Frustrating how nothing is tagged with the current sale price. All over the store there are sales but it's confusing to know which items are which You have to hunt down a sales person and they scan it At least have scanners around the store Plenty of stuff here but most impressive is the framing department in the back. Fun place to shop but too frustrating for me Prob try online and check that out . Large store located in the Quarry next to other stores like Old Navy, Whole Foods read more

The new self check machines at Michael's are a pain. Why can't you hire human beings. They did a much better job and it provided jobs. Too much technology takes away customer service which stores used to strive for. It's everywhere and it is not a good thing. Guess I'm too old school for all of this nonsense! read more

It is very odd for me to lower a star rating for a business, but this Michaels location has really earned it. I don't know if it's management issues, staffing issues or just corporate forgot about this store, but it just keeps getting worse through the years. I come here at least once a month for either seasonal decor, or just paper goods that I need for my work, and checking out always takes forever. First of all, for some reason many of the items they have at store are always missing the barcode which requires for someone to search that item online to get the accurate SKU number which takes a good extra 15min from my check out experience. I don't understand why they keep placing items for sell that don't have a code or haven't been processed... who knows what the issue is. Besides that, their "new" self-checkout machines are HORRIBLE. They are super slow, break all the time, and most of the time I always have to call someone to come and help me because the machine can't find my item. What's the point of removing cashiers if we still need a human to process our payment? Just overall, the in-person shopping experience is horrible and I sure hope they fix all of this soon. read more

This is probably the worst location I've been to. There are rarely any sales associates to help on the floor and you have to wait for a long time for anyone to come. I have asked questions about the art supplies, about dos and don'ts and they don't know. The manager was dismissive when asked to get help. They don't have a lot of art supplies so you may have better luck elsewhere. read more

RUDEST RUDEST Employees EVER Heaven forbid they go out of their way to help you out I still can't believe how awful I was just treated by what seemed to be a manager.... Yea the HB at the Quarry represents NOTHING like your typical or normal HB They should be ashamed of themselves Or at least reevaluate their employees I've been to this HB a dozen of times and have had some meh experiences but I'm usually not the type to a write a review like this... BUT hey they earned it. read more

Forget customer service. I went to make a purchase, and was told I could not be assisted because I was paying with a card. It was their policy I had to use their self service. I told Xander, I've paid here before, and he said No. I asked him, youd rather lose a sale than help me. Keep it, I don't need the items I was going to buy. read more

Don't waste your time with Michaels curbside. They are so unorganized. I was sitting outside in my car for almost 15 minutes waiting on hold. I had to go inside and wait longer for the cashier to call someone from the back to get me checked out. This is the second order I've had from here and both times I had to go inside to retrieve the item myself. Awful customer service. read more

Michaels - Arts & Crafts Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

It's a Michales you get what you get. However they seem to highly ignore their curbside orders forcing you to go into the store. If that's what they want then fine but don't offer curbside if you're going to make it a bad experience and force your customers to go in. read more

I love Michael's for all my craft makings! Although I'm so discouraged with an associate that for the 3rd time in 1 week has no sense of character to smile, nor have the courtesy to welcome customer in and come back again. I even tried striking up a conversation and absolutely no response. I will continue to shop at Michael's just not at The Rim location. Katey, I believe was her name, should have a little tlc coaching on to acknowledge customers and enlighten the them to open the opportunity to know that if anything employees are able to assist in anything. read more

This store has more variety and options. I craft like a lot. They always have the supplies I'm looking for. I have a Cricut and they have the smart vinyls and fabrics for my projects. The tumblers are a bit expensive compared to other stores. I appreciate the online order and pick up services offered. read more

Manager Sam put his hand on my lower back while we were talking and it was so creepy and off putting. Clean up your store and stop touching people. read more

Michael's has great stuff at really reasonable prices! I absolutely LOVE their framing department. I've probably custom framed at least 20 pieces of Art at Michael's over the years and I've loved how every single project turned out! Excellent value for the $$$!!! read more

Manager was terrible! It's Christmas and she left one little checkout person with a line 20 people deep. We had to ask for help for this poor person! Then she was totally unhelpful when we have overheard customers asking her where they could find things she would just vaguely point to the other part of the store and say over there. Be wise and don't go when in a hurry! read more

Price! The framing department is so overpriced even the 70% off is more than half the competitor. I'd like to frame here because I liked the frames. The person helping seemed like she rather do anything than offer assistance. read more

Don't ever expect any kind of service here. The employees are nowhere to be found, so if you have a question, you're out of luck. I get skeptical of this place because they're always putting these coupons out in the newspaper that allow you to get a deep discount on one item. Maybe I'm just cheap, but I'm always waiting for one of those coupons before I buy anything there. The framing expense can be wildly expensive, especially if you let them tack on all kinds of additional options. Most of the stuff here is made in China, and great if you need some crafty kinds of stuff. Checking out can be a royal pain, because there's so few employees working behind the register, trying to track down the SKU of individual doll heads. It always takes forever to check out there. Set aside plenty of time for checkout. Gah. read more

