It is very odd for me to lower a star rating for a business, but this Michaels location has really earned it. I don't know if it's management issues, staffing issues or just corporate forgot about this store, but it just keeps getting worse through the years. I come here at least once a month for either seasonal decor, or just paper goods that I need for my work, and checking out always takes forever. First of all, for some reason many of the items they have at store are always missing the barcode which requires for someone to search that item online to get the accurate SKU number which takes a good extra 15min from my check out experience. I don't understand why they keep placing items for sell that don't have a code or haven't been processed... who knows what the issue is. Besides that, their "new" self-checkout machines are HORRIBLE. They are super slow, break all the time, and most of the time I always have to call someone to come and help me because the machine can't find my item. What's the point of removing cashiers if we still need a human to process our payment? Just overall, the in-person shopping experience is horrible and I sure hope they fix all of this soon. read more

This is probably the worst location I've been to. There are rarely any sales associates to help on the floor and you have to wait for a long time for anyone to come. I have asked questions about the art supplies, about dos and don'ts and they don't know. The manager was dismissive when asked to get help. They don't have a lot of art supplies so you may have better luck elsewhere. read more

Forget customer service. I went to make a purchase, and was told I could not be assisted because I was paying with a card. It was their policy I had to use their self service. It's a Michales you get what you get. However they seem to highly ignore their curbside orders forcing you to go into the store. If that's what they want then fine but don't offer curbside if you're going to make it a bad experience and force your customers to go in. read more

I love Michael's for all my craft makings! Although I'm so discouraged with an associate that for the 3rd time in 1 week has no sense of character to smile, nor have the courtesy to welcome customer in and come back again. Then she was totally unhelpful when we have overheard customers asking her where they could find things she would just vaguely point to the other part of the store and say over there. Don't ever expect any kind of service here. The employees are nowhere to be found, so if you have a question, you're out of luck. I get skeptical of this place because they're always putting these coupons out in the newspaper that allow you to get a deep discount on one item. Maybe I'm just cheap, but I'm always waiting for one of those coupons before I buy anything there. The framing expense can be wildly expensive, especially if you let them tack on all kinds of additional options. Most of the stuff here is made in China, and great if you need some crafty kinds of stuff. Checking out can be a royal pain, because there's so few employees working behind the register, trying to track down the SKU of individual doll heads. It always takes forever to check out there. Set aside plenty of time for checkout. Gah. read more

I don't think I've ever seen more than two employees here, which should be illegal for a store this size and with this variety of products. They must have elves who set up all of the holiday décor and sample flower arrangements. But they do also have a ton of products. From scrapbooking to knitting to collaging furniture to miniature dollhouses to your high school daughter's side business making Homecoming mums, you can get all of your art supplies here. And then some. Store has expanded to also carry a lot of décor items (for those of us who lack the creative bones to use the products sold here to make anything at all), and the framing department is always running some sort of discount- but I don't think I've ever seen anyone in that department, employee or customer. read more

I like that Michaels always sends me coupons for 50% or 55% off. And the seasonal sales always get me. I am a sucker for craft and art supplies so it doesn't take much to win me over. The store is super clean and has its own very awesome Wifi so you can look up what you need for that project or price compare with Amazon. Sometimes the prices are so low I feel like I am robbing the store. Anything from seasons past will be a good deal. Selection here is pretty incredible but it is not as well stocked as Hobby Lobby. But what it lacks in supplies, it makes up for in organization. I can find anything and there are price check points every few aisles. Things are conveniently placed and it is not a hodgepodge of craft supplies spewing out from all corners. The clearance aisles can be a mess especially after Christmas but for a neat freak like me, I find that going early makes for a more relaxing shopping experience. One thing I do not like is the long checkout process. There are often only 1 or 2 cashiers working. Again, going early can prevent a long wait but be prepared to wait. If there is ever a lull in the lines, take advantage because it can easily be backed up within minutes. Overall, I love the cleanliness of this store and the often very kind employees. Price check is my best friend (seriously, all stores need to adopt this) and the seasonal sales deserve my entire paycheck. read more

