Just needed an oil change. Called for an appt the day before and when I got there, they didn't have me. (thus the 4 stars) However, they were able to get me in when I got there. Coupon that I got online got me $25 off so it was a great deal. Even better was that instead of just checked boxes on paper, they provided a link with a status update of everything that they inspected including photos. Everything from filters to tire thread depth on to the rotors, (which needed replacing...didn't have the time or the money) BUT good, efficient work and even decent coffee. read more

I called asking for the tech I prefer to work on my cars and was told he'd be retrieved to speak on the phone, when they came back to the phone with him I was hung up on. I called back asking for the same technician only to be hung up on again. I called one last time to ask why I was being rudely hung up on every time I spoke at which point I was fed run around biased responses of "he's not here at the moment" and "he went on lunch". I just had the single best initial diagnostic experience in recent memory! Chandler did an incredibly thorough job looking into the problems on my 2006 Honda CR-V that I needed looked at, as well as pointing out other areas of possible future concern, AND answering a bunch of questions I had -- both related and unrelated. Not only that, he and the other tech, Matt, walked me around while my car was on the lift actually showing me what was wrong, demonstrating where possible, as well as patiently explaining the mechanical processes involved. Chandler also LISTENED attentively, which seems to be a rare thing in customer service anymore where the name of the game is typically, "get 'em in, and get 'em out!" Not so here. This Midas location is what I'm recommending. Erlanger, Ky on Dixie Highway. I first found them at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. I had major problems with one of my tires. I was heading to a different tire place that I thought was open. I saw the Midas sign. "Tire Sale" So, I pulled in there. They fixed my tire for FREE! And the main guy says something like, "We do this to let you know we are a good business and we hope you will come back." To me, that is how businesses were when I was growing up. I just knew they cared about me. I have had several dealings with them. They have always did great work. I have recommended them to my friends. I have witnessed how they treat other people as I was waiting in their waiting room. It's good people. read more

I heard that stores aren't in control of online appointments and can get overbooked so this time I made sure to call to schedule instead. Still waited 2 and a half hours. Really wish I could give them 0 stars. I took my car in about 2 weeks ago because of a sound coming from my driver side wheel. Midas look at my car and told me I needed new wheel bearings (about 500$ is what they told me it would cost) so I took my car to Bob Summeral in Newport to get a second opinion, it was only there they told me it was just a loose lug-nut in my wheel and they tightened it for me for free. The man at Bob Summeral said that the mechanic at Midas didn't even put my wheel back on all the way after he looked at it which is so unprofessional to do. It's not often someone will compliment an auto shop, especially a national chain auto shop, but these guys are different. I consider myself a car guy, and these guys know I am. They don't waste their time with the BS and just tell me what's going on, which I appreciate wholeheartedly. I take my car here just for oil changes (What? I'm a busy man, otherwise I'd do it myself), but their free several-point check is a nice perk. Prices are in line, or lower, than most competitors, and you can oftentimes find a coupon online. I needed an oil change on my VW TDI. This service is more expensive than traditional oil changes. I went to their website booked an appointment & printed off a coupon. When I arrived they would not honor it nor at least take the difference from a diesel oil change price. Instead I was treated extremely poorly & not worked with. They were dismissive. & down right rude. Instant oil change places charge less! Instead I went to Michel Tire down the street & got excellent service. You lose Midas! read more

