Had a bad experience here. They tried to oversell and tell me that I needed things I did not need. When I asked questions about the estimate of "necessary" services to get my car into a healthy state, I found that the person talking to me was stumbling over his statements and changing the subject. Not sure what is up with the bad reviews here, but these guys do all the work on both of my vehicles. And only because I trust them. After several years of dealing with them, and over that period having different car "situations" come up, I have learned they know what they are doing and won't sell me something I don't need. I noticed the braking performance on my car becoming weaker and weaker, and was lured in by a $90 per axle pad/shoe coupon on their website. After inspecting the car they said only the rear brake shoes and drums needed replacement but that the drums would raise the cost to $240.. a big difference than $90 but if that's what was needed, I was fine with that. However, after they replaced the parts the braking performance only barely increased and still continued to weaken shortly afterwards, implying a possible issue with the brake lines or brake fluid. It's too bad the mechanics here couldn't diagnose that! read more

they take forever doing an inspection and they try to give a sales pitch like crazy. i seriously waited for an hour for them to finish the inspection and then they tried to give me an estimate for ridiculous prices for parts and labor. The guy on the phone gave me a totally different estimate to change my brake pads but i think that was the only way for him to get me to go to the car shop and waste about two hours of my life. Why would they add parts for stuff that does not need to be replaced?? horrible service and a big waste of time. read more

My 1st time at this shop, I dropped my 09 Nissan Cube off on a Saturday for an issue with my exhaust system. The service tech called me, explained what the problem was and what was needed, gave me a figure and even added a $75 coupon. I picked up my car an hour later, the shop was very busy but the tech was very friendly & took the time to explain what he did. My car now rides like a dream. I loved this place. The guys were very sweet and worked me in even though they were very busy. They worked quickly and efficiently :) they even took the time to print out pictures and descriptions of the parts they said needed to be fixed along with a price list in case I decided to go back to them. All in all I was very impressed with my first experience here and will probably be back for my next oil change. Ill definitely recommend them to people in the area! read more

My family has been going to this shop for over 5 yrs. Tom and his crew are great and tell you how it is unlike most repair shops. Tom will make sure that your car is taken care of. Great customer service, quick and professional. I recently hit a construction barrel on 90 near Marengo. I had to run over it as it was wall to wall traffic. I called Tom, he made time for me on short notice to look over the car and verify no damage. Tom was not at this location for awhile and the place did go downhill, but he is back and determined to make it how it previously was. I have always been skeptical about auto repair shops. I have been going to Glendale Heights Midas now for the past 3 years. The staff there has always been kind and honest with me about my car's needs. Not once did I ever feel I was being sold more stuff then I needed. If it wasn't for the staff, and how they made me feel, I don't think I would continue to go. I highly recommend this Midas location for any young women out there, who feel that a car repair shop just sees $$$ when they walk in. read more

I have been going on and off at this establishment since 1990 and never become my trusted repair shop.. as it stance out, nothing change all those years, especially on the recommended repair (via free inspection), they won't push you into buying it (but scare tactic is always there). Everytime they recommend something, it is always a replacement for everything, they won't even try to save you some money (i.e drum/rotor resurfacing instead of replacement) .. anyway I was here for a "transmission fluid drain and filter change" for an agreed price. They took my car, did the job and I asked question what was done since I have a feeling, they didn't change the "filter". The service advisor said no filter on the transmission, I insist there's one looking directly to his eyes. Double check it, transmission pan removed and filtered changed, end of story but here's the blame game, they stripped the bolts on the pan and try to blame the previous mechanic who did the transmission pan removal, they immediately offer that they will retapped (free of charge of course) and re install the pan, I looked at him on the eye and smile but little does he know (or read my mind?) that this is the first time that the transmission pan cover were removed. LOLs.. At the end, after the free inspection and a little white lies on the filter and stripped bolt, it should deserve and 2 rating the most but since they tried to correct their mistake plus a few dollars off from the repair bill, I'll give them a 3 star rating.. ;-) read more

I have taken my car to a variety of shops, but Midas in Glendale Heights consistently has the best prices and best customer service. I don't know a lot about cars, but I've done a good bit of research online about any car issues I have, and what they tell me is always pretty much the same as what I've read. They thoroughly explain what they're doing and are good about accepting coupons and reducing the cost. They also explain the risks of not performing some service on the car immediately if I want to wait on having it done. They have never put any pressure to get work done immediately and they have always been wonderfully polite and patient. I trust them completely. Tom and Carlos have both been great and I'm having my car towed to them today to have the starter fixed. I know they'll get it done quickly and at the right price. read more

I was having trouble with my air conditioner. It would work intermittantly and got to the point where it stopped working alltogether. I starting calling shops to ask about availability and only one said they could get my car in according to my schedule but also said they could offer me a courtesy drive home and pickup. This shop was Midas. Very nice staff and personable. Their diagnostic of the system took longer than planned and I had to bring the car back to finish the repair when my schedule allowed. However, they were able to provide the courtesy ride home and pickup AGAIN and repair the air conditioner for far less $$ than I was expecting. I would definitely recommend this shop. read more
