I waited all day for my online pickup order, only to have it canceled close to 7:00 p.m. with no email notification. When I went to the store, an older female employee was extremely rude, blamed "system issues," and did not apologize at all for wasting my time. I've been to this Michaels for a long time now. As much as it has been changed throughout the years I always enjoy the products they have. The worker who handled my mom's order failed to properly tie a $20 Happy Birthday balloon, and it flew away almost immediately. Mistakes happen, but what's unacceptable is the lack of response when I tried to reach out afterward. Very disappointed in how this was handled. read more

If it weren't for the fact that they had what I needed, I wouldn't have given 2 stars. The customer service could NOT have been worse, AND, it wasn't ONE but THREE employees who were CLEARLY doing ME a favor by their working there. All 3 seemed annoyed by my audacity as I interrupted their conversation to ask about a price (where one pointed somewhere to a side aisle to the "price check" machine). Then when I asked if they still have the "teacher discount" another commented "If you are signed up." When I asked what if it's expired or no longer active I was told "I don't know, then I can't help you." Their parents & management (which I should've asked for) should be embarrassed. read more

I like Michaels. But.. I never feel like I am getting the best prices. It's an easy store to get to and there is plenty of parking for this very large store. My focus here is always on frames. They have a good collection of frames but not a great collection. I never see a percentage discount. It's always buy one a get one for 50% off. The frames are expensive so I am forced into this multiple purchase scenario. They have a discount program but I have never seem to been able to get more than a $5.00 coupon. There are very few stores that even have an inventory like this so I feel that I become a captive audience. I like the fact that most Michael's stores are set up the same way so if you know one, you know them all. Now the good news. I am usually able to get a frame that matches what I am trying to display. I find that their limited staff is able to help me when I am shopping a specific style. For that reason they get four stars. read more

With Joann's being closed, it's nice to have somewhere to go for fabric but it's really frustrating that nothing is priced correctly! Picked up a bolt of fabric that the sticker was priced at $6.99 a yard placed on the shelf with a sticker priced at $3.99 a yard but when I questioned where I got the fabric cut about the price, I was told it was $4.99 a yard! read more

I was a little disappointed today. There was no line at the checkout, and I was in a bit of a hurry because I was late for lunch. The cashier seemed a little upset that I didn't want to use the self checkout. I have never used it at Michael's and didn't want to waste any time trying to figure it out. came here today as a frequent shopper at the oceanside Micheal's but i was in the area so i figured what could the difference be...? upon arrival i knew. there was not a single employee in sight to cut fabric. finally when i found once she had to google how big a yard was and proceeded to give me 6 feet of fabric for a 12 inch frame. what? i didn't wanna cause a fuss so i found another hidden worker to ask if i could get it cut in half to a yard. this other worker responded with extreme haste and refused to even hear me out. simple questions were responded to with an attitude. i asked her where pushpins were and she directed me to an isle with dinosaurs in it. i was confused. didn't get the pushpins. proceeded to checkout to be baffled by the $18 price of this fabric. i went to find an employee once again so i found a group and she was the one willing to respond. i asked her nicely again if it can be cut. she refused and told me it was non refundable. i hadn't purchased it yet. i asked her if she can just take it back and she was extremely rude. now i know just go to oceanside next time. read more

I absolutely do not recommend this. The service is not good, there was an employee just wandering around and bumping into stuff. There are was also a small kid who just appears out of nowhere every time I go, I went here twice and every time I go he is walking behind me. What I selected were a foam piece and some felt. The foam was 30 dollars for 4 strips that were not even huge, instead I went to Walmart and they had an amazing deal, 10 dollars for four large strips. Back to the felt, it was 3 dollars for each piece of felt, that is was too much. Do not recommend this, please go to another fabric shop. read more

I give "Michaels" three stars because it was so big, beautiful and clean, but if this review was based solely on service, it would get one star. I came her with a friend to pick up some things for a baby reveal party (why ask a guy to come is beyond my understanding). Parking was a breeze because the lot was huge. When you walk in "Michaels" it's huge, it's like the Costco of arts and craft. I loved all the isles of do it yourself projects. But like Home Depot your own your own when it comes to help. No one around to help you find yarn. I didn't spend much or spend a lot of time there. We just got the stuff and walked to the line. A line there was. It mainly was due to the fact they only had two cashiers. I line this long and all you got is two cashiers? I get it times are tough for big business, but come one just add two more cashiers for good customer service. I would have given them four stars for a express line. I would definitely come back here, I'm not saying everything was bad. I want to make a mural of the New York Giants! Guess where I'm buying the supplies? read more