Do not take your vehicle here at all if you're smart! I took my car in at 10:30 am to have the ABS looked at because the light was on in the dashboard, I get a call at 1:45 pm and was told the rear sensor needed replacing and the gave me the cost of $277 to have it fixed, I told them ok. I got a call at 5:00 pm that my car was ready, when I got there as soon as I got into the car and drove off the ABS light came on again so I turned around and took it back. So I sat there until closing and this 'kid' came out and was telling me something about the steering wheel and a load of other BS, I told them to put the part they replaced back onto my car and reimburse my money which I was told they couldn't do, the would not write on my receipt that the car's ABS light was on, I was told to call back Monday...AVOID THIS HEADACHE. I take reviews into consideration when purchasing an item or giving someone my business so I don't write a review unless I feel strongly about it, and I never write one when I'm feeling angry or frustrated. I've been going to Midas for oil changes for about a year now and I've never had an issue until this time, which happens to coincide with a change in management. I took my car in for a routine oil change on Friday. I had an appointment so my husband picked me up and we went to dinner and waited for the call to let us know the car was ready. They called to tell me that I needed a new battery. I was surprised because I hadn't had any issues with it, but that doesn't mean issues weren't coming soon if I didn't replace it. However, I had doubts about the need and wondered if I was just being up-sold, which is typical at a lot of Jiffy Lube type of places, but has never happened to me at Midas. I asked the mechanic on the phone to hold while I talked to my husband about it. He interrupted to say that he could talk to my husband directly and explain it to him. While that might sound nice, the way he said it made it sound like I wasn't capable of understanding the issue to relay the information to my husband. It came off as sexist and condescending. Maybe that wasn't his intent, but I'm not a sensitive person or easily offended, so I don't feel like I miss-understood him, but it's possible. He told us the battery would be $90, which is a great price. He failed to mention that there was a $60 charge (!) for labor to replace the battery. If you've ever changed a battery, you know the labor cost of $60 is ridiculous. If the mechanic on the phone had disclosed the labor charge for a total of $150, we could have purchased a battery elsewhere put it in ourselves. I called AutoZone who had a battery for $90 that came with a 1-year warranty, which is about how long I plan to keep my car. Had the cost been fully disclosed I could have made a more informed decision about where to purchase from. I felt like he was being deceptive. The more important issue, and the reason for the review, is that I started having issues with my car that had never occurred prior to the oil change on Friday evening. While I can acknowledge that it's totally possible that it's was just a coincidence that my car started acting up right after the oil change, the more likely explanation is that something was done incorrectly during the oil change. The evening following the oil change, I moved my car from the garage to the driveway so I could do some wood-working in the garage. When I started the car, the garage filled with blueish/purple smoke and blueish/purple smoke came out of the tailpipe. This had never happened before in the 5 years I've owned the vehicle and certainly not until the oil was changed. This happened on a Saturday night so Midas was closed and also closed on Sunday, so I was unable to do anything until Monday. During my lunch break, I stopped for gas on my way to Midas to talk over the issue with them. As I pumped the gas, I noticed that more smoke was slowly coming out of the tailpipe. I decided to check the oil while I waited for the gas tank to fill and it was WAY over-filled. I checked it multiple times, and I know how to check oil and read a dipstick. I proceeded to drive the car to Midas and explained what was going on. I WILL say that I was pleased that they immediately looked at the car. I waited for about 10 or 15 minutes and the mechanic took me back to the car to talk it over. He said he checked everything they did on Friday and found nothing out of the ordinary. He showed me the dipstick 4 different times showing the proper oil level. So basically, there was no explanation for the issue and he proceeded to throw out ideas of what might have happened (a plastic bag under the car, a potential recall I wasn't aware of, etc.) and he was going to send me on my way. I accepted defeat and then asked about the $60 for labor for the battery and how the mechanic on the phone failed to disclose the labor charge on the battery estimate, and he said they would have to contact Corporate to see if it could be refunded. He said he would call me within 45 minutes. That was 3 days ago. I will not be taking any vehicles to Midas in the future, and if you can avoid this location, I would. read more

Very Slow. Nobody else on the racks.All I needed was an oil change,tire rotation and balance. Got there at 9:00 a.m. Out at 10:45. After I got there 3 other customers arrived. 2 got out before me. A young man came out after they saw me filming them all standing around the main counter and talking like no one was there. I called and made an appointment to have my oil changed on Wednesday. I spoke to Jacob at the location on Dixie Highway in Erlanger. I told him to make it Friday morning then I called back to change the appointment for Friday at 4:30. When I arrived for my appointment he came in asked me if he could help me. I told him I had an appointment at 4:30pm and he walked over to his computer and told me he didn't have an appointment for me. I asked him to name the people who answered the phone I knew it stated with the letter J. He said Jacob I said yes I spoke to him. He then took his computer screen and andcturned it so I cools see it to porcecor me that I didn't have an appointment. I told him I didn't care what the screen said I knew I spoke to him. I asked him to call Jacob and ask - that's when he told me he was in fact Jacob and asked me when I called the office for an appointment. He was very cocky and arrogant. When I told him it was Wednesday he said well that explains it we've been extremely busy two people quit (imagine that) bla bla bla. Not my problem . I want my oil changed. I told him he was rude and I frankly didn't appreciative if because I have my own issues. I asked for the managers name - Dave who was out test driving a car. He went got my car pulled it into the bay and Jacob was on his phone I'm sure talking to Dave. As of now no sign of Dave - no problem - everyone has a boss. James called me and told me that unfortunately I was going to need at least two new tires but would need all four ideally. I was super stressed about this but James worked with me to price match a quote I had gotten from a local competitor and ensure a timely, quality service.
