This has been a fantastic pool for teaching my daughter to swim. She's had a variety of teachers, most of them are college students working part time at the pool. This comes with it pros and cons. Some are great with kids and some can't quiet get them to focus. Overall, the kids usually have fun and learn valuable skills. The pool and facility is old. I'm looking forward to the new facility they are planning. The staff has always been very receptive to feedback. If I've ever had something to say, good or bad, they listen and do what they can to make it the best place they can. read more

fun but if you make one mistake while swimming you get kicked out of the pool. they should just fire the boss of the lifeguards

Love love love the Mid Willamette YMCA I swim regularly and I am always able to find a lane or a spot in the jacuzzi.. it's safe and clean. I am glad they are getting ready to remodel the women's locker room. read more

I must say it doesn't matter where I am, I still need to exercise. I love this YMCA, it has everything I need in order for myself to keep fit. They have a nice pool where I can learn to swim and also a hot tub for people who are wishing to relax. I am not sure why people are having a hard time here but the trick is to not come on a day where there is a lot of ruckus. If you come here on a busy day such as Saturday then I am sorry but your goose is cooked. This place appears to be very family friendly to people of all ages. The kids love the waterslide and there are plenty of other cool things for adults to do as well. Drawback: Due to the lack of amenities at the YMCA in PDX, it was really troublesome for me to drive here in my van. Come here on the wrong day there will be kids in place they are NOT supposed to be. Other than that ever since I became a YMCA member there was way for me to avoid working out and every time I do is enjoyable read more

The facility is nice, and there's plenty of classes which I like. The front desk staff is absolute garbage. They have no person skills, they are on attentive and unaware when you're standing in front of them. If you have a question, whether it be on the phone or in person, your greeted with a big attitude, and sometimes you don't even get the information you've come for. Along with that all the classes that are supposed to be exercise are turning into dance classes. And there aren't any in the evening. read more

My wife and I were a mixture of frustrated/heartbroken/and offended after leaving our children at their Friday night child watch. We returned to pick up our two children only to find them both extremely messy. My 11mo daughter had food hanging off her face and neck though we packed multiple bibs for both kids and was told that she couldn't be watched properly due to the amount of children and she fell and hit her head and was given an ice pack and had us sign a paper saying that her "behavior was noted and that we were notified so they won't be liable for future instances" then we were told my son rubbed banana in his hair yet he had to be changed into his extra set of clothes. And he had also been written up for behavior because he (25 months) was not cooperating when prompted like the rest of the children who ranged 4-5 years old. We were told lots of kids received write ups because of the volume of children. The Friday child watch is an additional fee for each child so I would expect extra scrutiny for the extra pay but it felt like they jam packed a bunch of kids of all ages together, let them go wild, then blamed the children for bad behavior that was mostly due to child watch's poor supervision. What made it worse was that my wife was called by the supervisor for child watch the following Monday and was told very rudely that my son is ruining the experience of the other children and if he proceeds then he won't be allowed anymore and that my wife needs to teach him how to follow instruction. HE IS 2 YEARS OLD. The call was unprofessional and it went against their progression of disciplinary actions that we clearly had them go over with us when we were looking into the program. We only joined the YMCA for their child watch program since I work 12 hr shifts and my wife needs some time to be herself. But if we can't trust them to properly and fairly watch either of my children we will cancel our membership after this month. read more

The summer camps are terrible and the staff are incompetent. Any issue with you may have, will fall on deaf ears. The family director will not listen or hear any feedback. read more

The pool at the YMCA is salty, which apparently has something to do with the way they treat the water. Would be nice if they could do it like the rest of the world so it's not quite so disgusting. The elliptical and gym rooms are nice, as long as you don't mind occasionally getting whacked in the face with a volleyball or basketball on the way in since the only way to get there is to walk across the basketball court. All in all, the YMCA is a nice place and the staff is friendly enough to keep me coming back for close to 2 years now. read more

Mid-Willamette Family YMCA - Gyms Near Me - Albany, Oregon

from the start the people at the front desk were not friendly and inflexible - I should have trusted my instincts but I was hoping to sign my son up for the last month of summer camp big mistake they didnt communicate that ehat I signed up was just the camp itself and not the after care and then I had to go back to fill out the paperwork and not be able to do any of it over the phone or online which is a huge inconvenience and then to top it off they won't cancel or refund because they have a "two week cancellaction policy" so even if you sign up for something that same day and decide to cancel they can't do it - unbelievable!! at least have the flexibility to let people cancel and get a refund if it's within a few days of signing up - it really isn't and shouldn't be that difficult to issue a refund honestly read more

This is a very expensive gym membership to have. It is very close to my apartment and the only one that has a pool and sauna. In the sauna yesterday there was a mother and her 3 naked kids in there and they were sitting directly in the wooden seating area. Ew. Not only is that unhygienic, but children before they hit puberty are unable to regulate their body temperature the way that adults can. I hope that the office staff will do some research and rethink their policy on allowing children to use the sauna. read more

