Why did I need to drive here to make an appointment? Can't they do that by phone? I called, they told me to come in, once here they looked at their computer to set up an appointment. So I came here for less than a minute for them to say they have an opening and now I'm leaving to come back. What kind of system is that? Imagine if you placed orders by food by calling in, they set up a time for you to come in, you go there, and they set up a time for you to return another day to place your order. Not to mention this is to fix something that was already a 2k fix that apparently wasn't resolved because the light they said was repaired is still on. Is this place under new management? Are they trying to figure out how to run a repair shop? Feels that way. If anyone knows of a good auto shop, one that will actually fox the issue and not make up more (which I suspect these people are doing. One that knows you can make an appointment by phone. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Not only they do a bad job their guy from front desk scamming people! First brake pads were replaced incompletely ( my car require rotors change with brake pads) then when came back to see why the brakes don't work they came up with a scam plan that i needed to fix other things (by the way that was not an issue at all) however $6300 later defective pards were placed which almost caused me a lethal car crash!! When we went back AGAIN they tried to tell me it was the other part issue that needs to be replaced and they charge $2300 for that!!!! Really??? After we changed that part and issue still was there FINALLY they came to admitting initial defective part was issue all this time! So almost $8000 later we finally got the issue resolved and the brake pads with rooters had to be changed at the different shop owned by a honest guy ! DO NOT DEAL WiTH THESE PEOPLE!! I'm so mad! People be AWARE! I sent my friend over to Midas today because when I borrowed my friends car the other day I swear I heard some brake squeel and the right front was getting grating by the time I gave him back the car. I figured at 70k he needed just new front pads. I checked the rotors by feel after he got home and luckily they seemed smooth and not chewed up. My friend is elderly, on Social Security and not mechanical at all. Midas ended up charging him $1400 for all new brakes and rotors. The problem is this job costs on average between 480.00 and 680.00. Midas really over charged him for this job. I'm disgusted with myself for even suggesting MIDAS. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Supposedly this Midas fired their old mechanic crew for doing faulty work on customers cars, causing them to have to return with new damages. The front desk female admitted to this. I spent roughly 5k and trust Lonnie and his team. By they way they took no ownership to damages done to my car. When I received my car back from the last work that was performed, my dash and right interior indicator light was damaged. No ownership was taken but they had the nerve to say it was already like that. But I still had to pay the bill. So time went by and I took it back to Midas so they can fix the damage. Was it fixed no, they kept the car for 3 days and still have a cracked dash and missing indicator light. Adam and Shawn were great. Was greeted by Shawn as soon as he was available and he was friendly and prompt with getting my vehicle checked in. They did inform me of being short staffed so I knew it might take longer than expected. When I called to get an estimate on completion time, they answered the phone right away and let me know they had someone else go home sick (not their fault) and that my car wasn't gonna be finished until after they closed. They assured me they would stay late and get my vehicle done. For some people, that would've been an issue but because I knew they were already short staffed and doing the best they could, I had no issues with this and was thankful they stayed late to complete my car. They gave me a great deal on 2 new tires and even made a one time exception to honor a coupon I had due to the long wait time. I absolutely recommend coming here. Mr. Lonnie Norris, outfitted my 30+ year old Toyota 4Runner with an exhaust refresh. I was looking at having everything replaced including the catalytic converter. Lonnie stated that as long as it's doing it's job, there's no need to spend money on a new cat. DEQ verified his account as it passed smog. He refreshed exhaust pipe, tailpipe, and muffler. After which I heard a loud rumbling while highway driving after the work was done. Mr. Norris stated he thought my original heat shield came loose, tack welded it at no charge to me, and got me back on the road same day. No more noisy exhaust! Mr. Norris is knowledgeable, and can bend metal pipe for fitment. Highly recommended! read more

