I love shopping at Michael's. I am a member of their rewards program and I get discount coupons often. I was looking for candles and I stopped here to check their prices. I have always been a fan of their vanilla candles...these are inexpensive (on a good day about $3-4 a jar)...so I got a few. They don't have many specialty or unique scents, as much as other stores like Bath and Body Works, so I got some traditional scented candles here and some of the more unique different scents there... This is a really nice store with much more then just crafts. The store is setup nice and is always really clean and organized. I love all their seasonal home decor and they even have a nice isle of baking pans, cookie sheets etc. Which I love :-) As far as crafting goes they have it all. Any d.i.y. project you want to do they have materials for it. Large selection of picture frames and lots of fake flowers to make arrangements or wreaths.. The only downside to Michael's is everything is so expensive. I mean, the quality is good but some stuff you can find at the dollar store that's pretty comparable. Overall though I do like shopping here and it's a fun place to look around. read more

I had a goal. Find frames for a neglected bunch of artwork that's been languishing for years in brown paper bags stashed in forgotten closet corners. I ventured into Michaels convinced that I would only spend a few minutes picking out the perfect mats and frames. Well into my 100th round through the frame aisles I was rescued by the effervescent Addison who, with his boundless energy and enthusiasm, became the ultimate accomplice in my quest. Hours later we added two more accomplices - another customer game to help out and an employee aptly named "Queen of Color". With the group's keen eye for color and design we navigated the maze of mats and frames until finally finding the perfect combinations. Slowest and sometimes the rudest cashiers ever. Worse than TJ Max or Marshall's. I don't mean to be rude but I just don't understand the correlation with these three places. It's like they all get trained at the same place. I wish the customer service was as great as most of the prices at this store. It's the only reason I come back. read more

Good store, good location and good prices. I have several large maps in my home office and Michael's was the only place I could find frames matching the size. Also, they had a 75% sale so I spent nowhere near as much as I anticipated. We buy some of our holiday decorations here and various other home crafts here and I'll buy my nephews some educational toys here. The staff here are friendly, very good and knowledgeable about what's what, and where it is in the store. Parking is ample as they share lots with other stores in Smithfield Crossing's. read more

Rude customer service today. I had a teacher validation and they kept saying it wasn't validated . Like I'm really in need of that $6 I was getting off my total... as soon as they were challenged they had a wicked attitude. It is not a big deal, the lady said as she tried to hand me the form to sign up again- I showed her the picture of the email confirmation and I said I don't need that and she said she was OK with it so I then replied "then if it's all good why do you keep talking", at that point there was a huff, a puff and a groan-then the two ladies started talking amongst each other as if I wasn't even there- will never come back to this location...peace. read more

Being a crafty lady , I need a crafty store and Michaels sure does it! This location is so convenient for me so I'm always here. I never have to worry about a parking spot and I know I can find whatever I need here and on the cheaper side. Every time I come to this location I am encouraged to use numerous coupons at once , I love this idea! I love the fact I can use numerous coupons EVERYTIME I go. I end up using 2 coupons each time , and if I only have 1 coupon on me the cashier offers me another one. The store is always Clean and easy to locate things and I love this idea because, since I'm always working on numerous projects findings things easy is always to my advantage so I can be in and out. I also love the fact there's always workers on the floor to help and assist me as well! You don't see this often at any stores. This store is also always very well stocked, so I can always find what I need and know this location will have it. No question is too stupid in this store , the employees make it easy for you to shop in this store for hours and not look at you funny , they're all also there to help you and not have a problem answering any questions. Oh Michaels. I have a love hate relationship with you. I love the time I can spend whittling away just looking at beads , scrapbook stickers , albums , paint, birdhouses..... My hate is mostly due to the fact that I can wander around for hours and forget that I have to go to work or eat lunch. Lol. I can spend a ridiculous amount of money in there so I try and limit my excursions. I usually buy scrapbook stickers and decor but also find great prices on frames and paints. For Christmas I like their wire racks up front that you can get some cute stocking stuffers for a buck or two. I also like the candy molds and baking things they sell. Oh and if you like " nostalgia " candy they have all different kinds up front. They have an app for your phone and you can almost always find a coupon usually for forty percent off. It's really a great store for whatever you need. My only reason for four stars and not five is that I don't find the staff very friendly. I was there for about forty five minutes and not once did anyone say hello to me not even the associate who was pricing in the same aisle I was in. It won't stop me from going there since I always find what I need but some people may be turned off from going there a second time if they do not get any assistance. read more