This was my first time in with my 3 year old son to try the swimming pool. The woman at the front desk was very polite and another staff member was there to guide us through the facility. Pool is amazing! Great for kids and the slide is a bonus too! read more

The staff is what makes this place worth going to on a daily basis. Very friendly and helpful. I have been to many YMCAs and this one by far, is the only one at which I'm scared to run on the treadmill for fear of falling through the floor. The building is old, crusty, and way out of date. To get to the cardio room, you have to walk down a long hallway and through the gym (that has no designated walkway) so you're either trying not to get hit by a basketball, stepping over gym bags, trying not to knock over the little kiddos in the middle of a game, or trying to dodge the occasional cardio class. The weight room is small and if you want to use the mirror for free weights it feels like there's a wait time because there's ALWAYS a pack of guys huddled around them. The pads are falling off the machines which are rickety at best. The thing that bugs me the most is that they don't offer towel service. EVERY OTHER YMCA OFFERS THIS!!!!!! I feel like I'm getting ripped off in that aspect and the hours kinda suck. On the GOOD side, it's "cheap" for the whole family (although they raised the prices from $76 to $80-ish dollars a month) and that's access to the entire gym (Pool, cardio classes, weight room, and cardio room). There are some classes that have fees, but if you're a member it's cheaper to take them. It's not horrible, but it's definitely not the best. There is A LOT lacking. Waiting and hoping that the new building (once it's finished...), will be a step or two nicer. read more

I came in for a day pass since I'm just visiting, really enjoyed the facility, looks like its brand new. Great gym, great range of equipment, i like the layout/ floor plan. Maybe the building has been remodeled since it looks very new. Quite busy with families & toddlers which is understandable. Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. I'll be back more often when i come back to visit my kid at OSU. A weekly pass would be kinda cool to have for us out of towners. read more

Nice place. Has lots of decent and good programs. You will pay a bit more for it, however. Nice facilities. Not sure how old it is but it has a newer feel. Looking forward to getting back to swimming lessons for the young ones once Covid is under control. read more

My wife and I have been going here for almost a year. Great staff and nice facilities. Definitely worth the cost we pay for a family membership. read more

Very nice new facility! The cardio equipment is great and has a good selection of weight lifting machines. A nice selection of free weights and a lot of different programs to choose from. The pool area is extensive with great saunas in the locker room. Incredible amount of value for the price of the membership! read more

I'm not a member, but sometimes I pay the $20 to take one of my grandkids swimming. I took my four year old granddaughter to the Y swimming tonight. We were in the toddler/ wading pool with several other mom's and toddlers, when in come three 16-20 year old guys. They grab a beach ball that one of the kids had been playing with and started a game of dodge ball over the top of the kids. All of the mom's were on their feet instantly, but the guys didn't care, they kept right on playing over the heads of our children. I asked them to roughouse elsewhere, but they said they were just playing catch (they were leaving red marks on each other's backs). The lifeguards totally ignored this until I complained. The lifeguard left the pool after she talked to them, they continued to play in the toddler pool and made sure I knew that the lifeguard was dating one of them. Is this ok, small children aren't protected from bullies, by the adults in charge? This makes my blood boil. I take my grandkids to have fun, but we're supposed to step aside and stop having fun because a bunch of punks come in? Why is this ok? read more

Just joined and found the new facility fantastic!! They have everything I could possibly want. Did the deep water fitness class today and it was so much fun yet incredibly effective! I'm 39 and about 50lbs over weight yet I could do this without crying after but I definitely feel like I worked out. Only thing that I was bummed about was the sauna being closed for the day for cleaning. That being said its good to know its cleaned on a regular basis! The staff is very nice. The machine that spins your bathing suit out so your not taking home a sopping wet suit is a for sure bonus!! read more

The new facility is beautiful!! But the front desk staff honestly could not be more rude. I go to the Y to work out at least 4 days a week and never once have I been greeted with a "hello" or even a smile!! There have even been times when I've asked "how's your day going?" And gotten nothing back but a blank stare. The trainers in the gym are usually friendly and helpful but the environment as a whole has never been that enjoyable for me. I don't understand why it is so hard to make regular customers feel wanted. I just don't think it should be that hard to fake a smile at people. read more

The YMCA pool has always been a treat to have available. My families children learned to swim there. And as an adult I went to the YMCA pool for a short recreational swim and was charged for a one time swim 10.00 for a 20 minute swim. I respect the YMCA programs that they offer and what they stand for, but unfortunately I will have to find another source for swimming as 10.00 for a 20 minute swim is WAY over inflated and ridiculous. read more

Terrible weekend hours. Staff barely recognizes when you come or go. Very expensive given the outdated facility. When we signed up they promised that the new facility would be open in just a few months and it has been over two years. Then they raise the cost of a membership by 20% for the new facility. When existing members ask for s tour of the new building they refuse and say it is for new members only. Huge promotion for new members but after they sign up YMCA tells them they can't use the current facility and have to wait for the new facility to open which was six weeks from the signup date. They have lost touch! The loyal long term members who have waited through many broken promises feel abandoned and taken advantage of. There are a bunch of new gyms in the area at a much more reasonable cost. read more
