I've come to Michael's twice now specifically for framing artwork. In the end, the framing was outstanding. I'm extremely pleased with the end product. The staff I dealt with were very helpful and friendly if they could be found. On multiple occasions I had to walk from one end of the store to the front counter to ask for someone to help me. The store is large and has just about everything you could need for your arts and crafts projects. But again, staffing seems to be an issue here. I can't say how pricing is here as other arts stores are not nearby especially for specialty framing. Even with the "special 70% off" pricing, with some add-ons like better glass and inside decorations, my 9x12 artwork framing was $200. Not cheap. Took a few weeks to have completed. But I'm happy. This Michael's also does UPS drop off, I believe. And they have balloons. If you have some patience and can deal with some not so great or missing staff, I'd make the trip. read more

Today I was making a purchase of a product that I saw on the website, it had a great price, and when I went to the checkout to pay, the cashier said she couldn't match the price. I didn't understand why. I said, "Okay, I'll buy it online" and waited for you to pick and pack it. The manager then jumped into the conversation and told me I'd have to wait an hour or more because she didn't have time to process the order. When I waited for the checkout, the product was in the same place I'd left it. She told me it wasn't ready yet, but then she told another employee that all that was left was to print the label because the product was there. Then she turned to me and said, "The printer was broken, if you want, you can take it without a receipt." She made me wait out of pleasure. THIS STORE IS HORRIBLE. ( THE EMPLOYERS) read more

When I tell you I will not be back there again... believe me I placed my order on line so that I could avoid the holiday rush. Just go in and grab my order without having to wait in line. So I walk in, look around for a little then I head up to the line to pick up my order. When I get to the cashier I inform her that I placed a order on line and I am there for pick up. She looks away and says "you can go over there" I get instantly annoyed because I'm wondering , go where over there So I stepped to the side since I had no clue of where over there she was referring to. I hear her say on the phone or walkie "online order pickup". So it's takes about ten minutes for the person who handles the orders to make her way up. First off, she did not even come to where I was. I was on the right she was yelling talking to me from the left side of the store where the online orders are stored in a locker. She did not walk up and great me at all. She just said "what is your name". I said a Kelly and also told her my last name also since most places use last names for online orders. She yells "Ellie" ... Like how unprofessional can you be. I know it's michaels so I mean come on I am not expecting too classy. But that was just horrible. I say no "Kelly" she says "is that lly". Let me tell you I was disgusted. I placed my order on line to beat the crown. I worked all day as well and if I was looking for attitude after spending my hard earned cash that wouldn't be my choice of place. I don't even want to say they need customer service training. Because saying "hello" and not talking to someone from across the room should be common courtesy. But non the less. Never do a pick up order here or believe what the website says is in stock. It took 24 hours for them to refund the order saying it was not in stock. Last week I went online and it said it was in stock in the store. Of course I drove there and it was not. Same thing with this online order. First impressions looking at the building you can tell they don't care at all, it's dingy no decorations on the outside of a Michael's is not a good sign. They are low on stock, no one around to help you. This place is terrible, I would gladly drive an extra 10 minutes to visit a different location. How don't you sell basic things like lined paper? This location is located in a very busy area (but it is convenient). I had a hard time finding things in the store, they seem to be in different places than other locations. The cashier we had handling our return seemed kind of annoyed at us, she changed her attitude towards the end but she was definitely giving us attitude in the beginning. read more

Great place for finding crafty items for the ultimate crafter. Not a great place for the person trying to get in and out. I waited in line for about 20 minutes before another register opened. Even with the long wait I always find something on clearance that I can use at home or in the classroom. So I'm still in line and they now have an express check out, pretty cool. A woman with a scanner who scans your items and hands you an express card. Nice! read more

I stopped in to the Roosevelt Blvd. location yesterday to see if I could find some canning supplies. I haven't canned in many years but with a bumper crop of blackberries and tomatoes to store, I figured where better to go than a craft store. My problem was not that the store didn't carry the canning tongs or pectin that I needed, which I thought was strange since canning jars were available, but that the young girl in charge was so rude and obviously annoyed with me. She was the first employee I saw after walking the store to see if I could find the supplies I needed so I asked if Michaels carried canning supplies. I was clearly bothering her. She rolled her eyes, pointed to jars and walked away at a pace that said, "Don't bother me". After not finding the tongs I needed, I saw her again by the register and asked if they might be somewhere else. Again she rolled her eyes and spat, "I guess not then". I smiled and put down the few items I had in my hands and left. What a bad experience. Many years ago, I managed a womens clothing store and I know how to take care of a customer even if I didn't have what they were looking for so that when they were looking for what I sold, it was my store they'd come back to. Great selection of pretty much anything you need. Awesome store that gives you so many great ideas when you walk around. Just make sure you know what you need and where to find it. Had to walk around for 20 minutes to find a staff member. The staff at checkout were just ignoring us. When we did find someone we had to explain to her 5 times what we were trying to do and what we needed. She was very un knowledgeable and stared at us with a blank face. She ended up sending us in the wrong direction. Other then the staff, the store is great! read more

You can always find a good sale going on, and half the time you can find what you're looking for in the clearance section. The staff does a great job keeping the store tidy and organized, and are very kind and helpful. This store also carries high quality products. Anything bought will not be disappointing! read more

Was in there yesterday and I needed help on a price scan for the item I picked out. I seen a short skinny young black woman that was working there and said excuse me can you help me. She heard me and kept walking, so I decided to say excuse me again but louder she then swung around with a nasty look on her face and stared at me. I said can you please price check this for me, she then scanned the item and turned her back on me with a disgusting attitude and left. I had a bad taste in my mouth after that. Then I decided I didn't want the item same lady I said to her again excuse me can you place this item back for me. She looked at me again with an angry and replied with an attitude, WHAT. Like she can't understand English at that point I got upset and spoke louder here take this item and return it. Left the store I noticed as I left though the window she and her other white male coworker thought it was funny. I hope she gets fired she is a nasty B. read more

This Michael's has just started up a new painting class program using Grumbacher Acrylic paints. Each two hour class,during which you paint a complleted picture, is dedicated to one of four topics. Landscape, Seascape, Floral, Still Life. The classes are aimed at beginners and intermediate skill levels but no prior painting experience is needed. The instructor, Laura Cameron is a profession with more than twenty years experience in fine and commercial arts. These classes are only $25 each plus you buy the materials needed whichyou can then use to continue your work at home. The classes are great for kids and a fun way to make a unique gift for the holidays. I highly recommend taking one. They are starting up again Friday Sept. 9th and at the new Bala Cynwyd store on Thursday Sept. 15th.
