I love Michael's. But unfortunately, I don't even bother with the only one thats close to me due to the employee's that work that store.... They are ridiculous with profiling people!! They think everybody is in there to steal so they'll either blatantly follow you around or take the more low-key approach and you'll notice they just so happen to start stocking shelves in the same aisle you're browsing in. They also like to do this thing where they announce over the P.A. system "Long Beach P.D. - Line One" to make you think they have called the police on you to get people out of the store! read more

I truly do not have enough words to describe how unbelievably awful our experience has been with the custom framing department at Michael's. Specifically, with Kristen. My sweet, very patient mother has now had to make FOUR separate trips to fix a painting they originally damaged and incorrectly framed. Each time, instead of taking accountability or offering even the most basic apology, Kristen somehow found multiple different things to blame -- none of them being the store. We dropped the piece off for the FINAL time in December. December. We never received a call. Not once. After multiple attempts to reach the store by phone (which went unanswered or unreturned), we finally had to physically go today (in February) to see if the artwork was complete. And instead of even a simple, "We're so sorry for the inconvenience," we were met with callous, passive-aggressive energy and the most aggressively condescending tone I have ever encountered in a retail setting. No ownership. No apology. No professionalism. Just attitude. Shame on you, Kristen! I have genuinely never dealt with someone so unhelpful and unprofessional in all my years at any store anywhere. It was shocking. We will absolutely never bring another piece here again as long as she is employed. There are too many businesses that value their customers to waste time being treated like an inconvenience for expecting basic competence and courtesy. This is a good store as Michaels come - the one I grew up going to is tiny by comparison (as in a quarter of the size). When you enter on the left, you'll find paint supplies, followed by wood working, kids' crafts, yarn, fabric, and embroidery. In the center: framing (including a very cool workshop in the back where customs are made), home decor, and supplies for DIY projects like Cricut and blank cups. Florals on the right along with party supplies and most seasonal stuff is kept in the middle. I decided to stop in to this Michaels location to check out how the yarn and new fabric cutting station compared to the old Joann stores. It's what you might call a very modest selection, but hey, it's something. This store is well-organized and sections are clearly labeled overhead, which makes searching for whatever you need easy. Annette at the front was friendly and helped me get the 48-count box of watercolor pencils from their inventory and overall I had an enjoyable experience. I still miss the Joanns as more of a textile crafter (crochet, cross stitch) myself, but it's important creative folks keep these stores going! read more

I was passing by and decided to stop by for the sale they were having particularly on the: Bella Canvas shirts BOGO 50% off --which was a great deal, imo! When I went to one of the self-checkouts I had issue with scanning one of my coupons from email and Suzanna was more than happy to help! Suzanna seemed throughly happy with her job as she greeted customers and provided assistance one by one to each of us. I was really impressed with Suzanna's customer service, her pleasant upbeat attitude and her willingness to go the extra mile -- she didn't rush providing help and gave the appropriate amount of time -- I'd say that's a way to make a customer feel valued! 9/10/24 I was on a MISSION! Need envelope templates! For my hobby, card crafting, I was making envelopes the old fashioned way, by hand without implements, with the exception of a pair of scissors & a pencil. After visiting my creative cousin, she showed me her envelope templates && how much easier would it be to make them this way, faster too! The one I found at this Michaels location has 6 sizes by Recollections. I went to the Michaels in Lakewood & the Hobby Lobby next to it. After finding this item. I didn't care about anything else because the search was finally over. I still can't find my embosser though by Sizzix. This Michaels store is in the Long Beach town Center, surrounded by multiple stores (Walmart, Lowe's, Total Wine, Old Navy) & food places (In n Out, Carls Jr. Del Taco. Islands) and of course the movie theater, Edward's. Parking can be a little hairy at busy hours. I like the layout here, it look organized & neat. read more

Michaels is not far from bankruptcy and I understand why. I bought two spools of ribbon for my classroom. I saw that one was too wide, and the other was two sparkly. They were exactly the same. I saw nothing on the receipt or anywhere that they were discounted or final clearance. The one that was marked they let me other same exact ribbon and they said it was final sale because it has Christmas on it. Nowhere on the receipt or the order.... And I bought it in January 4 (for Valentines) I will never shop there again because Amazon will give you it back and makes it very clear what their policy is. cannot compete anymore and is so desperate to retain money that they're doing some shady practices read more

