Some newer items like old school style maki rolls...not the overly sauced and smothered in crunchy distractions like deep fried scallions or crunchy garlic...but the type of rolls I grew up with. With these sushi rolls comes a couple packages of Japanese wasabi that actually real wasabi root in it. That really took me by surprise. Also included are Yamasa shoyu packs as well as some small packs of ginger also from Japan. The rolls are cut into 8 pieces and run $13 ish. A great deal. The other new-ish thing they have is a pack of marbled blue and monterey cheese slices. It looked super interesting so I picked one up...that sh*t is delicious. I'm gonna have to pick up more and put it in the freezer since like most things at Costco, it will inevitably disappear from the shelves. And speaking of things that disappear never to be seen again is the garlic spread Toom. That was super garlic forward with a hint of lemon juice. It was sold as a dip but I used it in so many sauces. I'm sad to see it missing from the shelves.

But really, we all love this place despite this, and the workers are super efficient about trying to get us out as fast as possible which is really nice. Their poke has new items now which is really cool. Salmon mango ceviche sounds awesome and not sure how au poke tastes but would love to try them in the future. Finally got to try their Hazelnut beignets and they were fun sized, delicious to boot. I come here almost weekly and probably will continue to do so in the future. The only thing to add is that there never seems to be enough parking but not sure what they can do to add more.

Over 30 years in business!…read more I searched Yelp for jewelry boxes and this business popped up in my inquiry. I'm so happy when I called Island Marketing (IM) and it was open today and allows walk ins. There is a parking lot right in front of its business. Easy access and as you enter IM, there is a compact front showcase section that shows much of what IM carries for wholesale and retail. So many choices here! I met Eric, one of the two owners, who work tirelessly here. It's amazing how much inventory is carried in this business. You may browse around at the variety of boxes, gift bags, baking supplies, ribbons, business stickers and so much more here! Please enjoy the pictures to have a better idea of what is offered here. Prices appear reasonable, with bulk and wholesale discounts available. Support local

Last Christmas I used all of my supply of cellophane bags that I used to bag the cookies in. The supplier I used to buy my bags no longer exist. Boo hoo. As you can see, I was in desperate need of finding another supplier. One day when I was checking out my friend Nadine's activity I came across...ISLANDS MARKETING. When I read her review, it was exactly what I was looking for. Yay, I was so happy to hear about this supplier. Finally, I had a day off during the week so I took a ride to Kalihi to check them out. I was blown away the moment I stepped foot into the tiny storefront.! I am a sucker for gift bags, cellophane bags, cute food boxes, containers and packaging supplies. This is the place to come. The prices are reasonable too! Eric the owner was very friendly and helpful. He showed me different types of cellophane bags for my cookies. He recommended that I buy the lip and tape bags to keep my cookies fresh longer. I bought a pack of 100 lip and tape bags as well as other cellophane bags for other purposes. I will definitely be back for more! If you are looking for packaging supplies that are cute and purposeful, come check out ISLANDS MARKETING in Kalihi. You'll thank me for that!

Yarn lei supplies in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. When my mom calls me, I worry. She hardly ever calls - and when she leaves a message to call her back, I'm ready for the worst.... I called her back as soon as I psyched myself up. Mom had a nervous laugh in her voice, so I braced myself even more... She explained that she and her classmates wanted to do something for the 88 graduates of their high school, Sacred Hearts Academy. They didn't want to give a perishable flower lei, so they thought that a yarn lei would be appropriate. What does that have to do with me? I attended Maryknoll School. Hah! Mom knows that I know how to make a yarn lei - and quite efficiently. I had made 100 lei for my nephew's graduation, so, what's 88 more? Mom also knows that I know where to get supplies at a reasonable price. She suggested that I call Max Imports and see if they're open. It's not easy saying "no" to mom. Thinking about all the sacrifices she made for me over the decades... well... you know... So, of course, mom was right. Max Imports was open. The phone was answered right away and the nice lady on the phone helped me so much. I told her that I needed to make 88 lei. She asked what school and figured out the colors: Yellow grosgrain ribbon - 3 spools White long eyelash yarn - 9 packages Yellow short eyelash yarn - 9 packages Total = $485.34, including tax I told the kind lady that I could be there in about an hour after getting cash from the bank - no problem. That was enough time for her to pull the items from the shelves. When I got to Max Imports in Kalihi, there was metered street parking and a free parking lot next to the warehouse. I went up to the table like she described and rang the "Apple Bell". She appeared quickly and I gave her the cash. She went back inside to get a receipt for me. I found out that her name was Alice. I had seen her before at the Douglas Trade Shows at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center. I had bought yarn and ribbon from them several times in the past. I had even come to this shop to get supplies. Alice was so knowledgeable and pleasant. She even helped me carry a box to my car! As we walked, I thanked her because I know that the prices at Walmart and Longs are higher. She added that those retailers wouldn't have the quantity I needed. She's right! So - if you need to make many lei, come to Max Imports for the best prices and service! Good luck!

The space is kind of tight, but it's ok and parking is sometimes a little limited so plan ahead and visit the shop on days it isn't too busy. Esmerelda here is something special. Attentive without being in your face, helpful without making you feel like a burden -- just real, authentic people who take pride in what they do. You can tell they actually care about the people they serve, not just the transaction. That means everything to us locals, and it'll mean everything to you too. Whether you're a first-timer or a regular, they treat you the same -- like ohana. No pretense, no attitude. Just good people doing good work with a smile. This is an interesting store that has takeout containers, disposable utensils, dressings, jams, canned corned beef, salsa, cleaning products, etc. I paid attention to the "Hot Sale" signs for the best prices and great deals. I found sleeves of cups that my mom likes to use to serve certain desserts. It's challenging to find these disposable cups! I had looked everywhere for them! Now, I find them for $3 ... wow! I think I need to return! I saw packs of plastic spoons for $2. Maybe I should get them for the next family party... Tip: use cash to avoid the 2.5% credit card fee. Also: They asked for a name for the sale... for their records

The need to support local for various packing items KYD, Inc is an awesome place that does provide materials not just to the retail industry but for the general public as well. Nadine C suggested to check this place out which I'm so happy I did though the location is in the Lagoon Drive area which we all know the parking situation is tough though they do have a few stalls right in front of the biz many do drive by and double park behind you so if you find a street parking it's totally suggested the best way to avoid getting blocked. The door is to the left of the building and is actually the Will Call area though they do have a lot of shelves to display their inventory which does include cleaning chemicals, food containers, gloves and many items that you just don't see like foam trays. Their clearance section items starts from $0.50 with sale items from $1 finding items for your event doesn't have to be pricey. Thank you!