Every time I visit this store, I cant help not to spend more time than what I planned to. Of course, spending more time means seeing, liking and buying more things than what I also plan(lol) . Glad that they offer lots of discounted items through out the store. For a crafty mind, discounts mean a lot. The purpose of the visit was to shop around for materials that we will be needing for sweet 16 table centerpieces. Got what we need to start the project. Cant pass the chance to get what's left on the counter - it's on it's last day for a 30% sale promotion. Definitely coming back for the rest of materials needed to complete the project. Made a quick stop here for the 70% off stuff for today only. This is your typical Michaels in the fact that all or most of the employees are at the front registers. I find that asking other customers where they found things is much easier than finding an employee. Most of the customers shopping there seem to know there way around, I guess you kind of need to since there is no employee assistance. This lack of employee stuff is all over the place retail wise so I am just complaining a bit because I am just not use to it yet. Soon we can probably walk into a store and ask Siri where to find something. The store is big, like most Michaels stores and retail wise it is merchandised like most Michaels stores. The trick here is to find the woman with the most stuff in her basket and she is the one that has the scoop on where everything is located. She is the Michaels aficionado. I did end up finding what I was looking for, and I did not need to use my coupon since everything was on sale. Parking here is shared with HomeDepot and Fairway market so either come early or late or you can forget getting a spot. read more

Went to return some canvas and there was a problem with their machine accepting it. Ok, no problem. The cashier went and asked her manager what to do and the manager basically ignored this poor girl and she was pretty rude to the girl and to me when she did finally answer. I ended up returning the item and getting my refund, but it was a lot more difficult then it should have been. read more

This is the store for all crafters and hobbyist. There are so many items to choose for your designs, parties , book scrapping, decorations, framing, jewelry design etc. I love coming here because of the huge selections and they always have in-store coupons to help lower your purchase total. You can get so caught up with your project because of the abundance of selections. So I would advise anyone to have tunnel vision when they walk in or you will end up buying the entire store. Unfortunately, the customer service just doesn't exist. It's hard to find a sales person to help you find what you need, which can become overwhelming with all of the items available. So if your unsure of what you need clear out your day because it might take time to find what you really need. read more

Called again asked to speak to manager claimed she was to busy to come to phone. Called again manager got on and was short, cut me off and is rude. Like the wide selection of products. That I can go and get what I need without waiting for shipping. Don't like: customer service is a hit and miss. More miss than hit. It's funny that they have a position for customer experience because in one hand I can count the times I have found somebody to help. Without fault, every single time I come here the line is at least 15 people deep with only two registers open. Doesn't matter if it's peak hours. To make matters worse there are a number of employees roaming around the store hardly doing anything, and giving an attitude when asked for help. From now on I will be going to AC Moore. It may be a bit more out of the way distance wise, but I've always been in and out of there in no time. Good riddance Michaels. read more

This store is like heaven to me. I love crafting! So many sales this week. Many items are 50% off. Plus they have a coupon for 50% off one regular priced item. I found packs of colored stock paper for $2.00 and a hole puncher 50% off. Great deals! This store in particular is always neat and organized. I have never been to this location when there wasn't a line. They have 5 registers open today so the wait wasn't long. I was able to get in and out during my hour lunch break. Don't forget your coupon! Every week Michael's has a 50% Off coupon in their circular in the local newspaper (Newsday). I love to just roam the aisles at Michaels; I get so many great ideas for projects. The store has an amazing selection of crafts. Let's see so far I've made soap, candles, stained glass, you name it. You can't help it, you just get sucked in. Oh yeah, what did I go there for again? Who knows, it's just fun to shop there. Now for the bad news, after you've filled your cart with all that good stuff, you have to wait, and wait, and wait, on an amazingly long line. The location is the absolute worst when it comes to checking out. Every customer stands on a single line. There are about a dozen cashier stations that the line feeds but usually on two cashiers. I get so frustrated every time I go there. C'mon guys, it's time for a new system here. read more

