In reconsidering, I'll relate just one of those "bad" experiences: After one of these "bad experiences" (a brake repair gone wrong), I was forced to take the vehicle up to one of the few Meineke Care Care Centers that had a good service rating, located in a suburb north of Chicago. After the Cook County Meineke fixed the brakes issue, the owner confided in/to me that they had fixed what was essentially a butcher job by the Bourbonnais Meineke shop. This was a vehicle--a "dangerous" vehicle after the initial brake "repair"--that we had given to our daughter and son-in-law and that much of the time had our two precious young granddaughters as passengers. In all fairness to the owner of the Bourbonnais Meineke, he attempted to make amends by giving us a $25 gift card to the Olive Garden. Needless to say, we never used it. The 5 star reviews, outnumbering the (6 or 7) 1 star* &/or 2 star* reviews, would attest to a fair amount of good experiences from a "lucky" group of patrons, so, (as Dirty Harry so sardonically said) if you're feeling "lucky", . . . -- [* The 1 & 2 star reviews--I advise you read them; there's some real horror stories in there. And owner Bill does have what I'd describe as a very unctuous bedside manner.]

The difference is the obvious level of skills and restrictions by the people doing the work compared to a true automotive mechanic. For what I saved in the price for my tires, including mounting and road hazard warranty, I lost because the mechanic couldn't get one of my locking lugnuts off and I had to go elsewhere to get it removed and the new tire installed. Not the mechanics' fault but Walmart's as they limit what their mechanics are able to do. I give 3 stars because the mechanic felt bad and tried to do everything to resolve the problem. I hope he goes to an automotive school and gets licensed because I believe he would be great. Had the locking lugnut not been an issue, I would have been very happy with the price of the 4 new tires. That one issue erased my savings as I had to pay another shop $140 to get the locking lugnut off and mount my 4th tire.

I had quite a few items in my cart and proceeded to put them on the counter half way through ringing these items up John the cashier says next time I should take these up front because HE doesn't take these many items. They will tell me what things need replacing on my car (once they notice a belt was looking pretty old and after they did my oil change they told me about the belt and suggested that I have it replaced sometime soon - but didn't pressure me to get it fixed that day - and they gave me a price quote on the work. It just so happened that before I started going to Goodyear, I took my car to Midas and they mentioned the aging belt as well. Their price quote for the same work was much higher!!... I ended up getting the belt replacement done at Goodyear about a month later). Another reason I feel they're trustworthy; the last time I was in for an oil change they told me that my tires were due for replacement and they gave me a price quote. I asked if they felt I could wait until my next oil change - would my tires make it that long? They told me that they definitely need replacing soon and recommended I get the work done before my next scheduled oil change. Well, they were right!! I was out of town the other week and my car started to shake really bad.... had to take it to a shop that was 300 miles away from home (not a fun feeling!)...and the belt in my tire had slipped and I MOST DEFINITELY needed those new tires! ..should have got them at Goodyear when they suggested it. Also good things about them: *they have a Goodyear credit card that you can get if you end up needing more work done on your car than you can afford and the payments are really low on it. * they have a fairly nice waiting area with toys for children, coffee, tv, pop machine and a clean bathroom (extra points for the clean bathroom!!) * go on a Monday -Thursday and the wait time isn't bad at all for an oil change :)

When I picked it up, I was informed the back left tire dragged on the way out of the shop but they "managed to break it free". Well, they sure did break it, as they failed to notice one of the studs for the lugs was loose and had backed into the drum. When I drove part of the way home, all I could hear was grinding from the rear. By driving, this destroyed my parking brake system as all internal drum parts were destroyed by the loose stud. Shop refused to accept fault and would only cover labor for the hub replacement. Now I'm stuck with repairing my parking brake system that was fully operational prior to this visit. Never returning.

I went in for repair on my car $1,700 and they tried to give it back to me with the check engine light still on, they pulled it back into the shop and a day later called and informed me I had to buy a $300 battery so that they could further investigate what the problem was not knowing how much more they were going to charge me... I told them I would go and buy a battery but they insisted it had to be theirs with that I took my car to a dealer who found the same cold breakdown that they got when I first pulled it in! They're they're corporate office will not call me back I tried to get a hold of the owner no luck there either hell further pursue this with whatever legal actions I need to take....