As a crafter, I've visited this Michael's location in Smithfield many a time over the years. For a short period, I feel like I was here at least twice a week. I've spent countless hours and countless dollars here. I like this Michael's store because it's usually always clean and is rarely packed with people. I don't like this Michael's because it can be hard to find associates on the floor if you need assistance and some of the isles in the home decor area of the store can be a bit cluttered. I've found that they usually always have everything I'm looking for in stock and it's bigger than more of the other Michael's stores I've been into. You also can't be the fact that there is always a coupon out there to use towards your purchase and most of the time it's for 40% off a regular priced item, or either a 15% or 25% off your entire purchase. read more

Great staff and management ! Always very helpful and kind. This store is always immaculate too. But the cash out line always TAKES TO LONG. It can be very frustrating when you run in for something quick and stand in a line 6-8 people deep with 2 cashiers. Also trying to find an employee for any questions at times can be difficult. Why I say state great staff and great management is due to fact is they truly care about their customers. They take time to help you with your project and offer suggestions. Even at the register the mention coupons and go over any questions without hesitation. I also am aware on how Corporate America works. The lack of staff I'm sure has NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. But I'm hoping that someone will see this and think about hiring a few other employees. read more

RUDE staff. I visited yesterday and while waiting in line to check out, one if the two cashiers left her post to come over and rearrange the line "ropes" because some customer had moved them not to her liking. She grumbled about it as if I'd moved them making me uncomfortable. And never returned to her station despite a line of people. Then the cashier that did ring me out was slow, and when I realized I had a gift card after she'd rung me up was very rude about taking it. Whatever happened to "the customer is always right?". Sheez. I will never return to this place and that's saying something since I have a gift card!!! read more

Michaels in general is a bunch of overpriced stuff. By the time you have spent hundreds of dollars on all the supplies, tools etc, you could have bought the item 5 times over for the same price. Their sales and coupons are extremely misleading and pretty much insulting. Gee, let's price a ready made fake wreath at $80 and then say it's on sale for 40% off. Can't use your coupon for 50% off since it's only good on full priced items. It's all designed to confuse the customer and ultimately to rip you off. The staff/cashiers somehow have to explain their store policies while keeping a straight face. I don't know if they are in on it or just as equally confused. What they want for s stupid picture frame is laughable. A pack of popsicles sticks is hilarious. You would be better off buying a box of popsicles and eating them all. read more

Staff are not knowledge about the products, cannot answer simple questions and are extremely rude. Asked two people about sewing items and one actually told me no one in the store had knowledge about that subject and that I should try Jo-Ann Fabrics. The people who work here are really great. If I'm checking out and not using a coupon that could save me money on my purchase, they pause to get a flyer and give it to me so I can get the discount. I've had a few things custom framed here and I love how they turned out and the person who helped me through the process was great. I recommend only doing that when it's 60% off. I couldn't believe how expensive custom framing is - and that's everywhere not just at Michael's. They did an awesome job though and I would definitely do it again if it was on sale. Well typing this makes me upset and even though talking to corporate and the manager I still feel as if my friends justice was not served. This store makes up there own "policies" to check people's 20's if they feel as if it is counterfeit so apparently if you give them 2 20's they will not check to see if it is a fake bill. But if you give them 5 20's from the same wallet they will check your money I see if it's real. My friend is a beautiful colored woman who felt embarrassed that the cashier walked over to the "machine" to check to see if the money was real,not explaining anything to us only saying "she has to check the money". No one else's money was check but my friend mind you. This is the most racial profiling I have ever seen. But apparently if the cashiers "feel as if the money is fake" they can check it with no explanation besides that "it is policy" WHICH COME TO FIND OUT it is not a real policy it is one that the store just made up. So disgusted by this store. read more
