I was so pleasantly surprised by his hotel. I was not expecting much other than a clean safe place, and while I did get that, I also got so much more. Everything looks newly refurbished, the lobby is large and nicely appointed. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was stellar for a free breakfast with plenty of options, and the staff working there was always on top of picking up and refilling things. Even the house keeper stopped us at one point to check if the room was up to our standards and let us know she was available if we needed anything. I will absolutely stay here again if I am in the area. read more

What a great hotel! The staff was super kind and helpful from the moment we checked in. Our room was spacious and spotless clean! The bathroom wasquite spacious (it's pretty large for being called 'Micro') and the water was hot, pressure was great and loads of fresh towels and quality soaps and shampoo. The had a fully equipped workout room with a bench, dumbells, treadmill and a bike as well as a bathwater warm pool that was just cleaned and swept. The location is right of the main road and there is pleanty of convenient shopping in the area. I loved my stay here and I will certainly be back!! read more

Nice place and comfortable, spacious room. Quiet and dark room. Good water pressure. Lovely real breakfast which lots of choices, including real sausage with flavor. Definitely would stay here again....and, it's been hotel of the year twice! (5 stars) We decided to come back and stay a second night, but this time our room was on the first floor. At 6:45 we could hear the folks above us as well as on the other side. It's not so quiet, yet still dark. (4 stars) And, this time the front desk staff was totally clueless about how to print a document which I needed for my meeting this morning. One staff member said I don't know anything about how to print your email and finally the other staff finally figured out how to get it printed from my USB key. Could not have been happier. From the price and location of the hotel. The cleanliness, the breakfast, everything was great. However, most importantly was the staff. I would love to give each and every one of them 10 stars. This was the best hotel staff I have ever dealt with. I've tried to be patient with this venue--have stayed many times on trips up and down the east coast to visit family, and there has literally been something that hasn't worked in the room each time! No iron once, no water pressure, slow drain multiple times, no remote last time and tv just abruptly shut off, temp control wonky, cracks, stains in various spots all over, you name it--there's always something! The coffee is abysmal and the breakfast fare *well, irrelevant^ but the coffee is the deal breaker, the only decent coffee shop in Carlisle is Denim and their coffee is not much better. Suggestion: maybe put a real coffee maker in the room so guests can buy coffee and filters on the outside and make their own decent coffee in the room. These single cup and keurig deals are ridiculous--and more expensive than just having a basic 4 cup coffee maker from walmart in the room. The tipping point on the last trip though was a front desk agent's behavior when i challenged the hotel policy of making a paper copy of the guest driver license with all our personal address and identity info on it! This last stay was the first time the policy was ever brought to my attention. In previous stays at no point was I told that the hotel needed to make a copy of my ID. It is one thing to scan this info in the computer system for the duration of the guest stay; making a paper copy that can be recopied or left anywhere for anyone to see is NOT acceptable and is not a legal security requirement at ANY hotel. The agent in my case was very condescending and when I pushed her to shred the copy in my presence, she threw the paper at me, saying "Here, rip it up yourself" and went into the back office in a huff. So unprofessional and completely unwarranted. I will not be a patron of this hotel ever again. read more

This hotel was THE BEST hotel I ever stayed in (and that is not hyperbole). The staff was friendly, helpful and kind. My family arrived in the middle of the night and Jo greeted us with a smile & a warm welcome. When my toddler got upset and another guest complained (I was mortified of course & told them I'd try my best to keep it down) Jo at the front desk was so sweet about it and said she understood how kids are. The breakfast is absolutely amazing. Full of an assorted of hot foods (scrambled eggs, oatmeal, breakfast potatoes, meat side, waffles, pancakes), cold foods (cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs- two kinds, pastries, fruit cups, etc), deluxe coffee machine (could make hot chocolate, lattes, cappuccino, etc) and any condiment you could imagine (Nutella, pb & j, guacamole, salsa, hot sauce, ketchup, mayochup, bbq sauce, honey, etc.) All the employees were eager to get you whatever you needed & assist you in any way possible. They all seemed friendly with each other and that they enjoyed their jobs. I wish I had written down everyone's name as they were all incredibly delightful. There is free food, candy, ice cream, coffee, snacks and an abundance of toiletries 24/7. Due to COVID there is not housekeeping daily but that didn't bother me at all. The location is great with lots of yummy restaurants and shopping options near by (be sure to check out downtown Carlisle). The only downside was the poor water pressure in the shower and the acoustics in the hallway. When people on the floor above us were walking it felt like elephants stomping. However those two things were not enough to knock off any stars as it was an absolutely perfect stay. Also, pillows and bed are very comfy. read more

