Went in to the store and shopped and felt they were too vigilant and too concerned they were not going to get home quickly. If you have a child with special needs I highly suggest not going to this location- I have never been treated so rudely by a manager in a retail establishment. I went in today- (Weds afternoon, 2/26/2020)with my 4 year old son who has a lot of sensory issues and special needs. He was very excited and wanted to get a St Patrick's day shirt and necklace. He put them on himself and I told him we could buy them. The manager harassed and followed us throughout the store, communicated with her employees through the walky talky and had them watch us. Anytime my son touched anything or took it off the shelf she yelled at me that "my son was ruining her display, get control of your child" (He took a couple sewing baskets off a bottom shelf and put them on the floor, it took me less than 30 seconds to return them. I picked up anything my son touched and put it back neatly) I explained that "he has special needs and that children are part of society- we were ALL an active 4 year old at one point in our life. I'm doing the best I can, please stop being so rude and judgemental. You could be a little more kind and understanding considering this is a store geared towards families and children" My son is very sensory seeking and just wanted to touch and explore things. It's hard for children like him to self regulate. I asked this rude manager for her name and she refused. Two of her employees also refused to give me her name. The manger was abrasive, rude and condescending. The cashier was snappy with me and also very condescending. When I asked the managers name I explained her rude treatment to us, to which she replied "well none of my managers are rude, they are all very nice" She had no compassion or concern for how I was just treated. I explained to both the manager and the employee how I fully intended on buying the $5 shirt and $2 necklace my son was wearing. The manager yelled at me thay my son broke the necklace. I told her we were buying it- and it wasn't broken, the piece had just slipped off. Everywhere we went this woman was right behind us as if we were going to tear apart her store or steal something. She strategically placed her employees around us as we shopped . It was so emmbarrassing. I felt so judged- as a special needs mom, no one is harder on me than I am on myself. A little kindness and compassion to a mother who is obviously struggling goes a long way. As I handed the cashier the shirt, (I just grabbed another one for her to ring in to make things easier as he was wearing it and I explained that to her) she responded to her manager that I had given her the shirt to pay for. I said "are you implying that I was trying to steal this? I already told your manager that my son wanted to put it on and that I was paying for it" she snapped at me in a very rude tone "well we just need to make sure our merchandise is paid for" When we were leaving I started to cry and I told the cashier that I hope she never has a child with special needs and experiences the treatment that her and her manager gave me today. I would also like to mention that this location isn't very clean or well stocked- th Concord location is much cleaner and the employees are kinder, more personable and helpful. I was disappointed in the selection, cleanliness and over appearance of the store as well. read more

I came here when visiting some family in NH to pick up some yarn to fix a blanket I had crocheted for my newly born granddaughter and I had one of the most wonderful and lovely experiences with an employee named Isabella. She was so helpful and sweet in choosing the kinds of yarn and reading out the prices for me (I forgot my prescription glasses at home silly me). I would definitely come here again and would seek out this specific employee's help because of how sweet and nice she was. 10/10 would recommend this store. read more

When you think of crafty stores, you probably already think of Michael's. This store is like its brethren - stocked to the gills with all kinds of cute baubles and widgets with which you can crochet-scrapbook-doodle-bake-and-bead to your hearts content. Plenty of Martha Stewart brand stuff. The shelves are orderly (as much as can be) and the staff are friendly and helpful. It makes such a great experience! Prices are on par with other Michael's. From an artist's perspective, I'm relieved to have discovered that they do carry a limited amount of fine art supplies. This is a huge relief because this is the only place that even passes for an art supply store in the Manchester area. Though I love crafts, I have to direct my review to the fine art supplies because this is the merchandise I know the best. They carry: --Drawing paper (Canson Mi-Teintes) & Cardboards --Acrylics --Watercolor supplies (no papers heavier than 140 lb., however) --Oil paints and related supplies. (Winton, Windsor & Newton, Grumbacher. No Gamblin, unfortunately.) --Canvas (acrylic primed), brushes, solvents (Turpenoid, Odorless paint thinner), Mediums/Varnishes (linseed oil, liquin, damar), plastic palettes, etc. It is a respectable inventory. For a novice or someone looking to give these methods a try, Michael's has what you need. Certainly they have what a professional might need in a real pinch -- such as Artist's grade Windsor & Newton oil colors. The prices are too high to make this a place I'll go to stock up, however. I would like to see them expand their selection in papers to include Canson Ingres. I also sorely miss the Gamblin Odorless Mineral Spirits and other Gamblin products (varnishes and mediums). read more