I don't think I've ever seen more than two employees here, which should be illegal for a store this size and with this variety of products. They must have elves who set up all of the holiday décor and sample flower arrangements. But they do also have a ton of products. From scrapbooking to knitting to collaging furniture to miniature dollhouses to your high school daughter's side business making Homecoming mums, you can get all of your art supplies here. And then some. Store has expanded to also carry a lot of décor items (for those of us who lack the creative bones to use the products sold here to make anything at all), and the framing department is always running some sort of discount- but I don't think I've ever seen anyone in that department, employee or customer. read more

Somehow there is always a HUGE line for checkout whenever I go. Usually I end up giving up and have to buy stuff off Amazon and I just wasted 30 minutes driving here and back.... read more

Employees had a bad attitude from the moment I walked in. Sorry I bothered you, lady! I'll just shop at Joann Fabrics for my crafts. Amazon is cheaper, too. Plus I don't get that bad customer service. I've worked retail for 12 yrs. Never would my employers allow me to be so ugly with customers. On top of that the employees don't wear masks and they were coughing and sneezing. Guess they do whatever they want here. read more

As this is a chain store, not too much different product-wise from any other Michael's...but here's a few things: 1. If you're going to come here even just every once in a while, sign up for their coupon thing, basically every time you go you can get like 40%-50% at least one item or sometimes your entire purchase. 2. If you need anything framed, go see John in the back by the framing section. He is super helpful and has endless patience which I find helpful when trying to choose colors and frame options! Michael's even has this camera now where they can take a picture of your artwork/photo and show you what it would look like with different frames, matting, etc. Way cool. It seams every other week they have 60% off custom framing. Moral of the story, never buy anything here at full price. Even if you don't have a coupon, discretely ask the person at the cashier, they'll probably be able to hook yo up! read more

I like that Michaels always sends me coupons for 50% or 55% off. And the seasonal sales always get me. I am a sucker for craft and art supplies so it doesn't take much to win me over. The store is super clean and has its own very awesome Wifi so you can look up what you need for that project or price compare with Amazon. Sometimes the prices are so low I feel like I am robbing the store. Anything from seasons past will be a good deal. Selection here is pretty incredible but it is not as well stocked as Hobby Lobby. But what it lacks in supplies, it makes up for in organization. I can find anything and there are price check points every few aisles. Things are conveniently placed and it is not a hodgepodge of craft supplies spewing out from all corners. The clearance aisles can be a mess especially after Christmas but for a neat freak like me, I find that going early makes for a more relaxing shopping experience. One thing I do not like is the long checkout process. There are often only 1 or 2 cashiers working. Again, going early can prevent a long wait but be prepared to wait. If there is ever a lull in the lines, take advantage because it can easily be backed up within minutes. Overall, I love the cleanliness of this store and the often very kind employees. Price check is my best friend (seriously, all stores need to adopt this) and the seasonal sales deserve my entire paycheck. read more

Girl at checkout had no idea how to do a return for store credit, due to it being a gift purchased in another state with a credit card I obviously didn't have. Diana came to assist but was incredibly rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. They didn't carry an item in there particular store and she said there was nothing I could do about it, even though I had a receipt. She was surprisingly rude and didn't want to offer any help, via phone of course since she walked away the second she could... Disgruntled much? read more

What has happened to customer service? I have been to this store several times over the last month, in search of parts for my sons Pinewood derby car. On every occasion that I have ventured in I wonder why I have come back to this horrible place. Trying to find someone to assist you is harder than getting a bill passed through congress. I have yet to find anyone willing to help me. After searching the store and finding the supplies I need I head for the checkout. Every visit is the same story long lines and employees who seem incapable of efficiency. A typical wait to checkout is more than 5 minutes. Seriously, it is faster to checkout of HEB on Thanksgiving eve than to check out at Michael's. How hard is it to open up more checkout stands? read more

I don't know why this store can't gets its act together. There is always never enough cashiers leaving a queue of six or more people waiting. Nearly every interaction requires a manager, and no one who works here understands what's going on. Only reason I come here is that it's close and I despise Hobby Lobby. read more

Don't know what's up with all the negative! We had a great experience and cleaned them out of several items I need for our wedding. It's a typical Michael's so it's not like they will cater to your every whim and hold your hand but honestly they were pretty sweet! We found everything we were looking for- even something obscure like magnetic self-adhesive strips! Thanks Michael's I'll send you virtual love hug from here! read more