This place went above and beyond to ensure cleanliness in this time of covid. The staff was all masked up and the environment was exceptionally clean. The breakfast was served with takeaway plates and cups and the towels in the room came sealed in a bag. I was in town last week on business with my husband and our three-year-old son. Having never stayed in Carlisle, I did a lot of research beforehand to determine the best place to stay. My priority in terms of a hotel is always cleanliness, followed by age (the newer, the better). Given the reviews that the Microtel already had, I felt fairly comfortable that the hotel would be up to my standards. However, I'd never stayed at a Microtel before, so I wasn't completely sold. I'm glad to say that I was correct. The rooms are very clean, as are the other parts of the hotel. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and very willing to accommodate guests' needs. Breakfast is included with the stay and it was great. Bonita, the kitchen manager, gets a special shout out because she was so kind and personable and because her food is AWESOME! She really went above and beyond. If you plan to stay in the area, I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

This Microtel gets five stars, not because it's the absolute best accommodations I've stayed in ... but because it is definitely the nicest budget hotel near a highway interchange in central Pennsylvania for under $75. The building is brand new, sparkling clean, all new appliances and linens, lovely staff, and free hot breakfast. I will definitely make it my go-to pit stop for PA road trips. It's slightly off the highway near Carlisle, not one of the big signs you see from the road, but it's worth the extra 5 minutes. read more

Heading south, our 8 hour mark was Carlisle PA. Did a quick web search for hotels and Microtel in Carlisle came up. We didn't know what to expect and we were very pleased when we pulled in. We did not have a reservation, but the guys at the desk, Dave and Luke were friendly and helpful. The price was great, the room was great, the place is fairly new. Complementary bottled water, ice cream, fruit, coffee, etc. Also nice breakfast options. The place is spotless! We will be making a reservation for the Microtel in Florence SC for out next stop. Pleasant surprise after a long travel day. We will be seeking the Microtel locations in our future travels. read more

Stayed here last minute one night on a cross-country drive during COVID and was so impressed by the precautions taken. All towels, amenities etc. were sanitized and sealed and provided upon check-in. They had a wonderful to-go breakfast setup in the AM as well. Each time I left the room I saw the staff cleaning areas which made it feel extra safe during the pandemic. read more

Extremely clean! That's the good. I don't like to overly criticize hotels now because they are all struggling. This place is mostly doing a superb job and my criticisms aren't the fault of the management or staff. The rooms are not insulated well for sound. Even though the place was mostly empty there was a guest in the room right above me. It sounded like a child running around and boom boom boom. It didn't really matter much except for the 5:30AM run. Buuuut.... I was already awake because someone was carrying on a conversation right outside my door ! There are a lot of working people staying here right now. They had on the reflective vests. Don't know if they were working on the hotel or elsewhere but they were very noisy at inappropriate times. I think next time I might ask for a room above the ground floor. The breakfast was AMAZING. All packaged up and ready to take back to your room. They had a full breakfast available, not just breads and the omelet/bacon/fries I had were fresh and hot! I might choose this place again just based on cleanliness and the breakfast. read more

The cost was very reasonable and the place was extremely new and clean. It is in a very convenient location for both visiting downtown Carlisle and the surrounding area. Our room had a fridge, extra sink and microwave with cabinets and a spacious work desk with two chairs. If you are travelling for business, this should be a great option for you. I have two minor complaints. The breakfast was pretty bad compared to other hotels that I have visited in recent years. It was available from 6-930 and when we arrived downstairs around 8am the food was ice cold. There was no bacon or sausage and what was there was greasy and unappetizing. Also, when we went back to our room after breakfast our room keys had been deactivated. We saw this happen to someone else as well. Minor annoyance, since we had to go back down to the desk for new keys. Overall, it was decent and I would stay here again. read more
