The pads easily have another 7500 -10,000 miles on them. My husband called Joe and informed him of his findings and the only thing Joe had to say was that he was going per "Manufacturer's Specs" and he was the "Professional", but had led me to believe the pads had been viewed by a mechanic. Shame on you Midas and your shady practices. Your waiting room had a sign asking for reviews on Yelp, I am gladly going to give mine. read more

I'm a single mother who also nannies in lake zurich,so my car has to be safe.I have been going there for over 5 yrs with courteous people,until my 600.00 tires they sold me with a 60,000 mile warranty wore down prematurely.I take my car in every 3000 miles for an oil change and rotation not one single mechanic ever told me my tires were unevenly worn or a alignment to keep your manufacturers warranty as they are firestone .I only got around 35,000 and told me it's my job to ask for an alignment. I thought that was there job to educate me on my car,They told me about my belts and hoses ?but not to protect my investment on my tires.i showed them all my receipts and notes from the mechanics that never said to align or anything that has to do with why my tires are worn so early. I called customer service and was told someone would call me back in 24hrs.I got the phone call 5 days later to take my car in and see what the problem is.They said I now need struts but I was just there a week ago and no one said that and an alignment all in one week due to me making a complaint that they sold me tires that I only got 3 years out of and want a refund.I called firestone and they said midas should have told you to make a claim you have to get an alighnment every year which I didn't know has anything to do with tire wear ..but they do.I would have never believed this if it did happen to me.I know now I have to replace tires and be grateful no child was injured do to their dishonesty and neglect.I will be filing a B.B.B.report to warn others. read more

These are my guys. The oil light in my car came on, and remembering that I was due for an oil change, I drove past to see if they were busy. On a rainy Saturday morning? What was I thinking! A line of cars in the parking lot. Since I didn't want to wait, I went to a drive thru oil change place. They were good, and quick, and my oil light went out. But it went on again the next day, and it stayed on. Also, my car was riding rough, and acted like it wanted to stall. I'm not saying it was the fault of the other oil place, but I felt better after I had taken my car back to my Midas. They said they would keep it over night, start it and drive it in the morning when it was cold. They wanted to see for themselves if the oil light would go on again, and if the car rode rough. They had it up on the lift, as well. They said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Maybe my oil wasn't reaching the top of the engine as it circled through? Again, they looked at my oil pressure, and filter. Everything seemed to be alright. I picked it up the next day, and even though they had looked at my car extensively, there was no charge!!! No charge!!! I mean, who does that these days???? No matter how long the line next time, I will plan farther out in advance to take my car to "my guys".
