Got great highlights here at the end of the summer. I can't remember my stylists name (top left in the black and white photo though!), but she was great. She gave me great advice on what to do highlights and cut wise, and I ended up with some of the best and quickest highlights I've ever had! She's a definite 5 star. However, the salon definitely does not have a professional vibe. The other girls who were working were talking about inappropriate topics and generally being far too casual, to the point where I almost felt intrusive for being there. read more

Do NOT go here. The prices here are out of control. I live in New York and am used to seeing incredibly high salon prices, but they wanted to charge me over $600 for balayage. Never in my life have I spent more than $250-300 at the MAXIMUM for balayage, even in New York. I asked to price out a full head of highlights instead, and they said it would be $450+. They're trying to charge an extra $100 for a trim and blow dry. It's unbelievably outrageous. 1 star for them sharing the prices before they actually did my hair so I still had time to walk out. read more

Ashley - my lashes are absolutely beautiful! As a summer resident of the shore, came to Ashley to maintain my lashes and she has definitely given me the service and look I want! It's so nice to be able to have someone as professional as Ashley here at the beach so I don't have to run home every two weeks! Great presence and listens well to direction! DO NOT COME HERE! was quoted for just a gel polish $38 and was charged $58! Nails are not even the same shape. There is polish on my skin at the top of my nail and not totally covered with polish. What a waste of time and money and I'm left to have to redo my nails. read more

I had a hair appointment for 10:45 today May 1st. I made it on 3/27/21. I was told by the two people sitting at the hostess desk that my appointment was April 1st. I would never have made it april 1st. I work full time. They did not apologize or even act like it was their error, which it clearly was. If they had called me on april 1st to ask where I was, I could have straightened it out. I will never go there again. Horrible customer service. They should have apologized and given me a discount on the next available appointment. Horrible. read more

Great service! All employees I've talked to are very kind and when I came back they remembered everything we talked about! The only thing I would say is insanity it that I think they used brushes filled with previous hair..The products are also pretty expensive. I got along with my balayage which is was around $350, a leave in conditioner along with shampoo and conditioner-- which after the price was almost 600. The result was pretty nice. I would not recommend this salon. I am a resident of the island since June and was looking for a salon for lash extensions and hair cut/color. My review is based on the months that I frequented the salon. My first impression was not very high, however, I wanted to give them a chance. First, very overpriced for their services. Lash extensions are $20 higher than the area. The average prices in the area are $70-75, they charge $90 for every two weeks. The last time I had my lashes done (I did have shedding and growth) but I was charged $175!!! Without being informed that the charge will be grossly inflated... needless to say, I expressed my shock... but "A" did not seem to care. However, that day "A" lost me as a steady 2-week client ($90 every two weeks + tip). The salon prices are no better.... Cut/color touch up, blow out.... $ 200 ! Plus they do not use quality color products/hair products. Not impressed... so because of the price gauging and taking advantage of customers, I have found a better salon .... Cheaper and higher quality. No value for the steady customer base... looking for the Avalon vacationers for revenue read more

I walked into Michele's and was greeted by the lovely girls at the desk! The salon is inviting, the stylists are so knowledgeable and the prices are comparable to the area! Just a heads up to others who are vulnerable or who live/care for vulnerable people. If you need to visit a vaccinated stylist, this isn't the place. I am glad that I called back to ask: this is a policy made by the owner, so you might want to consider when deciding where to spend your money. It would be far more professional if the salon let people know in advance when booking. It would also smart marketing, as this experience has left me recommending Fusion in Avalon. read more

I got married in Avalon in the fall of 2007, and wanted to have my hair and makeup done, as most brides do. Michelle's faxed me a price list and "bridal" hair and makeup was more expensive than non-bride hair and makeup, which proves my point that if you add BRIDE to the beginning of anything, some places feel that is reason enough to jack up the prices. I explained to them that I was getting married on the beach, very casual wedding, and don't wear any makeup normally......but was swayed into a mandatory "trial run" that set me back $60 bucks, plus tip. Well, that may have been the best $60 I ever spent, as it convinced me Michelle's wasn't the place for my wedding day. I told them I wanted my hair and makeup to look natural and I ended up being painted up like I was heading to AC to be a lady of the night. Needless to say, I cancelled my appointment on my wedding day and found someone else (who LISTENED to what I wanted and ended up making me look fab). Long story short- skip this place. read more