As this is a chain store, not too much different product-wise from any other Michael's...but here's a few things: 1. If you're going to come here even just every once in a while, sign up for their coupon thing, basically every time you go you can get like 40%-50% at least one item or sometimes your entire purchase. 2. If you need anything framed, go see John in the back by the framing section. He is super helpful and has endless patience which I find helpful when trying to choose colors and frame options! Michael's even has this camera now where they can take a picture of your artwork/photo and show you what it would look like with different frames, matting, etc. Way cool. It seams every other week they have 60% off custom framing. Moral of the story, never buy anything here at full price. What has happened to customer service? I have been to this store several times over the last month, in search of parts for my sons Pinewood derby car. On every occasion that I have ventured in I wonder why I have come back to this horrible place. Trying to find someone to assist you is harder than getting a bill passed through congress. I have yet to find anyone willing to help me. After searching the store and finding the supplies I need I head for the checkout. Every visit is the same story long lines and employees who seem incapable of efficiency. A typical wait to checkout is more than 5 minutes. I just left from there and I'm not really happy. I came in earlier and there was a big long line with only two or or three people checking customers out. Needless to say I wasn't happy and left immediately. However, I thought that if I went back later that the line would be shorter and/or they would have more people to check customers out. Needless to say the line was even longer the second time. This is one of the few places near my area that I can get craft supplies for the kids so this was my only option and time was running short with all the errands that we had to do. I even asked the checkout person if it that was always like this and he said that it was. This Michaels was most notable for the friendliness/helpfulness of their staff. Everyone who has been to a Michaels, knows that it can be very daunting if you are trying to find one little thing and you are in a hurry. The shelves can often me mixed up, and they may categorize the one thing you need in the most unlikley place, at least in your mind. And ususally, in my experience, there is only one person in the store, and that's usually at check out, so you are on your own, unless they are about to stock shelves. Well, in my experience, I was running in to Michaels at 3pm on a saturday, in a rush to get cupcake liners and some ribbon... I was helped by not one, not two, but THREE different associates of Michaels who not only showed me where the restroom, ribbon, and cupcake places were, but walked me to the areas, showing the utmost patience and service. I was in and out with a 50% discount coupon in hand, and was one happy customer! read more

It has been for several years and the ONLY reason I come here is because it's conveniently located to home and work. Every time I need something and hunt someone down to ask they wont walk you to the place, they point and tell you an aisle. Swell! Also I've had several occasions where they need to check the prices, say I'm wrong then I physically have to walk to the spot and prove myself right. Anyway, I frequent hobby and arts and crafts stores and recently stopped in this one in search of a few items for a project I was making for some of my coworkers. The selection is sort of typical of every other Michaels, but what sets this one apart is the service. I'm sorry to report it was just awful. Asking for help here made me feel like I was interrupting the employees and they had no desire to help me find what I was looking to buy. It was really actually surprising how unhelpful they were. This wasn't my first visit, and others in the past have sort of gone the same way. As long as you know what you need and don't need help finding it, this is an okay source for arts and crafts supplies. It's a decent store, a bit small but I usually find what I need. The staff have mostly been friendly and helpful, all though I will say that some of them have stared at me as I walk around because I look a bit confused, but they have never offered help. Additionally, the seem to have bit of a problem with keeping the shelves constantly stocked. I don't know if it is a problem with keeping it stocked in the back or if they don't have enough employees to be looking at the shelves and restocking them; but every time I've asked it's always "I'm not too sure". read more

How can a craft store like this not have make-your-own stockings? However - I really liked their fine art supplies section! Ok....I don't know what it is about this place. It never really seems to have what I am looking for...close but no cigar in most cases. The staff is horribly discontent with being there. Not outright rude, mind you, just ...well..you can see that glazed over look in their eyes that makes you think that at that very moment, they are imagining themselves being tortured in a prison cell somewhere...and somehow that would be more pleasant to them than the act of ringing up your sale. The weird thing about Michael's for me though is I rarely shop there....maybe 2-3 times a year. And every time I do, I always think "This is the last time I am shopping here" but then a few months go by, and I start thinking....well..it's close to where I live and work...and really..they aren't sooo bad are they???" Not quite hobby lobby, but I can find supplies for my hobbies. I love their baskets, and usually they are always on sale...perfect for gift baskets. Also, they have pretty good priced for custom framing.... Don't let the old man help you though. He is super slow and doesn't like to do anything than a simple matting w frames.... I have recently been to this particular store multiple times for my sister's bridal shower and wedding. Everything was clean and neatly stocked. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lines were a little long on the weekend, but that was to be expected. Overall, I think this is the best one I have been to. read more
