They speak of him with the highest respect. I agree completely, as a patient. He literally saved my foot, which was severely infected. He did so by immediately sending me to the ER, where he performed the procedure himself. His follow-up has been thorough in every detail. In a word, amazing. I see in some reviews that some complain about his "bedside manner." They're simply wrong. He connects with his patients, telling them every detail and why he took a particular action, teaching us each about what we need to do moving forward. I can only think those complaining have never known a New Yorker before, whereas I spent years working with NY aircraft engineers. He's a lot like them. Professional to the core. Highly recommend him.

Dr. G assessed the situation, trimmed the nail and gave me antibiotics to clear any infection. We had a very nice conversation while he was working his magic. His office went above and beyond for me and I am forever appreciative. Dr Calderone in the entire staff have done an excellent job. In fact, he was so good that when I had to have my left hip replaced I went back to him. We have had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Calderone's office in Camarillo…read more Dr. Calderone himself may be a perfectly capable orthopedic doctor, but unfortunately, the overall experience with his office has made us decide not to return. The biggest issue is the staff. Whenever we need paperwork, medical records, a referral, or really any type of request, we are made to feel as though we are bothering them. There seems to be very little urgency or concern, and it routinely takes days just to get a response. The office experience isn't much better. Every time we have had an appointment, we have waited at least an hour in a small, uncomfortable waiting room with the television blasting soap operas or other programming at a volume that makes an already unpleasant wait even worse. Even more surprising for an orthopedic practice, the restroom is not conveniently located inside the office. Patients have to go out the door and down an outdoor hallway to use it. Many of the people coming to an orthopedist are dealing with broken bones, serious injuries, pain, walkers, crutches, or limited mobility. You would expect an orthopedic office to be designed with those patients in mind. Our biggest concern, though, is simply the overall lack of care and compassion we have felt from the office staff. When people are dealing with injuries and pain, a little kindness, responsiveness, and understanding go a long way. Dr. Calderone may be a good doctor, but in our experience, he needs a more caring and responsive staff and an office environment that better accommodates orthopedic patients. Unfortunately, based on our experiences, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this office.

They just wanted me to come in and pay for the orthotics in full. I was not treated as a patient at Coastal Foot and Ankle, but as a customer. Perhaps this is common, but it doesn't need to be. Excellent old school doctor ! He's got really cool old…read moreschool, cast aluminum manual chairs and such in the exam and treatment rooms. Some people, who aren't product designers or afficionados of excellent design only see them as old equipment... Being an engineer and product designer, I see them more as the equivalent of Herman Miller office furniture that's been used everyday and lovingly cared for ! The GRACEFUL crank mechanisms and EASILY adjusted head and foot rests show the patina of daily careful use, but the cushions and contact surfaces are new and clean. A Steam Punk fan would LOVE some of his equipment, but it's all REAL and the pinnacle of GRACEFUL mechanical engineering. I'm 6'4" and 240# and his treatment chair moved me up and down with a simple and apparently easy crank of a handle ! That's amazing to me ! I have to investigate that mechanism next time ! His office building is also a study in old school efficiency ! It's one of those post war fast construction building kits that were once very common in California. It's very "green" in old school ways - extremely minimal materials used for esthetics, it's all just functional. Yes, the walls and doors are thin and do not fully block all sounds, but the do muffle normal conversation for privacy. His office is new and old school. It works extremely efficiently in my experience ! It's not ALL on computer, but the important things are. He even still has a TYPEWRITER to quickly fill out paper forms ! Amazing sense of what ACTUALLY WORKS. OK, the office really does need a fresh coat of paint on the walls and doors, but he's got TWO more degrees, UCLA, BA in BACTERIOLOGY-Medical, and another degree IN BIOLOGY, so I trust that the current old paint job has absolutely nothing threatening ! As a doctor - he's talented and very gracefully with his various scalpels and callus Grinders toenail clippers toenail grinders Etc. I'll bet he's an excellent podiatric surgeon. He's also very caring and is careful to recommend the proper things for a diabetic like me. He's also kind to keep me and my wife informed on ongoing care required. He's also excellent at giving referrals to other excellent doctors when required. Call his office, he often answers the phone if he's available. Seems like he'd be an excellent person to work for. (805) 648-4105 What could be better ? It's a little inconvenient that he doesn't have an in office X-Ray machine. But I think he rarely needs one, and prefers to have his patients visit a quick radiology department where the x-rays will be read by a Radiologist as well. Reading X-Rays is really a very specialized skill, and having a Radiologist interpret them is a great idea. Also, X-Ray machines are definitely newer IS better, and the newest are fantastic and fantastically expensive too ! I'm glad he doesn't need to have several more patients a day just to pay for a rarely used X-Ray machine !
