Abi Moldanado for the win! He is beyond talented at his craft and is well versed in the ancient practice of, "Ashiatsu", (which involves the therapist walking on your back) this has been performed by Buddhist monks for centuries. He provided an incredibly deep massage, all while still being gentle . . . Relieved all my back ache and stress. Wish I didn't live in Florida or I'd have a weekly appointment! Thank you Abi read more

I have had 2 massages before this experience (basic massages at other spas) and this was my least favorite. I booked stone massages for my friend and I to celebrate our birthdays. I chose this place because they had availability and had great reviews online. The two main reasons I did not like the experience is because we received the wrong massages. Instead of stone massages we received standard massages. Our masseuse was very apologetic when she realized the error while checking us out. I appreciate her confirming that because I otherwise would have thought that's just what stone massages are like. The second reason is because it was hard to relax. There are two massage rooms and the waiting room. We unfortunately could hear everything in the next room because the other masseuse talked very loudly to her patients. All this being said, the massage itself worked. I had some crazy tension in my neck/shoulders area and Brogan worked them right out! She was a professional with the massage and owning the mix-up with massage types. I really loved working with her and would still come back if she had an opening. read more

Since moving to Maine earlier this year, I've been looking to find a place where I can get a true deep tissue massage experience. While living in Boston, I had a wide range of massage options, including a woman who convinced me to let her walk on my back. It was awkward and it didn't do much for me. I've had a couple of massages since I arrived in Maine. The latest was at Massage on Maine. The owner, Abi, explained the various types of massage he provides and I told him what I was looking for. He mentioned he uses his feet. When I told him about my experience of the woman walking on by back, he assured me he doesn't do that. Using both his hands and feet, he provided the best massage I've had in years. I highly recommend Massage on Maine. read more

Not only was the massage wonderful and professional, Abi and his team were fantastic in helping me to coordinate scheduling based on my limited availability and made sure my friend and I were able to get in. I would absolutely go back in a heartbeat the next time I'm in the area. Thanks Abi! read more

I had a fantastic Christmas massage with Abi, including deep tissue and hot stones and stretching. Clean, warm facility. Wonderful 90 minutes that left me giddy because it was so good. We have recommended Abi to my in-laws, and would recommend him to friends. Abi is very careful to ensure he checks your comfort level with activities, and works hard to make sure all the knots in your back come out. Highly recommended! read more

Abi is a wonderful therapist. I have come to him for both general relaxation, which is an amazing experience, and for acute treatment, which has saved my life. When I threw my lower back out, Abi was able to recommend and execute treatment that 100% directly relieved my discomfort and set me on an accelerated path to recovery. Deep tissue, hot stones, cupping, shiatsu were are all employed. While Abi's services are A+ (contrary to some other reviewers, it is very clear Abi has had extensive training), he has a personality to boot. He's personable, engaging (if you want), and genuinely cares about the impact his work has on his clients. I can't recommend Abi enough. read more

You know that feeling of looking forward to your massage and lying down on the table, anticipating the relaxation you will feel? Well, I was so disappointed with my massage yesterday. I kept thinking, how much longer will this last? That is not the feeling you want to have on the massage table! I guess Nan is the better therapist. Her husband is very nice man, but I'm assuming he is not trained like Nan. It didn't feel like he had any training at all. It felt to me like either he was still in Massage school- which is fine- but then that must be stated to the customer right away up front. Or, he had just graduated from Massage school- which is fine, but then do not charge me $95.00. Again, he is a nice person but does not know how to do massage. I asked specifically for help with my rotator cuff issue. He rubbed and rubbed the shoulder but did not find the nuances, did not find the smaller spaces where rotator cuff issues present themselves. I have had tons of massage over a period of 30 years, and at this point, I do know that the Teres Major and Teres Minor muscles are involved and those are around the shoulder blade area. He did not demonstrate any knowledge of any muscle groups. He just rubbed up and down my back and up and down my legs. He did not have any specific massage skills that I could tell. It was just very disappointing. The music was pleasant Native American flute music. The sound of the running water was pleasant. The smell of lavender on the face cradle was pleasant. But I will not be returning. read more

You know when you enter a place and immediately feel a sense of warmth and caring and just know that you have come to a practice that will heal you? Abi provides this experience, from the moment you walk into his door until the time you leave. We stopped in from out of town and he provided the most thoughtful and intuitive massage I ever received. He was communicative and adjusted pressure according to my needs. He truly made me feel much looser and more flexible in a way I haven't felt for some time. Additionally, he is empathetic and truly loves what he does and is very welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone and would suggest that if he has availability that works for you you take it as soon as you can- I suspect that he will shortly be booked out far into the future with the level of service he provides. read more

Had an exceptional couples massage today. Highly recommend Massage on Maine when visiting southern Maine.

