I decided to pick ready made frames for 3 of my family's historical photos but wanted UV Protective glass. I went to the framing department and the most professional and caring man helped me. He said it would need to be cut to fit. I thought to myself, well, that's another trip from Taos to Santa Fe to pick up the glass. To my surprise he said he could cut the 3 pieces for me and and have them ready in less than 10 minutes! He suggested that I do my shopping and he would come and find me when he was done! He even packed them with bubble wrap to protect them on my drive home. Incredible service. I'm sorry I don't know his name but the framer name on the receipt is Candace J (he's obviously not Candace!). He had a beautiful tattoo on his forearm. Watch for him, he's awesome! read more

I went to Michael's in Santa Fe at about 7:45. I thought I would have enough time since the website said it is open until nine. We had to go in through the exit door. He cashier was sitting on the counter with her legs up and glared at me. When I got in the store another employee came and said they close in 8 minutes. I got my stuff and complained that the website said they close at nine. She smirked and started talking to the other employee in Spanish. Yes, I don't speak Spanish. The service at this store is horrible! I tried to check on my order and Iris hung up on me four times. The manager was rude and not helpful. Called customer care and they were just as awful. I suggest if you need any crafting items that you find another store. Worst store! read more

I'm not sure what it is, but craft stores always make me feel sleepy. Michaels is no exception. It's probably all the different crafts with their varied scents that have this effect. Something about an overload of lavender and being made to look for picture frames just takes the energy out of me. The store is nice, it is well organized and clean as well as full of crafty stuff. Such as: a ton of fake flowers, stickers, models, wedding decorations and the aforementioned picture frames. It's not a bad place it's just full of stuff that can make you sleepy. If you're into crafty stuff then there is no reason not for you to enjoy this place. But if you're like me and you get taken there by a significant other just make sure that you don't have to operate heavy machinery or something after that. read more

WARNING: Be very careful if you have any attachments to the framing! On 11-18-17 Scott (a former Michael's employee in Phoenix) and I brought in 2 posters to be framed plus the Artists Bio that was to be attached to the back of the signed Albuquerque Balloon Fest poster. May, (I think that's her name) was very helpful but when she saw the Bio sitting on the tissue paper that the poster had been wrapped in asked about the 8.5x11 Bio paper. I asked if it could be placed on the back of the poster. May promptly replied "no problem, I can do that"! On 12-1 When Scott and I returned to pick up the completed framing...WHOOPS...no Bio! Since I wanted to make sure I hadn't inadvertently left the Bio in the poster tube I told the rep that I would double check and she said she would check in the back and would call me back . No Bio left in the tube! I called the store and was told they would check and call me back. No call back then or ever after speaking with 2 mgrs after being told they would call me back! I did receive a phone message from May who apparently had forgotten our conversation on Nov 18th and who said I never brought the Bio in. Maybe the Bio was attached to the guy's poster who followed me in line who also was having a poster framed? Who knows? Anyway, I will try hard to get a replacement Bio for my collectible signed poster but will be left with some very bad feelings about Michael's poorly trained staff who not only lose important papers, also have memory lapses, and who's word means little. read more

I have been to Michael's for various things over the years but have only occasionally done framing there. NEVER AGAIN! Ordered 7/5 for estimated pickup 7/19. Wasn't ready Friday, 7/19 because THEY had misordered the parts. Framing manager said a rush had been put on the parts and it should be ready by the following Thursday, 7/25. Bad enough. It is now Friday, 8/2. I called and it STILL isn't ready and I now have to chase around the framing manager later today to find out why because their "store managers" know nothing and have no interest in helping. Go to a professional framer if you actually need it done right. read more

Great custom frame jobs twice. Each time staff very patient showing me options to save on cost. Both jobs ready quickly.

I live 90 minutes from Michaels in Santa Fe NM. A framing job they did for me needed a simple repair that could easily be done in less than an hour. I called and tried to make an appointment to get the repair done, to get them to block out one or two hours for me. They would not commit to doing the repair within two days. This would cause me to do two round trips, six hours of driving. After repeated polite efforts on my part to explain my issue, they seemed to not even hear, or not care about causing me that inconvenience. Both the framer and the manager kept repeating the same response. These big corporations have their people's hands tied so tight they can't even think for themselves, and their customer service suffers for it. read more

I need balloons for party fast, as I was waiting in one of the long lines a short woman with dark hair put up came behind the cashier's area where I was standing and began yelling at the casher, final comment was something to the effect of "I want to see you in my office." a few customers gave each other looks of disgust. How demeaning! Another customer was grumbling with another cashier at register #4, about the price of something saying "well you're wrong & I want to see a manager!" The tall cashier with braces told her quite nastily "I am the manager!" the customer looked embarrased and left the store. What kind of a place is this?? I got my balloons at Albertsons, I did not have to wait in a long line and found what I needed immediately. read more