I took one star off for pretentiousness and one star off for price, although that may fall under the same category. I've gone here a few times and each time I had Michelle. She's more expensive than some of the other girls, but she really knows what she's doing. She gave me a good cut and nice color, but wasn't really interested in what I wanted and each time she did it she was training someone else while working on my head. She really didn't give me the time of day. A lot of the other girls in there seemed very snobby and were busy the whole time talking about their coworkers behind their backs. I get nice haircuts and nice color, but I usually can't wait to get out of there! read more

Had the miracle manicure. It was amazing. The technician (I'm sorry I forget her name) was friendly and did an incredible job. My nails look great and my skin feels amazing. Plus, I appreciated that they were able to fit in me and my sister at the same time on short notice. read more

I got the body contouring treatment done today and it was AMAZING. my technician (so sorry I forgot her name) was absolutely fantastic and made me feel super comfortable. she expertly explained what she was going to be doing and made sure I was okay along the way. it definitely makes you sweat, but the treatment was so relaxing and I felt great and refreshed after! Michelle's is always more expensive than any other salon in the area. And the service and expertise is really not any better. They are at least ten dollars more for a blowout than any other salon. When calling they can hardly answer questions. It seems they waver so they can get you in the door. I've tried them several times to give them the benefit of the doubt but I am always disappointed. My daughter, who works in New York, had her hair highlighted for a wedding at the beach. One week later, her roots were showing like it was highlighted a month ago. I called and told them about how her dark roots were showing, and they told me she had to come in. I explained that she was back in New york and I had a picture on my phone she sent to show them. They would not let me send the picture to them. I have been a summer customer for 14 years, and they would not do anything at all!! Never will I give them our business again! My step-daughter and I went to Michele's this past Monday afternoon to have our hair-styled before a family portrait on the beach. When I made the appointment, I specified that I wanted a blow-out for both of us and a "braid" for my 11 year-old daughter. My styling went fine; however, after the stylist was finished she said "oh, we probably should have not washed your hair first, it would have held much better" - okay, well too late now. Moving on to my daughter - the stylist asked what I wanted, I explained a nice smooth blow-out and a french braid in the front to keep her hair from blowing in her eyes on the beach. "A braid, really? I don't do braids". As a matter of fact, not only did she not do braids, but none of the other stylists in the shop could braid hair either. Two of them tried unsuccessfully, even after I demonstrated the braiding. After much time had passed trying, and many products applied to my daughter's hair, I said "well, what can you do"? They decided to curl her hair with a large bore curling iron - again unsuccessfully. They blamed it on the condition of my daughter's hair, apparently "too soft" from "over-washing". Needless to say, we left with her hair looking rather greasy from the products they used. Thankfully, someone in the shop contacted Michele and we were not charged for my daughter's services and I was given 20% off my style. I appreciate the service recovery attempt, but this gesture did not help me to fix her hair for our portrait or feel relaxed during my visit to Michele's at all. I was truly disappointed with the professionalism and styling ability of this "Full Service Salon". I would not return. read more

I started going to Michele's about eight years ago. Ashley has been doing my hair since then. I trust her completely! Ashley and the entire staff are always welcoming and friendly. A lot of the time when I am there I recognize the faces of the other customers which speaks for itself. I recently had an appointment and it happened to snow that day. The salon decided to close. Ashley called me that morning to let me know she would be opening the salon for me and another customer in the afternoon after the roads had been cleared. I really appreciated the extra effort. Michele's Spa is the worst salon that I have ever experienced. The stylists are rude and the girl at the counter is socially awkward. I was charged $80.00 for 2 children's hair cuts. SAVE YOUR $$$$ and go elsewhere. read more
