Took it back to LD for a refund which they completely understood (kudos to LD). The clerk there mentioned Kingsway Computers at Old Orchard Mall & see if they can help. Went to Kingsway Computers & the gentleman there fortunately had one (used) but he plugged it in to my laptop. Voila! It worked! Cost me $40 but I'm happy! While there, I mentioned I also had an older Dell laptop & whether it was worth upgrading RAM. He told me no but if I needed a new battery, he would check it out. He told me my hard drive has a problem and it takes about a day to be fixed. He fixed my hard drive for $140 and it looked as a brand new laptop. I went back for a pick up and asked to lower the price at $120. He said I can pay $120 by cash and offered me a new laptop charger. Fast and efficient service.

When I called to see what could be done, I experienced gaslighting and argumentative behaviour. Sadly this was not a unique experience. I recently called the same LD for support. I had to talk to four different people and when I finally spoke to a manager, he was confrontational and rude. He lectured me because I interrupted him and then he did the same thing a few minutes later. I had bought a digital photo frame that was poorly designed and wouldn't hold the micro sd card. Because I had bought it more than a month ago, they offered me 60 cents on the dollar for the refund even though I was intending to upgrade significantly to a photo frame that was more than twice the value of the one I bought. LD used to be such a good store. I'd say it has gone to the dogs, but that would unfair to dogs.

I stopped in here to ask about a few different items I was looking for (tablet case, and a couple…read moreof different cables). The store clerk didn't seem to understand what I was asking for; he kept showing me a wrong cable and insisting that it was the right one (it wasn't -- he doesn't seem to understand the difference between a female USB and a male USB, which is not rocket science, and he also didn't understand the difference between a data transfer cable and OTG). It took me five times explaining to him before he actually listened instead of just patronizing me as if I didn't know what I was asking for. I would not come here again unless 1) I wanted someone to talk to me like I was a toddler or 2) I want to talk to someone who ignores all the words coming out of my mouth and just waits his turn to reiterate the same thing based on the first three words I say. I also would never trust a repair job of any technology I cared about to these people -- based on what I observed of their lack of basic expertise and talk-down-to-you bedside manner, Pacific Repair is an excellent candidate for doing 'half-ass repairs because we think you don't have the expertise to know better'.