Michaels in Manchester NH is fantastic. But don't try buying on line for home delivery. If you have a problem you will sit on chat hold over an hour only for them to tell you there is nothing they can do because you waited to long to inform them. Because you were on hold. And try to find a cancel button on the order site. And you can't get help quickly with that because of the stupid robot system you have to fight with in order to finally hold for that hour. I will NEVER order on line from them again and don't plan on buying anything from them period for a very long time if ever again. They are ridiculous when you have a problem. And to think I was going to buy my new sewing machine when it was back in stock. Nope will buy it elsewhere now. I don't like companies you have to fight with for them to take care of customer satisfaction. I have been in retail for more than 30 years and I would never work for a company that doesn't care about their customers. read more

I was just at this Michaels' this past week and a young woman named Desiree helped me out. I couldn't find the ribbon for some reason (I kept circling) And instead of trying to tell me where it was, she actually walked me there. It was awesome, because I definitely would have missed it again had she not shown me. She ended up being the one who rang me out also. I had an annoying return since a whole collection of things I bought the week before went 60% off. She didn't act annoyed and was friendly throughout the entire transaction. I like Michael's in general, but this particular store is one of the worst I've ever been to. It's set up so tight and crowded, barely one person can go down an aisle at a time, and god forbid you have a cart. Half of the shelves are bare too. It's unfortunately one of those stores where you just want to get out of so fast that you don't enjoy being there, and I personally think that part of the appeal of a crafty type store is perusing everything to get inspiration. Save yourself the frustration and go to the Hobby Lobby down the street. It's a million times better. read more

I get email newsletters from Michael's & happen to have a gift card so I went to buy some yarn. I imagined since it's a craft store there would be a great selection. HA!!! Was I Wrong!! I shopped here everyday and have been making wonderful renovations to my van. I live in the van so I want it to be warm and look nice. They have some helpful employees and a good selection of products. However, when I was using the bathroom the store manager came in and harassed me saying "this isnt a hotel you know." we had a very awkward conversation in the bathroom. His excuse to be rude to me was that I came in to use the bathroom in the morning after sleeping in the parking lot. I explained that buy a lot of stuff here everyday, he knows that cause he has seen me purchase glue, plants, moss wraps, and tons of velcro. When I stated my position in life he said I could be towed and then walked out of the bathroom in the middle of my sentence. I was asking this guy for advice. I was horrified at the fact that this guy entered the bathroom to belittle me with no professionalism or concern for my position in life. I will never give this Michaels my business again and no credit will go to them for my renovations. Hobby Lobby down the street welcomed me into their classroom for the entire day to finish my insulation panels. read more

I stopped in Micheal's today to pick up a few things and use the coupons I had gotten in my email the day before. I had a 50% off to use on a regular priced item and then a 5.00 off if the total purchase was over 25.00. So after I use the 50% off coupon my order came to 25.97, I should be able to us the 5.00 one right? The cashier next to us even told my cashier that she would have to manually enter it because they had had problems with them all day. So my cashier calls over a manager ( older woman with short white hair and glasses). I have never in my life seen a retail employee try SO HARD to not make a sale. She refused the coupon and told me that I was only allowed to use one. Even though it says that NO WHERE in the coupons. This woman was incredibly rude and had a "My way or the highway" attitude. Honestly with her personality she REALLY should get OUT of customer service because she sucks at it. read more

I've shopped in Michael's many times and had numerous custom frames made for various pictures. The prices always seemed reasonable until last winter. I had framed a small oil my daughter had painted. Perhaps ten linear feet of frame material. No mat. No glass. It was $185 after the discount. Way out of line. $185. And there's no recourse. There's a grade school dropout posing as a manager with an arrogant attitude. I walked out disgusted. If my daughter hadn't painted it, I'd have left it on the counter. Never never never again will I shop there. Way too expensive, and the quality is barely adequate. I left phone messages, and the "Store Manager" made a few half-hearted attempts to contact me. I am a very frequent shopper at Michael's stores, make visits multiple times a week. This Manchester NH store is by far the worst I have visited. Every. Single. Time. There is some kind of issue with coupons. I would love to see this imaginary coupon handbook that this particular store goes by. It is a different story with every cashier I have had. I've literally never had this problem at any other Michael's store, and of course this is the closest to to my home.
