Our a/c broke down completely and it was 90 degrees in the house. No fun, especially when you have a cranky toddler who needs to take his nap! Nick was able to come out that same day and tested all the components of our outside unit. When he came back and told me the diagnosis, I had to tell him it was up to my husband and I didn't think there was any way he was going to drop $600 on a dying machine. Nick went out there anyway and replaced our dead capacitor with a capacitor he basically had in his trash pile for free. It got the a/c going again, didn't keep the house much cooler but it did go down a few degrees so it wasn't crazy intolerable. I really appreciated that! He even spoke with us about our unit with my husband on speaker phone. He didn't seem super happy about us wanting to get other quotes, but hey a new a/c unit is super expensive! Of course we want the best deal and most for our money! I did note that he didn't didn't look at our duct work at all...I do think he mentioned he would look at it when we scheduled an appointment to go over unit prices when my husband was home though. He recommended a 5 ton unit by Lennox. We ended up going with another company who recommended we get a 3.5 ton unit as long as we fixed the duct work (which they did as well.) Just had a very bad experience with these guys. Their tech lost his cool and had an attitude with me and my mother.He was very agitated. This WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND FINALLY THE TECH LEFT after accusing me of having a problem. Don't trust these people to act professionally. I'd give them zero stars but i had to give them one to get the review to post. I went with Stark and couldn't be happier. Edit: You weren't there, Cindy. I absolutely did not come out of my house cursing. That is a lie. The classless way I'm being talked to by you should tell anyone everything they need to know about your lack of professionalism. I consider your response slanderous and perhaps you had better reconsider your tone in the future when dealing with people. MANAGEMENT accusing me of cursing their employee is low down. I'm glad STARK AIR was curteous and professional. I didn't have any problems with them. Never in my life have i been treated this poorly by a business. As i said, STARK AIR came the next day and were great guys. I'm not responsible for your easily offended employees. Two years ago when this compressor was installed your tech told me they were cheap pieces of junk. Your employee had a covid freakout, and clearly tried to play the victim and became disrespectful. If there is a recording you heard that. Nobody comes to my mothers house and disrespects my family or me. Let it go, and try to act properly. Had you approached this situation with class as a business manager, I'd have taken my review down. At no time did i abuse your tech. You need to leave your bosses name and phone number if you want to keep this charade up. Maybe your employees need to be taught the right and wrong ways to interact with customers. THANK YOU. Our AC went out in the early evening and around 3am I couldn't stand it anymore. I did some digging around on Yelp and Google and found Mid-Cities Air Conditioning and Heating. I gave them a call right then. They picked up quickly and we set-up for them to come at 8am that same morning. The tech was on time and after checking a few items he figured out the problem. He ran me through the problem and had a solution and price with in minutes. We had the air going in less than 30 minutes after he arrived. I'm picky when it comes to costumer service and these guys were great. Very professional (even at 3am), quick to fix the problems, and good pricing. Would recommend them highly. read more

I called Thur morning and got a 12-4 time window the same day. They called around 2:30 and said a tech was on the way. Daniel was friendly and very professional. He listened and checked the inside and outside units. No issue with coolant or capacitors and after more checking he found that the float valve was being tripped by a plugged drain line. He checked and cleaned the lines at the attic unit and I found a possible blockage where it drain line meets the sink in the upstairs bathroom. I got it to drain a bit and he explained that if I needed additional help he would be more than glad to come out again. Cost was just a service call fee. Again Daniel was super polite and I would not hesitate to call them again and ask for him. Hvac service calls are pretty scary, not this time!! read more

I tried to use your company, but you didn't want my business. Called inquiring about the costs of having my 2 units acid cleaned. Was advised that I would have to pay a service fee and she didn't know the price of the cleaning nor did she offer to find out. So, you want me to pay a $120 service fee for your tech to come out, say "yap, these need to be cleaned" and hope he knows the price. Update: Mid-Cities' refusal to service the unit they installed in June of 2017 forced me to call another company; Berkeys of Southlakee. They came y'day. After inspection, I was told there is good news/bad news. Good news is repairs can be made. Bad news, Mid-Cities did such a shoddy job repairing & installing parts that the warranties were voided. In M-C's refusal of service text they told me that another AC company could replace any parts, free of charge, since parts would still be under warranty. Totally not true. Berkeys came at 9 am today & left at 12. AC working great, blowing wonderful cold air. After having no AC since last Fri night, I can't explain how good it feels. My wife, who has advanced dementia was miserable last night, when the temp reached 90F in our home. She got up every 15-20 min just to walk around, knowing she felt bad but didn't know why. Looks like we're good to go now. I will go back to M-C and ask for the $2396 I paid them July 5 of 2017. After what their refusal of service has put us through, I can't imagine they will refuse. But again I'm still dumbfounded by their claim that I was "rude" to their employees last year. One call to Berkeys and our 4 day stint in the oven is over. All AC calls from me will now go to Berkeys. I strongly suggest you do the same. Mid-Cities will need to do some soul searching, & personnel makeover to once again instill a customer friendly atmosphere. Stay cool everyone.. read more

