While we were standing outside the bar, we watched a tattooed bouncer being incredibly rough with a man who was being kicked out. I don't condone whatever the man did that led to him being removed, and if he was causing problems, he absolutely should have been escorted out. But the guy was clearly intoxicated, and the amount of force being used seemed completely unnecessary. People around us were yelling that he couldn't breathe, and whether that was true or not, the whole situation was disturbing to watch. It honestly felt like we were watching someone get beaten up. I understand security has a difficult job, but this didn't seem professional. It completely ruined the night for all of us, and none of us feel comfortable coming back after what we saw. There are plenty of bars in Bend where you can have a good time without witnessing something like this, and we'd rather spend our money at those places instead. Go to Astros instead!

Parking in the lot is pretty limited, so we ended up finding street parking around back. Sound was a little rough in spots and definitely felt like a few things could've been worked out during sound check, but it never ruined the show. The bar was a mixed bag. My non-alcoholic pineapple cider was surprisingly delightful, super refreshing and not overly sweet. Free water is also available from the hydration station, which I appreciate in theory, but unfortunately the water tasted pretty terrible. They advertised pizza and had a pizza warmer at the bar, but we never actually saw any pizza available that night. My biggest complaint was the alcohol service. We watched one older guy put away four beers within about three songs, and shortly afterward he drunkenly fell into me. Definitely felt like a situation where someone should've been cut off sooner. That aside, we still had a genuinely fun night. Great staff, cool atmosphere, good lighting and an intimate setup that makes for a fun concert experience. With a little tighter sound and bar management, this place could be excellent.

Kane and his staff are amazing, they are all extremely genuine and welcoming whenever we visit Northside, and the bar is exactly what one should want in a neighborhood bar. Drinks aren't fancy but they're reasonably priced, the pour is good and the atmosphere is perfect. If you want a $17 craft cocktail then Northside isn't the place for you, but if you're a tourist in town that wants a good vibe that won't break your bank, or a local who wants to truly feel welcomed and invited in then I would highly recommend stopping in to Northside.
