Always tons of things to choose from and sales galore. They have stuff for absolutely anything you can think of. Particularly when I arrived yesterday I was greeted upon entering which was very nice and gave a welcoming feeling. As I approached the counter to check out, the older woman didn't really want to check out my items. I asked if she could help me and use a larger bag (as the self-checkout has regular size bags) she gave me a bag and said "I thought you were going to the self-checkout" I was taken aback by that and decided go to there. The cashier Lois was incredibly rude to my fiance, who I sent to pick something up the day before our wedding. He approached her saying he had some questions, to which she responded "why do you have questions". She also said that if he wasn't sure what part he needed I should have come myself (he was asking for help finding it and I was extremely busy, hence him trying to help me out). She refused to help him at all, to the point where I myself had to drive out to Michael's the DAY BEFORE our wedding to get literally one item. I'm not sure why Michael's would continue to have someone so condescending work at their store, I'm an avid crafter and have been coming to this Michael's for about 12 years and now I kind of want to find a new craft store literally just because of Lois. I highly recommend AVOIDING this location, it is absolutely worth driving to a Joann's or hobby lobby read more

It's a good day when your Michael's coupon works. For my partner and I that day was today. We walked in on a wet snowy evening just as the light grey sky was becoming a darker grey. I could just smell the holiday season in this Michael's. Honestly three stars for that alone! Just kidding. There are more reasons for the four stars. Umm, most things were stocked. This store lost a star because there was a huge pile of carts and other stuff making the clearance aisle hard to access. Like oh you want to get big savings? Try this obstacle course. The other thing is that the layout is not intuitive. My partner was walking so fast just to find some ribbon and no Michael's representative was offering to help. We found it in the end but it was a scavenger hunt. Overall it was pretty good,...love the Halloween decoration too. Thank you Michael. read more

I've never felt more disrespected in a retail experience... I made an online purchase for an in-store pickup for several print frames. My wife arrived at the store only to find they weren't honoring the promotion. After a very uncomfortable exchange with the staff and manager, she kindly requested to return the items, but they refused to accept the return - until she became more forceful about her right to return what she had clearly just purchased in-store. I called the store at that moment to calmly explain the circumstances and straighten out the situation. They accused me for being rude and hung up on me. Really??? I am completely incredulous that a company can represent itself this way and still be in business. we will certainly make our purchases elsewhere. So long, Michael's. Please consider hiring and training staff and managers that know how to treat people with decency and respect. read more

I've been to this Michael's several times both for things I need and don't need. What I like about the Michael's brand are all the sales and coupons. Therefore, picking up things I don't need, doesn't feel as bad when I'm not paying full price (crap, that's how they get me). Things I like: -this store is kept pretty organized and clean -you can find holiday items on sale before the holiday's done (i.e.; valentines day) -when you're able to find a salesperson they're helpful and knowledgable...for the most part Things I don't like: - there are rarely enough salesperson on the floor to help - there aren't enough price check scanners throughout the store (I've only seen 2) - data/wi-fi connection is spotty, which can result in extra time trying to pull up coupons - similar items are placed in several sections of the store resulting in lots of back & forth or missing something (I've seen this w/ monogram letters, corks, paint, wood signs w/ sayings like Dream) Things I wish: -Baskets with smaller slots would be nice! While the slots aren't big, I've had smaller like paint brushes and pens slip through/fall out. With the paint brush, I didn't even realize it fell out, until I was walking around saw it on the floor, thought it looked familiar, looked in my basket and noticed the one I had put in there was missing. -Self-serve Kiosk would be nice! Since there aren't enough sales people on the floor, being able to research products & check availability at other locations would be great; especially since data connection is spotty (I've actually shared this one with them). read more

Olfactory overload! Wow. I felt as though I had dove into a Yankee Candle Autumn Spice pillar candle when I entered here. Still can't shake the smell. It's one thing to be overwhelmed by scent when you go into a Lush or other perfumery, but a crafts store? I was also amazed at the amount of faux flowers and stick wreaths. What do people do with all that crap? Maybe not much since there was so much still in the store. I'm not much of a DIY craft person. I'd like to be, but I become project ADD about half way through. But maybe I'd be more inspired to make an effort if I actually enjoyed shopping for the supplies. There is nothing I like about shopping here. A lot of the crap looks cheap, or maybe they just need a better merchandising department. Kmart has it together better than these guys. I think next time I'll check out Crafty Planet...from the other reviews, they seem to be on my level more. And who knows, I might just discover my inner Martha. read more