We do have to say, that this company made the BEST out of a bad situation. After doing a no-show due to software issues and miscommunication on their part, they reimbursed us for our hotel night stay and also sent us a dining gift card. I called mid-day and by 4PM we had a technician (Nick) at our house working to solve the issue. Nick was super professional and went out of his way to correct our problem so we had heat for Thanksgiving! I usually do not take time to post reviews, but these guys are so overpriced that I just had to post a review to give people warning: We called these guys out to get an estimate to move our condenser units to another area of our house. They quoted $13,000!!! That is outrageous!!! That is more than 4 times the amount of our the lowest estimate. My wife told the guy "no thanks, our last estimate was less than half of that amount", and in a rude tone the guy says "well, why did you call me out, then?!" Why would a company be upset that you are getting multiple quotes, to make sure you are getting a fair deal? He told my wife that this price was half the price that they usually charge for a new installtion. Well...I had these two condensers along with new a-coils installed brand new, 2 years ago, for less than $7,000. And, this company wants to run 4 copper lines and 2 electrical lines to another area for $13,000?! No thanks! The problem with companies like this is that people just don't know how much things should cost and guys like these will rip them off. read more

On Thursday Mid Cities Air Conditioning and Heating quoted us $9745 to replace our HVAC with a 14seer Trane. 2 stars due to pricing and their non-refundable deposit. I am not educated on HVAC costs and our air was completely out upstairs. Their tech Jonathan was clean cut and professional. He let us know it would be a $500 deposit to hold a spot Monday for the job. Jonathan did not verbally state that the $500 was non-refundable. He told me that if we didn't put a $500 deposit down, and his next stop needed a job on Monday, we would lose that spot. I wrote a $500 deposit check. Jonathan did hook up a 'swamp cooler' in our bedroom for the time being. After Jonathan left, we spoke to some friends that thought that amount was high. Within 2 hours of checking around we figured out that the quote was very high. We had Mid Cities come out because we had used them in the past. We decided to go with another company who was $4000 less with all 5-star reviews and an excellent Better Business rating. I called Mid-cities to cancel and that is when I was told our $500 deposit for Monday was non-refundable. I then received my emailed invoice, also stating that our deposit was non-refundable. Mid-Cities wanted to pick up the swamp cooler ASAP but did not because they weren't open when we would be home for them to pick it up. That softened the sting a bit of losing our $500. They did come first thing this morning to pick it up. This is a painful $500 lesson. We have another HVAC system for our downstairs that will need to be replaced eventually - we won't be using Mid Cities Air Conditioning and Heating. read more

They were unwilling to work with me, clarify the language on the invoice or help me in any way. If you have a specific requirement on your invoice--or expect any help after they are paid. Please be warned!! This company is a rip off!! Less than two weeks ago the technician came out because my AC wasn't working and he determined it needed freon, filled it up, $400 later it seemingly worked fine. Fast forward less than two weeks and the AC stopped working all together. The same guy came out again said the capacitor went out which needed to be replaced for $270 plus another $65 fee for the trip out. First off all I don't think charging another $65 for the diagnostic is fair when this is less than 2 weeks later! Second of all I quickly looked online to find that capacitor he wanted to charge $270 for was only a $14-25 part! He had already begun installing the new one even though I never actually gave the go ahead to do so. My exact words were 'another $270, oh fuck'. And he proceed to go to his truck get the part and start installing. Once I realized he was charging me an extra $245 for labor I told him to take the new one out, that I wasn't interested in having it replaced right now. He was obviously pissed (understandably, but next time make sure you get a clear verbal confirmation before starting the work. And if someone is about to spend $300 maybe give them 5-10 mins to think about it. He was only at my house for a total of 15 mins!) He then proceeded to put the old capacitor back in with two of the wires flipped so either he doesn't know how to do his job and doesn't know which wires go where or he is just a prick and wanted to leave it messed up assuming I was going to buy my own and match how it was on there. Regardless I figured out the mix up (I looked it up before proceeding because I knew he was pissed before he left and didn't trust him) and I know have a brand new capacitor and working AC for only $25! I get that there's usually an up charge for a company coming out, giving a professional opinion, and then doing the labor...but an extra $245?!? That's just not good business if you ask me! Not to mention I called another company to ask what they would have charged and they told me to replace a capacitor it's $114 still pricey but a lot less than the other company if it's something you can't do yourself. I will not be using this company again and I very strongly recommend you don't either! read more