Why I am giving a 5-star review. I was driving in stop and go traffic on 217 and I notice a loud noise coming from my vehicle when I applied the brakes. The noise was not the normal high pitch you hear when your brake pads are going out but more of a grinding sound that makes you pull over and wonder how much this is going to cost. For the past twenty-five plus years I have always gone to LS for my brake service and replacements but after reading the reviews for the Beaverton Midas I decided to give them a call and see if they could look at my F-350. I called and spoke to Jim and after explaining the issue he fit me into the schedule the same day and the Outstanding team at Beaverton Midas had my truck back on the road the same day. I also want to point out something else I noticed at this Midas location and that is you can tell they all work well together as a team and enjoy working there, it shows in their performance and attitude. I called Lonnie and told him my car sounded like a hot rod and I was afraid my catalytic converter had been stolen or was damaged. He told me they were busy but to bring it in right away so they could look at it. Fortunately "we had dodged the bullet" as Lonnie said and the converter had been damaged but not removed. Took my truck to this location a year ago for power steering issues (my original power steering in a 13 yr old vehicle had failed so not unexpected). The whole system was replaced. Over the course of the year following, I had to take it back in several times (at least 3) for follow up repairs. Leaking reservoirs, failed pumps, noise issues. The power steering would always be noisy after the vehicle started up, even after it was first repaired and after each subsequent follow up. I figured it might settle down after a bit suspecting air bubbles in the line after fluid refills. Staff was always nice and respectful about the follow up visits and items were repaired under warranty so I'm happy with that. The problem is, the quality of work and parts is suspect. I never had a reliable system since the initial repair and the whole system failed again recently. Taking it to a certified service shop for my truck, found that the parts put in are sub-standard and, not surprising, have failed and I'm having to have it all replaced again. While I might have been able to have it repaired under warranty, I can't use this shop again just to continue to have problems with the power steering. I might use them for small maintenance items as I had good service for that, but I can't trust the workmanship or parts for major service. Now I'm out the original repair cost, plus the extra cost for going to a dealership just to make sure it gets done right with quality parts. read more

We needed new brake pads. Thats it. Just brake pads. We called, got a quote and decided to go with them. They said they needed to inspect it first. OK. No problem. We had an appointment at 10:00. They said they'd call us within an hour with a quote. We called them two hours later. They said they were just finishing the inspection and would call us right back. Three hours later, we called them. They said they were still working on the inspection. By this time it was way too late to have them finish the inspection and get work done that day. So we went and picked the car up. They said they got busy. We. Had. An. Appointment. You have appointments for a reason. You didn't get around to even looking at it 5 hours after our appointment? We still need our brakes done but we'll go with someone who does the work when they say they will. read more

I had an urgent and difficult catalytic converter replacement dilemma required to get my daughter's car back on the road by Monday (it was Saturday) for the first day of her new career. I couldn't find a direct replacement and was trying to weld in a universal fit product; my project, my problem. I couldn't make it work and I needed help. I heard about Lonnie from the local Napa store and dropped by. On a busy Saturday morning, Lonnie made himself available right away and we discussed my predicament. He had no money to make off me and I was not a current customer, but he not only took an honest interest in my situation, but spent his time to thoughtfully advised me on what to do and then took more time to locate three direct fit replacements, two which were available that day. I took my Subaru in for a standard oil change on a late Friday afternoon. I waited with my car. About 30 minutes later, an older mechanic (not the one who checked me in or the young man I saw working on my car) came to tell me that in the process of changing my oil that they had ripped my oil pan. I asked if they could repair it and he said no. I asked what I needed to do and he proceeded to tell me that I needed to have it towed and repaired elsewhere. He then blamed it on my dealership. I asked him why they continued to wrench at something that wouldn't budge until it ripped and he again said that it wasn't their fault. I was then left alone in the waiting room to make my own arrangements. I had to call and pay for a tow. I had to call my dealership and see if they could get me in as I worked the next day. The damage they incurred was almost $500, not including the tow. The next day a shop supervisor called and again told me it wasn't their fault and his solution was that I raise a stink at my dealership. I called corporate and placed a concern. The owner called and left a voicemail on Monday. I called him back and left a voicemail but then again, no follow up. I never did talk to the young man who did the damage and the shop was very patronizing to me. It's shocking that they did not even ask to call a tow or try to advocate on my behalf. No one said that they were sorry it happened. All I got was a big bill and a lot of "it wasn't our fault." So yes, from now on, I will stick with my dealership who fixed in by noon the next day (Saturday). read more