I don't visit Michael's a lot but needed some custom framing and they had a sale going on, so that pleased me right away. Kevin helped me figure out the mat for my original artwork, and he was friendly and helpful, giving me the time I needed to make up my mind. I also took advantage of the buy one get one free frame deal - and bought 2 frames for $19.99. Because I wasn't sure of the color I wanted I added a third frame for the full price of $19.99, to try at home and then return whichever I did not want. When I went to do the return I was credited $9.99. I spoke to the young cashier lady, explaining that this was a frame I had paid full price for ($19.99) and she was curt, not wanting to engage in any conversation, and called the manager. When the manager came she said to her about me 'she doesn't understand, please explain to her.' I figured it out on my own - no thanks to the rude cashier - that the frame I had returned was being treated as part of the buy one get one free pair. I ended up returning all three frames and buying the two I wanted to keep. It worked out in the end but I did not appreciate the cashier's refusal to listen to my question or her lack of patience to explain the reason. My advice to the cashier: If you can't work with people this job may not be the best fit for you. Still, I'm giving it 3 stars because on my second visit, there was a different cashier who was very helpful and courteous. As was Kevin. Other than that it's like a regular craft store - aisle after aisle of stuff that can quickly make you lose sense of time or perspective, turn a hobby into an obsession, and fill your home with all sorts of handmade crafts and fake plastic flowers. read more

I've shopped at this Michaels location multiple times since 2005. It's the closest Michaels location from where I live, but since the Bloomington site opened, I much prefer that one. REGARDLESS, this Michaels is great for that last-minute oh-no-I-forgot-that-I-only-have-half-a-teaspoon-of-Modge-Podge-left-and-need-another-container-pronto scenario before running off to your crafting group event. This is one of the smaller locations and is located at "The Hub" strip mall in Richfield, where most of the stores carry the stereotypical lesser quality "strip mall" feel. The crafting selection covers all of the average crafters needs and they are generous with doling out coupons in the mail and online. Service is friendly when asked, but sometimes appears to be understaffed, especially on weekends and that is especially depressing when the line is 5 deep and you've got a crafting group to make an appearance at with your latest creative flairs. read more

Everything you need for idle hands. I don't come to Michael's a lot but when I walked in the smell of potpourri reminded me of visits with my mom when I was a kid, some things you just don't forget. I was shocked at how affordable everything was, I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping and found the majority of their art section was 50% OFF! While I was there I did a little roaming around and found other things that got the creative juices flowing. Of course I didn't act on those urges but felt comfortable knowing I could always come back and get something to keep me busy for an artsy fartsy weekend craft project. read more

Holy shit, it's just like any middle aged womans dream! You can come in here and find all kinds of stuff to occupy you and your cats time! Puzzles, scrapbooking, the herpes of art supplies GLITTER. Seriously it's totally full of stuff you never thought you needed! Then again, you probably didn't... My previous job brought me here. I'm usually so bored in Michael's Stores. Their competitor coupon policy sucks also. Coupons can't be used on books or magazines or anything else on sale. I found a rescue dog car magnet at regular price so my coupon was good on that. The store reeks of scented pine cones at the entrance. I honestly like Joanne Etc and Hobby Lobby much better. This store is smaller than the Burnsville or Apple Valley stores. Will I return? Probably not. read more

it's like any other big chain of stores. you go in, nobody talks to you because they are all too busy talking to each other, so you have to find someone to ask.... ummm do you know where this is?.... and they say....oh i'm sorry that's not my area i only know about the silk flowers.---- ok so then why are you over by the stamps? ohhh i know cuz that is where your friend is so you wanted to talk to them. this has happened almost every time i've gone in there. even when you check out it is a rare thing for them to talk to you, or even say "thank you" when you leave. the sad truth is that i will go back, it is within walking distance from my work and they always give you that 40% off coupon.... hmmmm maybe that's cuz the service sucks. read more

I went to Michaels in Richfield this afternoon for the first time. When I went to check out, there was a line of five or six customers. Four clerks and four cash registers were within about 6 feet of the line, but only one register was open and the other three clerks were not making eye contact with customers. This store clearly doesn't care about serving its customers. read more

I have been to this Michael's three times for my wedding supplies. They have been out or not carried what I need all three times. While the staff has been helpful, they have twice sent me to "nearby" stores over 20 minutes away. It's Michael's, so it's great... but I would not recommend this particular location. I've been there about five times and every time the employees have been rude, like checking someone out is a major inconvenience. Prices have also been incorrectly labeled and when I asked about it as it was being rung up, the employee just said nope this is the price and continued ringing things up without asking about the incorrect signage or if I even still wanted to buy the item. read more
