Jessica and John at Kenai Peninsula Satellite provided me with Excellent customer service. And…read morethey are a local business. They go the extra mile to assist their customers. They answered all of my questions regarding special offers and their methods of DIRECTV service installation. They also patiently worked with me over 14-days to get me all of the best DIRECTV offers in my area - without a whopping $300 deposit (my credit check "cleared"). Josh did a super job of connecting my satellite and equipment. There is a long "back story." I was enticed by DIRECTV's national special offers and services for new subscribers. I signed-up for new service via their website, but then, I discovered that I had lots of questions about their pricing, service, and $300 deposit (because their credit check didn't "clear me"). They return the deposit at the rate of $5 per month; that locks you-in for 5-years! If you terminate service before 5-years, you lose the remainder of the deposit. And, you don't get their top-line equipment installed. I called the 800 number(s) about 3 times and discovered I was being "assisted" at DIRECTV national call centers in Ohio, Florida, and Minnesota! Each time, I had the pleasure of being put on hold, up to 40-min, "for the next available representative." On two occasions my call was terminated. I also found out that my satellite service installation would be managed by an outfit in Idaho! What did I do? I cancelled my application with DIRECTV ASAP for a full refund! Fortunately, I saw an ad by Kenai Peninsula Satellite for DIRECTV service and installation. Really Good Local DIRECTV service is the ONLY way to go. Go with Kenai Peninsula Satellite!

Starlink, here we come!!…read more If I could give GCI zero stars, I would. We are currently on day 5 of a total neighborhood outage while being told there is no outage, and the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. And calling support to Mehico does not help since they cannot be understood. Christian Stewart and Ross Reed are impotent and seem to do nothing more that show up and collect a check by filling out forms and fulfilling a corporate roll. This isn't just a "glitch." In the last week alone, we have had a technician out to our house three times. Each time, they show up, look at the same lines, and leave us in exactly the same position: offline. It is clear that GCI's infrastructure is failing, and their support team is either unequipped or uninterested in actually solving the problem. What makes it truly insulting is the billing. GCI expects full payment for a service they aren't providing. I am tired of having to spend my time filing FCC complaints just to get a pro-rated refund for the weeks of service I've lost. You shouldn't have to involve federal regulators just to get an ISP to be honest about their own outages. We are officially done. We are moving our home internet to Starlink and switching our mobile lines to Patriot Mobile. We've realized that paying for "local" service with GCI means paying for a connection that doesn't work and support that doesn't care. To anyone considering GCI: Unless you enjoy troubleshooting for hours on end and begging for refunds for service you never received, look elsewhere.