My sweetie and I were coming up for a weekend away and decided to book a couples massage between arriving by train in Brunswick and staying the night in Bath. The problem was: the train was running horrendously late. I let Nan know and she was so accommodating and understanding about either needing to cancel or rescheduled the appointment. We made it to the appointment a bit late, but she was able to still get us in for a shortened session, which was so lovely. Now, here's where it gets good: we both got to experience ashiatsu for the first time, and let me tell you: you should get in there for this. Ashiatsu is a deep tissue barefoot massage and I felt like I've been missing out on this my entire life. It felt so good on some places that more traditional modalities don't always or can't always get into deeply, like the hips, glutes, quads, and hamstrings. I'm only bummed because Brunswick is a bit far to go for a massage, but also just might be worth it. Thanks, Nan and Abi! read more

My partner and I, received a couples massage on Sunday from Abi and Ashley. I felt a little guilty hogging the abi magic all to myself, since my partner has been dealing with sore shoulders from walking our Boston terrier. You know the masseuse is giving it their all when you hear the occasional grunt or heavy breathing. Ashley did a great job as well. My beautiful girlfriend had recently been dealing with a fluid retention issue in her mid section. Ashley was able to get those fluids loose and sloshing around in no time. We can't wait to go back! read more

One of the best massages I have ever had. If you are looking for a very very deep tissue sports massage then you have found your spot. Abi is incredible. My legs feel brand new. I would suggest definitely going for 90 minutes. He gets an A+ read more

Obi and nan are wonderful!! Much needed relaxing massage. Great location and laid back atmosphere. We will be back

It brings me no joy to rate Massage on Maine poorly - after all, I make it a point, whenever possible, to support local small businesses. In fact, I was looking forward to a massage and have plenty of experience getting massages - well over 150 of them across them internationally. Whatever I got today was NOT a Swedish massage. I'm not sure what I'd call it, but it seemed amateurish and unpleasant. If you do contact Massage on Maine for services, beware of the male massage therapist - the "service" I received today was not even close to being worth the $95 I paid. I had indicated that I needed my shoulders to be focused on, yet he spent very little time on my shoulders. All he did was rub up and down my torso, arms and legs, with no focus on anything, really. I hate to say it, but I'd rather pay $95 to NOT have a massage at Massage on Maine before I'd pay to get one there again. read more

Nan is a really special human and body worker. She worked with me to release both physical and emotional tension. I'm so happy I found a practitioner of this caliber in Brunswick. read more

My BF birthday. I booked an hour half 90 mins message. He told me they only booked for an hour. There's a big diff in this. Not happy. No answer when I called. Will be calling again to get a proper explanation and make sure don't charge my card! Thanks / you suck. read more

Unbelievable Ashiatsu massage you must go here if you want a real massage. My son's girlfriend and I were visiting and we have been getting massages for years and have never had any like this they do not go through the motions here they give you a real massage. If you live in Brunswick or are visiting you must go here no other place. It was so good I bought gift certificates for my sister and husband and son on the spot. Nan and her husband are professionals investing their time in your massage. You will not be disappointed. read more

I just had my first Ashiatsu treatment with Nan, and I have already scheduled my next one! If you've ever received a massage and thought, well that felt amazing but it didn't quite get to the issue, well may I recommend Ashiatsu. The body work was very deep, but not so deep as to feel uncomfortable or too intense. The experience was of incredible release and was deeply relaxing and nourishing, while also hitting all of my source issues of discomfort, tension, and imbalance in my body. Nan is wonderful, not just because she is so kind and warm and incredibly skilled at what she does, but, she possesses the ability to listen to what is needed. Nan has an incredible capacity to hold space, listen, and provide nourishment and healing. With her bodywork and with her words, she provided me with exactly what I needed, which happened to be some very powerful medicine. Thank you for such a wonderful experience! I plan on coming back soon and often! read more

I was visiting family on a holiday weekend and wanted to get a massage while in town. I suffer from chronic lower back pain and sciatica and I've had many massages to target these issues over the years, but nothing like this! Nan is a miracle worker! She did not mess around and got right to the problem area. She has so many techniques for targeting and relieving pain. She even offered cupping therapy at no extra cost! I walked away from this massage feeling like a new person. My pain was alleviated and I felt completely rejuvenated. I'll definitely be coming back next time. It is a must! read more

We were just passing through on holiday and I developed a tremendous cramp in my left hand - I asked around the strip for a recommendation, and Massage on Maine was number 1 in town. Not only did my hand resolve, I made it another month without any neck, shoulder or back pain. What a pleasure it was to meet Nan and experience her fantastic healing ability. read more

Immediately after my massage, this is what I felt like: "My head is radiating contentment. It feels like my brain is wrapped up in a thick cozy blanket. Snuggled up tight, I can breath more deeply and let my eyes droop happily as I look upon the world with a soft easy smile. An aroma therapeutic massage by Nan has released my body from tension and expelled knots and nodules that drew my wincing attention in too many directions. Now my nerves are still and satiated." I get massages a couple times per year, but haven't had one this good in roughly a decade. Too often, I go for a massage, which may be nice enough, but within hours I could easily forget it. After my massage with Nan, I could feel the release of tension and pain, but it was also replaced with more relaxing blood flow, the positive effects of which I was conscious of for days. Her comfortable and kind manner made a positive difference as wel. She made just enough conversation to make me feel comfortable with her without making me feel too distracted from the massage. I definitely plan on returning! read more

Nan is amazing. She asks you how your day is like an old friend. Makes you feel at home and safe. She takes care of herself and her staff and her clients on the table. I feel renewed and happy every time I leave there and that's only been twice. I have never found a masseuse that has done the type of work and made the type of connection that she does. She uses organic products and a kind touch with them. But when asked, as I did, for a deep tissue massage I truly got it. Thank you and I can't wait to make my next appointment. read more

Nan is magic! She provides a wonderful combination of intuition and deeply therapeutic massage techniques. Thank you, Nan!

I just received a massage from Nan today. It was a fantastic massage! I feel so relaxed and she worked out a lot of kinks. I feel like I'm walking a lot lighter and my posture has improved. She used hot stones, warm towels, and resistance and breathing work! It was exactly what I needed. Thanks Nan! read more
