He didn't argue and pleasantly brought me to my room for intake and to wait for my doctor. Dr. Abbott came in and chatted with me about my symptoms. He was very detailed and never seemed rushed to get to his next appointment. In the next couple of visits he has done the same and has given me several techniques to help alleviate pain along with his work that he has done on my neck and surrounding muscles. Sometimes runs late (don't all doctors) but overall an amazing experience and will continue to go to have work done on my neck.

Today they admitted they did not send it and that they are so back logged that it takes 6-8 weeks for them to submit prior authorizations for routine refill requests. This is a crazy unacceptable detail, and to make it worse they never told me of the delay. When I asked for a phone number to the leadership team, the PA was done within an hour. Previously I had to call / send portal message 4 times for a refill and was then told they were back up and I should call every time I need a refill instead of using the refill line or portal refill. Why can't they hire adequate staff?

They hadn't even done the required legwork to get the surgical information from the surgeon's office. She spoke with her practice manager and asked for the notes to be requested. When she returned, she said there would be no charge that day, and then said we could start doing some therapy. I told her I didn't want her yanking my arm without her seeing the reports and knowing what the surgery entailed. On my way out, the front desk clerk INSISTED that a co-pay must be collected even though no work was done and the practice manager said there would be no charge that day. It was worth the $31 to get out of there and make the 45 minutes each-way drive to Brunswick for professional PT experiences. Avoid.

Recent carpal tunnel surgery was efficient…read more(left wrist) My other wrist was done by ordinary surgery and I experienced a longer recovery with some lingering pain for a couple of months. OA of Maine uses a percutaneous release with ultrasound leaving a tiny scar, very short recovery, and no need for physical therapy (PT). Obviously each case is different. My previous surgery was a mini-open release which required considerable PT. But bear in mind that the orthopedic surgeon will advise the best procedure for your particular anatomy and issue.

They told me it would be a $40 copay each session which felt steep, but they said it was the "most effective dosing" and referred me to a graph on a poster. After my first session, I told them that I didn't think my insurance would cover parts of treatment and that I was concerned with getting billed. I asked Dr Zagwyn to confirm with billing that it would only be a $40 copay and she did. Then I get a bill for $300 followed by an email that they had made an error but I was still responsible for the bill. I should also mention that while going through their many stations there is a lot of inappropriate conversation between staff as they "work" on you. There are many other honest chiropractors in town. Very disappointed with lack of transparency here.

My mother and my father have benefitted from NER in the past 2 years (2025-26)…read more No one wants to need these services, but they are amazing. The facility is dated but well maintained. The food is borderline unhealthy, but no one is going to starve. However, the care is exceptional. My mother ended up here at 86 after a major emergency abdominal surgery - she thrived and returned to baseline. After dealing with "regular" (but very fancy) rehab for our father (88) after a fall, we transferred him to NER in a pique of frustration. Staff was fabulous and, most importantly, communicated reality. Dad's outcome was less positive - but NER was honest with us where regular rehab was clearly just stringing us along. We had already paid for a very nice assisted living spot for Dad - and ultimately felt the regular rehab just churned Medicare for money. NER was efficient and honest. They helped with the difficult discussions with Dad about not returning home. If I won the lottery - I would help them build a better facility - but the staff here is top notch.
