The racist workers called security on me and my friends out for allegedly "stealing." The security told us to leave before we get caught stealing. I have been a Member of World Market for 30 years. After today I will never go back to World Market in Santa Fe. They tried to sell me the same item for two different prices! I said they are the same item. The Manager was incredibly rude. She said you have to pay the different prices on the same basket. I have never experienced such a rude nasty Manager in my life. Then the Cashier starts yelling at me, insulting me and screaming about Jesus Christ! I reported them to the World Market Company. I'm so disgusted. I found everything from pesto sauce and pasta to a beautiful desk and leather chair at the World Market. The staff is really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, especially David and Greg. The very best, however, is Claudia, the manager. She is terrific! Not only did she seek out and find the desk we were looking for, she checked us out at the register and helped carry the chair and desk to our car! No wonder her staff is so good; they are following her example. Seriously folks: the store is packed with goodies from wine to cookies to plates to outdoor furniture, clothing, jewelry, pillows, wall decor and rugs! Whatever you need, look here first. I really, really love this location. I keep coming back because one, the items there are cool, but two, the employees are always so sweet. I usually love these World Market stores, so I went for Christmas shopping and bought a shimmer perfume spray, but when I got home the pump didn't work. Next day I returned to the store to swap it out for another bottle, but it turns out ALL of the perfume spray pumps on the floor were broken. I brought it up to the floor manager and he said "sorry about that," and walked away from me. Bad customer service and they are fine with selling broken/poorly made products. Very disappointed. Great store with fun items. BUT GUARD YOUR PURSE OR WALLET. THIS MALL IS CRAWLING WITH THIEVES and the store has little security so you get little help when you're robbed. My purse was stolen in under 5 seconds: when I reached up to grab an item off of a high shelf, someone snatched my purse in my shopping basket. Now I have days of replacing ID cards (voting, drivers, medical), credit cards, checkbook, auto-pay accounts, photos and iPod which cannot be replaced, and hope for humanity. I love this place. The new store is better organized and easier to find things than the old store. The aisles seem to be wider and easier to move through. There also seems to be a better assortment of items that are available including food items. The store employees are very kind and helpful and will stop to help you at the drop of a hat. I will continue coming to this store at least once a month if not more! read more

I was in this store yesterday when this happened: Im in line waiting to check out, there is only one checkout counter open. The woman in front of me is trying to use some discount but doesn't meet the minimum purchase threshold. So what does the checkout person do? She sends the woman back into to the depths of the store to find something. Not, "Heres these lovely point of sale chocolates." Straight-up,"Go back in the store and shop some more." Mid-transaction... no other registers open... no cancelling out the transaction while the lady shops... no offer to get another cashier double-quick. The checker unilaterally decided I had nothing better to do that day than wait, who knows how long, for this lady to peruse the wicker and the Marmite. I have no idea if this was racial, the checker and the customer were both white and I am a person of color, but it sure felt that way. So, unless you are an elderly white lady, expect to be treated like garbage here. read more

Check your receipts carefully before leaving this store people. Someone (perhaps the manager) is playing fast and loose with the pricing. Indeed, something strange is going on with this store at present. On a handful of occasions I have caught a higher price charged at checkout than what is clearly marked on the various items in the aisles. If this is not being done on purpose for some nefarious reason then at the very least this store needs to better sync the posted prices with those at the checkout register. My opinion is that this is indicative of slipshod lackadaisical management. Further, I have been charged more for wine that what was clearly the posted price. When I brought this to the store's attention I was told that I should have noticed the posted price was only effective when purchasing a group of bottles...not a single. This is yet another little gambit this store is playing on unsuspecting customers (with less than 20/20 vision). Yes, on close examination there it is in VERY small print below the posted price that more than one bottle needs to be purchased. The small lettering is posted in such fashion so as to be easily missed by the unsuspecting customer. I submit that at the very least this is pricing chicanery and perhaps even borderline fraud which needs to be brought to the attention of the authorities or the Better Business Bureau. Too bad, because the shopping experience in this store is pleasant. But as I said something strange is going on here. My caveat: check the darn receipt before walking away. read more