This Michaels was most notable for the friendliness/helpfulness of their staff. Everyone who has been to a Michaels, knows that it can be very daunting if you are trying to find one little thing and you are in a hurry. The shelves can often me mixed up, and they may categorize the one thing you need in the most unlikley place, at least in your mind. And ususally, in my experience, there is only one person in the store, and that's usually at check out, so you are on your own, unless they are about to stock shelves. Well, in my experience, I was running in to Michaels at 3pm on a saturday, in a rush to get cupcake liners and some ribbon... I was helped by not one, not two, but THREE different associates of Michaels who not only showed me where the restroom, ribbon, and cupcake places were, but walked me to the areas, showing the utmost patience and service. I was in and out with a 50% discount coupon in hand, and was one happy customer! read more

Wow, you can see this place doesn't read Yelp for customer service feed back because this Michaels is really the pits! It has been for several years and the ONLY reason I come here is because it's conveniently located to home and work. Every time I need something and hunt someone down to ask they wont walk you to the place, they point and tell you an aisle. Swell! Also I've had several occasions where they need to check the prices, say I'm wrong then I physically have to walk to the spot and prove myself right. It's pretty annoying, but it is worth the inconvenience of saving the few dollars. I usually waste my time here, they don't have what I'm looking for and can find it cheaper at Hobby Lobby. read more

I'll say it. I'm an arts and crafts nerd. And by nerd, I'm sure you understand cool kid. Anyway, I frequent hobby and arts and crafts stores and recently stopped in this one in search of a few items for a project I was making for some of my coworkers. The selection is sort of typical of every other Michaels, but what sets this one apart is the service. I'm sorry to report it was just awful. Asking for help here made me feel like I was interrupting the employees and they had no desire to help me find what I was looking to buy. It was really actually surprising how unhelpful they were. This wasn't my first visit, and others in the past have sort of gone the same way. As long as you know what you need and don't need help finding it, this is an okay source for arts and crafts supplies. But, the service consistently makes me choose other places for those needs. read more

I just left from there and I'm not really happy. I came in earlier and there was a big long line with only two or or three people checking customers out. Needless to say I wasn't happy and left immediately. However, I thought that if I went back later that the line would be shorter and/or they would have more people to check customers out. Needless to say the line was even longer the second time. This is one of the few places near my area that I can get craft supplies for the kids so this was my only option and time was running short with all the errands that we had to do. I even asked the checkout person if it that was always like this and he said that it was. This is the last time I will come to the store and will opt for driving way further for two other craft stores in the near future. read more

11 people in line and only two of the eight registers were open. Left without what I needed and ordered on Amazon. They have GOT to hire more people! Horrible customer service read more

Stephanie, the manager is helpful and will take care of everything you need. She's a total boss ! Thank you Stephanie.

It's a decent store, a bit small but I usually find what I need. The staff have mostly been friendly and helpful, all though I will say that some of them have stared at me as I walk around because I look a bit confused, but they have never offered help. Additionally, the seem to have bit of a problem with keeping the shelves constantly stocked. I don't know if it is a problem with keeping it stocked in the back or if they don't have enough employees to be looking at the shelves and restocking them; but every time I've asked it's always "I'm not too sure". read more

Asked an associate where the red stockings were and she pointed to the corner of the store by entrance. The next associate which whom looks like a manager did not look happy about having a job. I later then asked the first associate where the glitter glue pens were and she said either row 91, 92 or 97.... um okay??? Like if you dont know why dont you come with me and we can both find out.. read more

Sad about my experience for Christmas goodies - here's why: Messy, crammed, short of employees at the register, and disappointing in it's selection, this Michael's did not do the job! How can a craft store like this not have make-your-own stockings? However - I really liked their fine art supplies section! I got a good deal (buy1, get1) on Canson sketchpads, and their oils and inks were of a good variety. They also had a great range of canvases. read more

Ok....I don't know what it is about this place. It never really seems to have what I am looking for...close but no cigar in most cases. The staff is horribly discontent with being there. Not outright rude, mind you, just ...well..you can see that glazed over look in their eyes that makes you think that at that very moment, they are imagining themselves being tortured in a prison cell somewhere...and somehow that would be more pleasant to them than the act of ringing up your sale. The weird thing about Michael's for me though is I rarely shop there....maybe 2-3 times a year. And every time I do, I always think "This is the last time I am shopping here" but then a few months go by, and I start thinking....well..it's close to where I live and work...and really..they aren't sooo bad are they???" And then I journey there....and have the exact same unpleasant experience over and over again. Like the movie "Groundhogs Day"...only in the forum of arts and crafts...blechhh read more

Not quite hobby lobby, but I can find supplies for my hobbies. I love their baskets, and usually they are always on sale...perfect for gift baskets. I love that its at the Quarry....so close to home so a quick fix on hobby supplies.... read more

I understand that stores are busy during the holidays, but that is why you hire seasonal help. This location is notorious for having way too few cashiers for the volume it does. Awesome Staff and Customer Service, make sure you check the website for Coupons, Military Wednesdays !!

The customer service at this location is horrible. I wish I would have read the reviews before I walked in the store. The upper management needs to know how their employees treat the customers. I'm sure a few employees and their tacky manager wouldn't be employed. You won't catch me at this location ever again. read more
