For cataracts there are quite a few tests you must endure and everyone I encountered was happy to answer my inane questions (I nervous talk and ask dumb things just to fill the silence). Dr. Ireland could see how disappointed I was that the fancy Ferrari lenses would not work for me due to potential overlap with my LASIK scars being a hindrance rather than a help. She was able to offer a solution with a mid-range lens (neither far, nor near optimized, but mid-range vision like a computer screen). Because most of my work is done on a computer this was a good compromise. The wait after having eyes dilated is a bit longer. Bring something to occupy your time and you'll be fine. Or take a nap. At the time I had mine done I wasn't in my 50s, yet, and it was delightful to hear the other patients say, "but you're so young!" :D If you ever want to hear you're young, get arthritis and have cataracts before age 50, lol. Billing went smoothly. No issues there. I did have to pay a little extra for my Land Rover lenses versus the Corolla version. Be sure to ask more questions. I think I would have been fine with the Corolla (these are my layperson terms, not medical terms) and I should have inquired deeper, but as my mom still lives and breathes so too does she push for the "best" for me. Sometimes you have to ignore Mom, y'all. I'm not unhappy, but I will forever wonder if Corolla would have served me well. Aftercare was flawless. I am Well behind on my appointments due to life events (we all have Those things happen, right?). I'm looking forward to seeing the office staff at the Brownwood office and following up with Dr. Causey. Not only is he professional, but he's kind and happy to explain and listen to what's going on with your orbs. And yes, he also endures my inane questions.

After paying that, she went to EyeSite to get her new glasses. When the new glasses came in, she tried them on and found she could not see that well. We questioned whether they were made correctly, and they assured us they were; to prove they were right, they had one of their optometrists recheck her eyes. The prescription received from St. Luke's was wrong. They ordered the new glasses from the revised prescription, and she could see perfectly. We went back to St. Luke's and asked for a refund, as the work they performed was not right. They gave her $50.00 back and said that was the best they could do. I wrote the main office to request the $ 124.48, but no one ever got back to me. I am disappointed by the attitude they showed. I will be contacting Medicare and United Healthcare to inform them of the poor service that she received. One-star service.

ALL medical providers must, for insurance, HIPAA and other legal purposes, use patients' legal names for their records and insurance claims. Right? Right. However, medical (and all other service) providers should and must as a matter of courtesy and respect, in their offices, call and address people by the names they use and prefer. This Lake Eye Associates group of offices has for over a prolonged period failed/fails to annotate its patient charts with patients preferred names, in order to address patients by their preferred names. If service providers, ;such as this one, don't honor and respect patient desires in this small way, what else will they choose to neglect? This is a poor office practice that reulted/resutls in a poor office experience.

My dad is a long-term patient who routinely gets his eye exams by Lake Eye. The doctors caught the forming cataracts and monitored until the cataracts needed surgery. He's had one surgery and is awaiting the other. Everyone was very patient with his nervousness and all my after-care questions. Avoid Sharon who helps pick out frames and arranges making the glasses! Go to the Tavaras location instead. The good thing is she isn't high pressure or concerned about making sales. However, She doesn't listen. First, she insisted that my broken glass frames, which were not purchased there, were under warranty even though they are not. I told her lenses under a year old and frames were over 2 years old. Second, she insisted I replace them at the store I got them instead of just giving her the prescription and paying for new glasses frames ($215) and lenses. She could not understand, because she wouldn't listen, that I only had sunglasses as a backup and needed my regular glasses to read, drive, and work (even if the ear piece was taped). I told her I didn't want to drive down to Miami. She snottily replied "have you never heard of mail". Now, how is that suppose to solve my problem as I would be without glasses for a substantial period of time especially using snail mail?Totally disgusted and frustrated, I sat down in the waiting room to await my dad. While I was waiting, an elderly couple came into see Sharon explaining that the husband had scratched one of his transitions lens badly and wanted to purchase a replacement lens or have the scratch buffed out. Sharon explained she could not buff out a transition lens so the couple attempted to order a replacement lens. When Sharon was told that he had an appointment at the end of November, she told them it would be less expensive to wait for the new prescription. The wife explained again that he couldn't see and the scratch was causing headaches. Sharon replied it would be cheaper to wait and told them to go home and reconsider their decision. Looking befuddled, they left. Really?!?! My elderly mom who in her southern belle way was quite well dressed for the doctors wandered over to the glasses area.