This store has an excellent selection of arts and crafts objects, and a quality framing operation. They would be a 4 or 5 star in our estimation except for one glaring issue. They seem to be completely comfortable with long lines to check out. This has happened every time we visited the store. This morning we had to wait for something like 15 minutes, while half of their registers were dark. read more

This Michaels is huge, and given the Christmas crush there are displays tumbling product spilling out from the shelves, into the aisles, and out the door. Not that big of a deal, as the staff are very helpful and seem to appear unbidden right behind you to ask if you need help, even being willing to take you outside into the howling wind to pick out something which happens to be stocked outside the front entrance. Checkout was speedy, and I took the short walk back to the abundant parking available directly in front of the store. Not a cross word about any part of the experience. read more

I like this place. Suburban super-shopping but for crafts. I worry about this place. Tucked away in the remote corner of the back of the back of the back of shopping plazas. Then again, there are all kinds of real estate developments around here now. And arts and crafts stores in Queens and Western Nassau are few and far between. Why to come here: -Someone you know is having a party and needs to make favors. -You're making a cake or want to get into cake decorating -You're looking to branch out into "making" anything of the craft kind. -You're a drag queen who accidentally got lost and found yourself in Nassau. And you need to concoct something with fabulously tacky fake birds before we put you on a train back to the city. - You're me, you have a coupon and you want to get some cheap canvas from the stores tiny "fine art" section in the back of the back of the back. - You've had a bad day and you think some stick-on rhinestones will make it better. Why not to come here: - Sometimes the checkout line here makes me want to die. Yes, it can be *that* long. Doesn't anybody understand I have an urgent creative emergency!?!?!?! - You don't feel like driving far from city limits to creep on the suburbanites and their massive mega-chains. Ran into here real quick for two things: restroom and shrinky dink. The restroom is disgusting as hell! Looks and smells as if it was never cleaned, garbage overflowing onto the floor, floor looks like it was never swept or mopped. The product I was looking for was very well hidden, the staff was no help and waved me in the direction of the item and when I did find it finally, it was ripped open as if someone else had found what they were looking for and took what they needed. This is one of the worst Michaels I have visited on a long time. They need to do better or close this location because it is a waste of time for consumers! read more

The people who work here are so aggressively terrible it makes me wonder what kind of hellscape Michael's corporate office is. The store did not have the order I placed online for pickup. They didn't know where it was, and didn't care. There was about 20 minutes of confusion and then they just threw their hands up. Then they were out of Christmas ribbon. Manager called me today to discuss a situation from last week & he admitted he doesn't have much budget to hire or give more hours. Wasn't very concerned about my complaint either. The place doesn't ever seem to be busy but there is always a line at the checkouts 5 or 6 deep with only 1 cashier. Love michaels and have shopped this location before but I have never seen a dirtier more poorly kept bathroom then this location. I tried to find a manager but they were so busy that I didn't say anything. They should be ashamed to have fresh toilet paper all over the floors and orange rings around their toilets etc, minor problem to some, but to the store it should matter. Gross. read more

First time in this store, 2/24/18 at about 1:30 PM. Big display of water fountains on sale 50% off and completely out of stock. Manager offered display fountain. No additional discount. Do not know how long the fountain has bee running. Can only assume it's been running non-stop for at least as long as the sale has been on, but probably longer. Should have given about 10-20% discount for the used item. Should at least take the display/sign down. Also, checkout line is out of control and there is one sales person on the floor. Bad management. Bad bad first experience in this location. read more

Came here with my girlfriend for her to get a couple things to decorate her graduation cap. She was adamant on getting a specific type of glitter paper ; the website said there were 8 sheets in stock in this particular store . We only needed one and there wasn't any out on the floor. While we searched all over the scrapbooking section for this one piece of black glitter paper, two employees stood there and stocked shelves, gossiping about other customers. Of course they didn't ask if we needed help, and we had to approach them. They were extremely unhelpful and we were disappointed that they wouldn't even check in the back. We decided to get something else instead. Once we got to the register, the coupon we tried to use wasn't working for some reason and we had to awkwardly wait forever for a manager to come and enter it manually.
