I arrived here from a nightmare of epic proportions. Not only had I lost a body part but my…read moreprevious turfing had landed me in a horrific hellhole of no meds and limited care. I was in quite a state. I have never been so warmly embraced and well cared for by any other medical facility. These people are fabulous. They were totally prepared for me and made sure to double check immediately upon my arrival if there was more that they could do. The facility is homey, comfortable and well maintained. The room felt like a hotel room, complete with comfy recliner. The food was actually really good and they gave you plenty of choice while following your exact dietary needs. if you didn't like something (which only happened once) they immediately replaced it. If you had a care session or hospital stay and you missed a meal, they would stop in to get you something immediately upon your return. Your family is welcome, all members. They have visiting pets and activities when you are bored. They hold care conferences to keep everyone on the same page and abreast of progress. Everything is taken care of, including follow up visits to the hospital. A free round trip to and from so noone had to miss work for my doc appointments. My family could rest easy, knowing I was in good hands being taken complete care of. Everything is seamless and awesome. The staff here is so incredibly awesome. Warm, funny and knowledgable. They did better with my wound care than they did at U of M. Nurses chat and really care how you are feeling. You really feel loved. They work incredibly hard and as a team. I did not get the petty attitudes I sometimes encountered at the hospital towards coworkers. They seem to really support each other. The techs and patient care assistances were awesome. All 24 hours had great people. You knew whoever came to your room would work out just fine. I had both occupational and physical therapy here. The team was great. I appreciated that they kept me with the same awesome twosome through my stay. I have never had enjoyable therapy before but I looked forward to my daily sessions here. Such great therapists! They got me off the oxygen and walking normally. Due to the nature of my injury they would often come to my room to treat me as my wound made modestly getting around quite difficult. I loved the therapy gym though when I was finally ready to use it. They had everything. I was sad to leave. One of my therapists was overdue with her baby. I never did find out if she had a girl or another boy. My fave nurse Kenya (it is a hard choice as I loved them all) even gave me her number to stay in touch. Everyone made sure to stop in and say farewell. It felt like I was leaving family. If you ever have someone in need of skilled nursing and/or rehab in the greater Ann Arbor area, pick here. I would never go anywhere else. I can't say enough wonderful things about it here.

To give you my point of view, I work in administration at a similar type of care facility. I'm not…read moretaking away from what others have experienced, I can only say that our experience was much different. When I first walked in, the facility was clean and organized. While that doesn't always indicate the quality of care, it is a good first sign. The front desk was careful about making sure visitors checked in. I appreciate that they are keeping an eye out. There was complimentary coffee in the lobby and a cafeteria in the basement. When you are visiting, it is nice to have these service on site. My father was here due to a stroke and was not always the easiest person to have as a resident. The RNs and PTs were universally good in addressing my father's pain and rehab needs. I have to particularly complement the PT in encouraging my father to take part in physical therapy. Most of the CNAs were good with repositioning my father but there were a few who did not show enough caution when repositioning his leg where a part the ankle bone had been removed because of an infection. Any movement of the leg was painful and any sudden move was excruciatingly painful. No one wants to be in a facility like this. If any of my relatives were to need this type of assistance again, I'd be comfortable with having them stay here.

Jasmine in the kitchen is extremely rude to my mother on a near daily basis regarding her special…read moremeal requests. She also does not wear clothing appropriate for work and serves unsafe food. I will be removing my mother from this facility asap and ensuring the health department pays a visit. Send your family here to die in disgust and food-poisoning along-side the miserable employees.

Heartland Health Care Center-Ann Arbor When my husband…read moreneeded a rehab center, we choose Heartland because I was there twice before and was pleased with the services and the staff. Upbeat PT and OT staffers were essential in helping us recover strength and mobility. "Cat" the OT is exceptional. Always optimistic and encouraging she helped us during our stays. On Halloween, many staff members dressed up and that was fun for us patients. During my second stay, I needed the help of the Speech staff and they were outstanding. The food was fine, and there were always many choices. The grounds are attractive, and since the building is one story, these are many pleasant views. Part of my PT was walking outdoors, and I really enjoyed that. Heartland has a variety of group activities, listed on the calendar and posted by the club room. A nice plus, is that pets are allowed. Out of all the places I've seen visiting my aunt, this one is.....pretty awful. Super short staffed. 2 workers and 1 supervisor for the entire area. During business hours they tend do have enough hands on deck but in the evenings and weekends there is a dangerous level of inattention that goes down. My father needed help with his medications, he was too weak to go to the doctors office on his own…read moreand I couldn't get the time off work to take him myself. I found Magnum online, these guys got a Dr to do a house visit that afternoon, thank God because he was on blood thinning medication, they set him up on a lower dose of warfarin, got a nurse to come visit him twice a week to make sure he was reacting ok to the med dosage and also got a physical therapist to come to his house twice a week! He is doing 100% better now, able to leave his house when he wants and seems a lot healthier after the medication change. The physical therapist helped him to be able to exercise on his own and strengthen himself to be able to do household chores and his hobbies, I can't thank you guys enough, he really feels independent and happy again! Thanks guys!!!