I saw an ad on tv for 19.95 oil change at Midas. I signed up online for Aan appointment at the Beaverton location and then called the Beaverton location to verify the $19.95 price. I was assured they honored that price. On the day of my oil change they charged me $41.49 instead of the $19.95. I was told that was a national ad and they did not honor it. They would not budge. I've been impressed on my couple of visits with how decent these folks seem. Very friendly, up front and honest, and glad to explain things. Once they even told me when some really expensive repair was not needed right away and may never even be needed if I'm lucky enough. And they didn't charge me just for taking a look. One of the mechanics even took me under the car while it was lifted up and was showing me stuff, but I think he could tell that I was a little freaked out and kept waiting for it to drop on my head, so he made it quick and led me out from under the car to continue the discussion. ETA 1/14/13: I originally gave this Midas 1 star, but changed it to 3 based on my experience today. The manager Eric gave me a call based on the feedback I had left (story below). He apologized profusely and insisted (rightfully) that his mechanic was correct about the nail. He asked if I would bring it in so he could make it right. Of course I was hesitant, but Eric insisted they could fix it right away at no charge. I brought it in and - sure enough - there was a nail. The mechanic promptly fixed it and Eric gave me a couple of coupons to make up for the trouble. It was pleasant and I'm very impressed with how the situation was handled. Eric said he hoped I would come back and I just might. ~~~~ Words cannot express how disappointed I am with my experience at this Midas today. I'm a reasonable person, with reasonable expectations and would never leave a negative review unless it was absolutely warranted. Earlier this week I called to make an appt to get my grinding brakes checked. John told me to bring it in on Saturday morning. I told him I'd bring it as early as I could, thinking it would make it easier on him. I showed up this morning at 8:30 AM. John told me to leave the car and they would call within an hour or two when they had an estimate. I waited until 11:15 and called for a status update. Turns out, John was down a mechanic and was running behind. In fact, he told me he had me down at "11" because he wasn't sure what time I would come in. Okay - Why didn't he tell me that when I left the car at 8:30 and told him it was my only transportation? I could have just left with the car and come back. But I understand mistakes happen and that people call in sick. He tells me it would be another hour and my car was next on the lift. Okay. I believe him. I walk back to the location and wait in the waiting room. My car doesn't get loaded onto the lift until 1PM. That's 4.5 hours AFTER I dropped it off and 2.5-3 hours AFTER he said it would be looked at. I'm upset, but wait patiently for the estimate. At 1:30 the work estimate is confirmed and they tell me it will be done at 2:30, which was when I told them I needed to pick up my husband from work. I'm stupidly impressed it would only take them an hour, so I go grab lunch and come back - it's not done until 3. Upset, but not wanting to make a scene, I pay my bill. John is very apologetic about the wait. I tell him "it's okay" just thankful to have my car back after 6.5 hours. The wait isn't even the reason I'm writing this review. Keep in mind - I spent 6.5 hours of my Saturday waiting for this car. So the mechanic tells me theres a nail in my left rear tire (he even wrote it on the diagnostic sheet). He very nicely tells me I could save money if I take it to my tire place. I know this, and make an appt to get the tire fixed an hour after I leave Midas, thankful that the mechanic had found it. I carefully drive to my tire place, wait another half hour and guess what - NO NAIL! I had them check every single tire. I have no idea why the mechanic would tell me there is a nail when there isn't, but that level of incompetence is just....mind numbingly frustrating. I will never, again take my car to this Midas. I would highly suggest anyone thinking about using this Midas go to another shop. John is a really nice guy, but the mistakes and misquotes that happened today just should not happen. read more

I received a coupon from Safeway after grocery shopping one day for these guys. My poor Corolla was way overdue for a full service, oil change, tire rotation, etc. The coupon was for $19.95 for all of these services. What a deal! I got on Yelp before I called and saw their excellent reviews. I decided to book an appointment with them and was so glad I did! The guy who answered the phone was ultra friendly and helpful. They were booked out about 3 days but that was ok with me. I arrived and was pleased to see a nice waiting area for customers. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and told me it would take about 45 mins to 1 hour for my car to be done. No problem. I had brought plenty of reading material. My car was ready right on schedule. To my surprise they said everything was fine. They didn't try to sell me a new air filter or anything like the other oil change places. My total came to just what the coupon said. $19.95. I also found out that ALL of the work is done by certified mechanics, not young guys fresh out of high school with little knowledge of cars.
