Called several locksmiths and priced their service for lock install and tumbler change. Had business with Michaels Keying all doors several years ago. No problems with door hardware. Not happy that their on site fee wad $95 not including any work. Service call only. Much cheaper 4yrs ago. Here is why I selected Michaels to complete the work: The other services are cheaper by $20 but I had other locksmiths do work but not at the level of quality and guarantee as Michaels. 'You get what you pay for' is not a myth. They sent a young man that walked in 20mins after I called and completed the job in less than 15mins! Came on Thxgvg Eve. Done. Gone. WOW! Amazed! I've used various Michael's Keys in the area, but this is my favorite. Keep in mind this is for walk-in service only, as I've never called them to do work, but they have a large fleet of vehicles, so I would trust them in this regard too. My walk-in experience at this location has been stellar. It's seems I'm always needing a key made for a lock ... A lock with no key mind you. This store's smaller size, and odder location, means the turnaround time is pretty good. If you live in or around downtown Fort Worth, this is a convenient location, and perhaps a better choice than trucking off to one of the larger all-purpose hardware stores. read more

You always take your car keys for granted, but when you lose them, life stops. Thankfully Michael's has your back and can come to you and have new keys made. I called and dealt with a nice lady over the phone who gave me a very fair, honest fee quote, and then a locksmith arrived at my house 30 minutes later. I couldn't have had a better experience, except of course if my old 2000 Ford Expo would have cooperated quicker. It took a few tries, but Dave was a trooper, sticking it out in the 38 degree weather an hour past quittin time. He even kept his sense of humor throughout my cars stubbornness. All in all, my experience was 5 star: A very affordable price in comparison to other locksmiths I called, especially in comparison to taking it to the dealership; an enjoyable experience with Dave, a highly knowledgeable locksmith who's been in the business for 35 years; and of course, my new car key that is epic in itself (neon green, because the black ones weren't cooperating with my old and busted Expo), plus you get two. I was extremely disappointed in my (lack of) service from Michael's. There was a miscommunication, on the side of the company, that resulted in a scheduling inconvenience for me. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal, but the man I spoke to on the phone chose to argue with me and tell me "no one would say that" regarding what was told to me. He refused to make any sort of amends for the miscommunication, but more importantly, he was rude and condescending. No thanks. read more
