I found what I was looking for despite the employees. One tall bearded employee asked if I was finding what I was looking for. When I described what I wasn't finding and asked when there might be more selection, I was told "what we get is there, I have no control over what the truck brings". The employee turned and moved on. Five minutes later on a different aisle when I had found what I was looking for, they (same employee), asked me again the same question. I replied "I didn't value the first response, why would I waste my time". This incident would not normally be the meat and potatoes of a review, but the employee appeared to be representing management. I will attempt shopping here again and hope for a better response to a request for green yarn. read more

Great customer service from the gentleman who answered my questions when I was looking for a product. He was working hard, and had glasses and blonde hair. However, when I went to check out, it was a different story. It appears they just installed a self-serve kiosk, which has now made their customer service greatly suffer. I went up to the regular checkout register after the agent told me to come over. She then asked if I was paying with cash or card. I said card. Then she said, "Okay, you can go over to the self-serve kiosk." What? Why wouldn't she just check me out herself since we're both right here and there was no other customers around? It appeared she was directed by what seems to have been the manager, who was just standing around. I have a disability, and using self-serve kiosks isn't something I can do easily. So, I went over to the kiosk, and it didn't even work properly. I had to signal one of the two workers standing about 5 feet away from me, who were talking to each other (not helping customers check out), and he was very passive-aggressive (again, what appeared to be the manager). I just have to say, I don't think I'll ever come back to Michael's. Not that it matters because they are a huge corporation and my business means nothing to them (even though I go at least 3 times a month). But we really need to be aware of what's happening before our very eyes and call out these corporations for what they try to get away with. If you can't connect with your customers and appreciate their business, what will make them want to come back? I always loved going to Michael's of yesteryear. They had incredible customer service, especially at check out. They would even help me find coupons for discounts and go above and beyond for me over the years. But now, this has left a bad impression, and I feel I would rather go out of my way to find a local Mom n' Pop store where they actually appreciate my business. Maybe this is an isolated incident for this particular store and its management, or maybe it's a company-wide issue where they force their employees to toe the line and shuffle customers to fend for themselves. Or maybe it's a little bit of both. That being said, something needs to change. read more

Needless to day I won't ever be back. Boy oh boy does this location need new management and staff! I visited this location early this morning and was 100% blown away by the customer service being completely out of the window. It was beyond terrible. To me the biggest aspect to any establishment you walk into is customer service! I honestly hadn't received bad customer service in a good while but man did this store change that aspect in a blink of a eye. Walking into the store I noticed a manager and 3 employees at the front. They were all talking and putting items on shelves. NOT 1 employee turned around to welcome me or my partner into the store. I told my partner I know they heard the doors and hear us talking? Wow ok. Walking around the store at around 10:30 am, mind you its early and you would expect the store to be clean and organized, it totally wasn't. Some areas looked like they hadn't been stocked in weeks. We passed 3 workers on the floor and not one asked if we needed help finding anything, as we clearly were looking all over the store for one item. I finally asked one employee while she was having a conversation with another employee where the item is that I'm looking for and instead of walking me to the area she points to that back of the store and says 'it should be on the back wall.' I was upset, I looked at my hubby blown away that this is the way employees here treat customers. Not to mention I'm 9 months pregnant and you can tell I'm huge so in the store all I can think is WOW, she couldn't stop her convo to show me the item which guess what they were out of stock. I told hubby lets go this is by far the worst location ever. Mind you I have been to many craft stores and NEVER experienced terrible customer service like this location. As were walking out with nothing, the manager is now gone and the 3 employees are at the registers talking away, of course they don't look our way. Seriously would give this location 0 stars if it was possible. I won't ever be back. I'll stay a paying customer at Hobby Lobby where the employees are welcoming and have wonderful customer service! They have a really large selection of arts and crafts items. If you are not a crafty person, just walking will get you in the mood. I have to give 3 stars for the lack of customer service. The employees come off as if it's an inconvenience if you ask them to help you find something. The only thing that keeps me coming back are the coupons that are in Sunday's paper. read more

It does seem to be hard to find an employee to help you, although I didn't actually need one so it wasn't an issue. I have ordered online and picked up my items here and it has always been super smooth. I can get sucked in there looking at all the holiday decorations, that's why I try to order online to avoid buying more things I don't need. The line is often pretty long at check out so it is also nice to not have to wait in that. read more

Grace is spot-on about the lacking of customer service at this location but Michaels is one of the few choices for buying arts & crafts supplies so you just suffer through it. For my wedding, I was in and out of this location every Sunday to utilize their coupon on whatever it was I "needed" that week. Now that I'm trying to spruce up old furniture and make my own deco, I found myself here again this past Sunday. Let's get past the negative and on to the positive: 1. I like that they are clean. 2. Horrible Experience!! - I took my 6 year old daughter to the Michaels at the Rim earlier this evening. We recently moved to San Antonio from Indiana and had developed a tradition to go to the "Art Store" once a week and let her buy two things. She had picked out a couple of items and as we rounded the corner into the checkout area, there was a shelf of Hatchimals - no description or price anywhere around them. She immediate put her other items down and said "Can I have this?!". I had a "40% off any one item" coupon and said fine. However when we made it to the register I was somewhat coldly informed that the coupon was not good for this item because it was "At our everyday low price". I asked how much it was because it was not marked and she scanned and showed "$69.95". My daughter started to cry and I pushed back that this was not on sale and asked why it was being singled out and the cold cashier stated the same thing she had already said. We left - my daughter did not want anything else and just held her head down and cried. When I got home I checked Amazon.com for their price for the "Glitering garden Hatchimal" and it is on sale for $51.27 (Original price listed as $59.99). I ordered from Amazon. What an absolutely cruel and unethical trick by Michaels to place these where every child coming through will see them at the end of their visit but before their parents pay, overprice them and then fail to honor their coupons! We will never step foot in a Michaels store again! Shame on Michaels! read more

Tidy aisles today... Found everything I needed - picture hanging wire, decorative picture hooks, and I picked up a few fake flowers for a centerpiece. Cashier didn't greet as I checked out - what is up with grumpy teenagers?! I think this locations layout is confusing compared to the Alamo Ranch store. I paid cash today since hearing of their recent computer system hack... However I was there last week and will probably have to get another debit card (#2 after the Target hack!). read more

My first time visiting this location and it unfortunately didn't go well. There were people on the floor, but no one asked if I needed help and I did. I passed by people stocking shelves who were too busy in their conversation with each other. I had my 2 kids in tow, which meant we needed a bathroom break while shopping. The bathroom was ridiculously dirty. There was soiled toilet paper piled high by both toilets and the diaper changer was not easily accessible. I had to change my baby on top of my stroller. When I checked out, the cashier was so busy talking to her fellow employee about how she was going to leave soon because of school that she forgot one of my bags. I didn't realize I was missing it until I had both kids loaded in the car. I then had to unload both kids, the stroller, and bags with receipt to return for the missing bag. When I got there the cashiers friend handed me the bag and sent me on my way. And then it started raining. So in the rain I had to reload my children back in the car because they didn't give me all my bags in the first place. They were too concerned with their conversations to recognize a customer.
