When I found out my gramma was in the hospital, the first thing I told my dad was that she has…read moregreat insurance she can go anywhere, why are you keeping her at midcoast? Boy, was I wrong. Happy nurses day to ALEX and ERIN for taking care of my gramma and myself and my family during her last hours, and then some. I asked 1000x if it was okay to touch her (her infection, etc) and never once did they make me feel stupid or ignorant for asking so many times. Instead, they came in multiple times, they responded to my families and mines's every need. More Importantly, they responded to my grammas every need. From bringing a chaplain and food basket unannounced, to offering to bring me a cot knowing I was the one flying in from Miami, to never questioning the family for going in the "restricted/nurses only food area for drinks or sandwiches" to making sure my gramma passed in comfort. You gave us the comfort and space she and us needed. I flew in one weekend, my grammas last weekend, and got blessed with Erin and Alex for their respective shifts the final few days. I work in the medical field in administration, and the service these two nurses provided, their empathy and care for their patients and their families, is beyond rare and incredible. The care my family, more importantly my gramma experienced, is something you can't teach. Erin and Alex, you two are angels. You will always hold a special place in my heart for seeing how delicately and special you treated my family, me, and most importantly my grandmother during her final hours. On National Nurses Day, I couldn't think of 2 better nurses to thank. You both clearly found your calling, and thank you for listening and following it. Thank you forever. This hospital isn't a place I'd send my worst enemies…read more I'm sure there are some good doctors and staff here. But you'd run the risk of getting radiology services, specifically from Maureen Charette and Jamie Kline, and you don't want to do this in your worst nightmare. I went in for a bread and butter breast biopsy to screen for cancer. You'd think they could handle something they do every week. You'd be dead wrong. Here is what Dr. Maureen Charette did during my biopsy: complain about her low salary talk about how annoying it is to go out for a nice dinner on busy nights tell me I did great and she got a good sample Here is what she did NOT do: stick a large sharp needle into the correct part of my body, or figure out if I had cancer. I might be able to excuse simple rank incompetence. But even worse than being a bad doctor, Maureen Charette is a bad person. When the pathologist told her in writing she had gotten the wrong spot, she decided NOT TO TELL ME ANYTHING WAS WRONG, and just tell me it was benign and I should come back in 6 months (to, umm, give her more money for more shoddy work). When I decided to look for my medical records and take them to competent doctors who actually know what they're doing and confirmed Maureen had completely missed the biopsy (in multiple major hospitals in multiple states), she doubled down on the deceit, hiding behind her tech, too scared to face me herself. Her boss Jamie Kline covered for her, either as incompetent as Maureen, or just a bad person. Jamie actually hung up the phone on me when I showed her I knew more about the issue than she did. Keep it classy, ladies. When I did a formal review process, Dr. Christopher Bowe, head of Midcoast, just shrugged and sent me a letter saying I'd signed a consent form saying not getting actual results (after $2,000 out of pocket after insurance) was all hunky dory. I am proud of myself for escaping medical abuse at the hands of Midcoast hospital and their radiologists. Maureen Charette and Jamie Kline are abusers, and Christopher Bowe enables abuse. Please, do not become an abuse victim yourself. Competent medical care is available as little as a half hour away, in Portland, or really anywhere but Midcoast. Avoid being abused, lied to, and gaslit. Shake a Magic 8 ball for free if you want to get a medical results randomizer like you'd get from MIdcoast. Just skip going to this shameful joke of a medical facility. Maureen and Jamie, you know what you did. I think. If you don't actually understand what you did wrong, then the problem is even deeper.

On the Walk-In Clinic, I've been coming here for a while now, when I need to be seen for milder things but can't make it to my primary care. Depending on staffing and how busy they are, yes, you may have to wait a while. But that's how walk-in clinics work. You walk-in when you want, and they'll see you as soon as they can. On some of the negative reviews on here- If you're actively bleeding, you should be going to the ER (or maybe an urgent care). This is a walk-in clinic, you're not prioritized. This is not the place for that kind of care. If you have something viral, no they're not going to give you antibiotics, because they're for bacteria, not viruses. It won't help with what you're sick with. All they can do is give you advice on what to do, and tell you to suck it up. I came here today, and also didn't eat before I came. That's on me, and not them. It's not their job to make sure you take care of yourself before you come here. And again, you may have to wait a while. It's a roll of the dice. Just show up and hope they're not busy. No, you can't leave and hold your spot in line. That's not how it works You would be getting out of line. Did you not learn how lines work when you were little?

I have read all the reviews and I don't understand what people have a problem with. I have had my…read moreDr (Dr Montegut) for probably close to 30 years. First when he was with Bowdoin Medical Group, then MMC, then back to BMG which became Martin's Point. I have NEVER had a problem with my PCP, although I did have problems with some staff at MMC (unresponsive, less than cordial, sometimes bordering on rude or inconsiderate). During my recent and ongoing medical ordeal, I have had nothing but praise. I went in for a personal medical procedure tutorial and felt another issue that confronted me during the previous night. Although my PCP was not in, I was able to see (within 10 minutes) another member of the medical team NP Kate Pinkerton. I had never seen NP Pinkerton, but I was treated like a long time patient. Within 30 minutes I was at the Mid Coast Hospital getting prepped for a CT Imaging scan (drink the dye, wait, get the iodine IV and off to the CT tube). I was really in tough shape by then and they let me lay down and rest til I was composed enough to drive home. Later that day the attending Physicians team called my home and explained in detail what they had found so far concerning my kidneys and gall bladder and informed me that my test results would be examined further and if needed I would get another call which I did the following morning advising me of what was discovered and I was directed to come down for another precise type of test for my kidneys. Later that same day, within hours, a member of the Martin's Point team called me at home on Friday and I was given further instructions and the team set me up to see a surgeon on Monday. Now I don't know about anyone else but I believe that this is quite competent and considerate care of setting me up to have several different procedures in three different locations with no less than two affiliated entities in a matter of 4 days (excluding the weekend). I was also told that, if I had any problems during the weekend that the Mid Coast Hospital emergency dept had information on me on what was going on with me and to notify my Martin's Point health team in case I showed up at the ER. This to me contradicts most of the reviews that I have read on here. I have no use for any other health team other than my health team at Martin's point. They are not miracle workers. I did not go there expecting to get a blood test, a pill and have all my medical problems solved in one hour with the cost of a $35 co-pay. I have a friend who expects this (immediate satisfaction) and is always at odds with the medical community wherever he goes. Martin's Point and Mid-coast Hospital rate a number one in my book. Maybe I'm special, but I doubt it.
