I didn't think this place was that bad. All the previous negative reviews on here almost dissuaded me from this place. True, the employees don't say hi. I attribute that to a cultural thing more than as a deliberate attempt at rudeness. It's a really good-sized store. They have a lot of cool display tanks, and a really good variety of fish, corals, crabs, snails, anenome, etc. The prices were a tad on the higher side when compared to say, Snorkels in Hurst, but they have way more variety. I'm also grateful that this place is strictly SALTWATER. No real estate is wasted here on goldfish. Just triggers, lionfish, and gobies (oh my!). If you seek the employees and ask them questions, they'll answer them, so it's not like they'd continuously ice you out. Not little kid friendly. They had a lot of open sump tanks and many colorful things to look at. Luckily there's a boba tea house next door I took her to chill her out. read more

I have been to this store several times and I have purchased several items and several livestock. They have a great variety of coral and reefs for purchase! The fish sell out fast, but they can reserve them for you. Sure, no one is there hovering over you to buy anything (which I prefer) but there is always someone willing to answer all of my questions. The staff is very friendly and if they don't know something, they quickly find out. Their prices are pretty average compared to other places. Not more, and not less. I will definitely be back! Note: They only sell saltwater fish and livestock. You won't find fresh water fish here. There were no dead fish or rude employees on their phone. Don't believe the negative reviews. If you need help or have a question, just ask. Don't expect people to kiss your arse just bc you're a protective buyer. read more

When I walked in no one greeted me, there were 3 guys, one was helping someone else, and the other 2 were standing around talking. I walked around for a bit to see if any assistance was going to be offered, and nothing. I was interested in possibly purchasing a salt water aquarium and had questions about the set-up of it. However, sadly after no attempt from their end, I ended up just walking out and they ended up losing a potential client. As far as the facility the fish aquariums we very clean and the fish were not all clammed up in small tanks. They kept their fish and tanks well maintained. I have been going to Mid-Cities the last 6 months and have never really had a bad experience with their staff. They are always friendly and never try to upsell me on coral or fish that will not work in my tank. I bought a 34gallon Red Sea tank back in May and I shopped it online before going just to make sure I was getting a good deal and their prices were a few bucks less than major retailers online. After purchasing the tank I signed up for their maintenance service which they come twice a month and each time they are always friendly and answer any of my questions while they are doing their work. A few weeks ago I decided it was time to upgrade to a larger tank and they had a crew out there the next week to move me to a 65 gallon tank and it was a flawless transition. I don't recommend this company for your aquarium maintenance. When I first hired them it took them a while to finally understand the schedule that we set up. They would come on the wrong day and at the wrong time. They finally got it right. Things were fine for a while. After a few months I kept having to call after they came to our home to clean because the work wasn't done properly. Over the last few months they simply didn't show up on the scheduled maintenance day. No call to apologize. No call to reschedule. Nothing. I had to call them to find out what was going on. 3 weeks ago they didn't show up. I called & they sent someone on a Saturday to clean. They were supposed to come last Thursday. No show. No call to apologize. No call to reschedule. I haven't heard a peep. Call another company if you want reliable maintenance. UPDATE: I received a message from this business that claimed they didn't show up because we didn't pay our invoices. They have one of our credit cards on file. He/she claimed that several calls and emails were sent that we ignored & that they have proof of documentation. They also asked me to change my Yelp review. They argue that it's unfair that I give them a public, negative review. Apparently they don't know the purpose of Yelp. I asked what number they called & to send me copies of the several emails they claim to have. Again, no reply. This is one of those businesses that choose to blame the client rather than accept responsibility or attempt to rectify the situation. I'll reiterate: don't use this company for aquarium maintenance. read more

Disappointing. Aquariums would imply that they would sell both fresh and salt water fish. Although they don't. Difficult building to find. Only staff member was somewhat rude. Didn't even acknowledge I was inside until I basically walked in from of him. Skip this place. read more

I recently bought my first saltwater tank here after years of wanting one. They've been extremely helpful and friendly. I don't think I've ever not been greeted here and helped, even though most of the time I'm just browsing. They came and set up my aquarium two weeks ago and came back this morning to do a water change. They are always very professional and friendly. They were even patient with my dog who is under the impression that everyone that comes over needs to throw his toys. Both of my pups were so excited to see Tommy. I went in today because I had to buy a heater and the employee there was incredibly nice. He took the time to thoroughly answer a few questions I had. read more

I have nothing bad to say about mid cities aquariums. Their staff have always been knowledgable and friendly with me. Most of them employees have knowledge of the reef aquarium and they are there to assist you with any thing you need. They have some beautiful display aquariums in their store and everything to make your aquarium beautiful. I find all their corals to be responsibly priced and they even have some nice leathers starting at 19.99. read more

Great place! I have been coming here for about 5 years. I was new to the saltwater world and they have helped me all the way. I had a tank leak on my first tank, which I bought used, and they were out within the hour to off load all fish, coral and rocks to save the day then they set me back up. Nice guys!! ....try saying "hi" first or ask your question instead of waiting for someone to come talk to you. Most people appreciate the non- sales approach! read more

I kind of like being able to walk in a store and not get harassed or bombarded by salesmen. The 2 owners are both very nice and knowledgable. If you need something you need to ask someone. pretty simple. Nice selection of coral. Worst fish store ever....seriously...remove your dead fish at least if your trying to sell live ones, and don't get me started on the staff...at least the dead fish moved around and weren't glued to their phone while I walked around. This place doesn't even deserve one star. read more