This review is specifically about worker there named Alina she has a very bad attitude not very customer friendly. I had a coupon for 40% off. I asked her why I wasn't showing up and she just shrugged her shoulders and looked to the sides as if she was waiting for me to pay without trying to figure out why the 40% wasn't applying after a few long seconds I said to her. I asked you a question and she looked lost. I asked you why my 40% wasn't showing up and she didn't reply and I asked her are you OK and she replied are you? and I said can you try to find out why it's not showing up? even before I got up to the register, she already seemed irritated and kept telling me that I had questions on the keypad and it wasn't in a nice tone either I have a feeling she's a seasonal worker but if this is now, I can only imagine how she's gonna be in the holidays. It took allot for me not to go off I was with my daughters and I told them when they get a job they better not be that way with customers. I did bring it up to the supervisor there, but I don't think she will do anything she just said she's talk to her but it wasn't very convincing but who knows. I've heard plenty of things about how horrible the service at this Michael's in particular is. However, I didn't too much to be wrong with it. Besides it being hard to find an employee anywhere but the check out, not even at the help desk, it's not like they were rude to me while checking out. I always come here for my jewelry making, especially for the glass beads when I'm making bracelets. The prices are kind of expensive too. I enjoy stepping into Micheal's knowing there is a sale going on. I will definitely come here again for the beads, but I'm sure there are definitely cheaper places to get my crafts. read more

Been a loyal customer for years but now I'm disappointed and not shopping there anymore. Just got told I couldn't return a frame because it was too damaged when it was packaged poorly and damaged when I was unpacking it due to staples that were too big and got stuck in the frame. They also put stickers on the frame too that had adhesive that wouldn't come off. I wasted $40 on a poorly packaged product and was essentially told I couldn't return it. This is the first time i ever write a review, but this Michael's deservers one. Went in for a t-shirt and at the register the girl who attended me was on her phone the entire time, literally. She never mentioned my total or when to insert my card. I wanted my receipt emailed and because she was on her phone not paying attention she printed instead. She proceeded to throw the receipt on the counter and that is how she finalized the transaction. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. this made me not want to go to a Michaels ever again. read more

I ordered online the night before and was ready around 12pm for pick up. In the email it states to call their number and they come out to deliver to you. When we got there, not many people waiting but their phone number wasn't working, so we weren't sure what to do. We went up to the screen & knocked on the door, and the lady was really nice & took our number for our order. They are very efficient, multiple people coming in & out delivering orders & they even put it in your trunk, so make sure it's clean(; Maybe just fix the number that we call, because there's no way to get to them unless face to face, which I feel like defeats the purpose of online lol my favorite michaels! read more

My wife and I waited for half an hour to just for spray paint. Reached out to an associate 10 minutes with us being at the store. Even hit the red button for assistance and still no one came. Saw a gentleman walk in and asked for his help. Found out that the workers didnt even have their walkies. To the person who told me that you will be with me shortly, you made me wait 20 minutes and you didnt even show up. It did not take 2 minutes for your colleague to open the cage where the paints were. Next time you say you will help a customer make sure you follow through. read more

I really don't understand how this place even has 2 1/2 stars. Customer service is non existent here. I walked around the store looking for an associate to help me, and unsurprisingly, not an employee in sight. When I finally gave up looking and decided to pay for the items i wanted, the sale associate working the cashier was more than annoyed she had to check me out. I had an unpleasant experience and thought I'd leave a review in case anyone is unaware of their order pickup changes. I wasn't aware they no longer do drive up and waiting 40 minutes in my car for someone to bring me my order. I was having some stomach pains and it hurt to get up, but since I've used their drive up system plenty of times, I expected this trip to be no different. After waiting 40 minutes and with no one answering the phones (they are understaffed and I know they are busy, I've worked retail and know how it gets) I decided to walk in. I waited in another long line just to be told my order was waiting in bins by the front door. I have never seen this before and don't believe this change was anywhere in writing on their windows or through e-mail communications. Adapting to this new change I just went over to the bins. I'm frustrated at this point but I'm not taking it out on the workers, I know it's not their fault and do not make these changes. However, when I went to the bins I couldn't find my last name. Now I'm very upset and I'm pain from having to even walk inside and standing for so long. I go back to the employee with purple, pixie cut hair and they look me up in the system. They see I've been waiting FOREVER and says sorry, then goes to the bins an IMMEDIATELY finds my order. It was filed incorrectly! So although I'm frustrated I'm wondering what letter it was under, because it wasn't under my last name. But I'm not at all trying to blame them. So I ask "was it not under 'U' ?" And they immediately get defensive and say "I didn't pack it." Well, that's not what I asked. I want to know what it was filed under so if I do pick up again, I can possibly know how the names are filed. Before I could explain what I meant, the employee walks off and I'm even more frustrated than I'd been the whole hour I wasted at this location. Very rude and not at all understanding of my confusion! I know it's not their fault, but they knew I was new to the system and didn't take a moment to quickly explain it to me even when I asked. I felt brushed off despite having been given the runaround for so long. Like I said, not their fault about the system change...but I feel customer service could have been better. I do feel bad for retail workers during these time, but an experience like this just left me feeling weird and as if my frustration was annoying them. I was simply trying to understand the change. Disorganized. Cluttered. No order whatsoever to this store. There are sale signs half dangling from the racks. And the sales don't really seem like sales (whereas at the Michaels I usually go to, they are evident.) I came here looking for a case for an autographed jersey. They had three cases, which you would assume would be right next to each other, but no, that wasn't the case. All three sizes scattered throughout an aisle. I'm not much of a DIY person, but occasionally feel crafty. Things were so scattered here that I wouldn't know where to begin if I wanted to start a project.
