The staff there are friendly and nice. However, they are constantly short of goods. So there are some room for improvement on inventory

This past weekend marked the grand opening of this brand new Joann Fabrics location in Hamilton,…read morejust down the road from Bridgewater Falls. They really did it up for the grand opening. The place was decked out..they had some fun stuff for kids to do too like a guy making balloon animals and a coloring station. The place was pretty packed and there was a fun energy in the store. This location took over the spot that was previously held by Office Max..and let me tell you..it's a big improvement. That poor Office Max always seemed so..depressing. I remember wandering in there on a random Black Friday a couple years ago..oh man..so drab and depressing. JoAnn Fabrics for sure has a much better vibe. I'm not necessarily much of a "crafty" kind of person..but every time I go into a store like this it sooo makes me want to start some random craft project. I never do..but I want to..ha..maybe some day. Anywho, there were a lot of employees working and they did a great job handling the big crowd. Everybody was nice and welcoming as well. So yeah, I would have to say, a very solid location overall and a definite great addtion to this shopping area.

About the norm. If…read moreyou've ever been to a Michaels before, or better yet if you've ever been to multiple Michaels before, you'll find that they're all about the same. On the positive side, they have a great framing department, and everything you can think of when it comes to crafting and DIY hobbying. They also have a lot of fun and different baking items and molds to work with for holidays or parties. On the downside though, understaffed. Almost always. Even at their busiest times, which is usually the Christmas holiday season, always understaffed. At times, I've waited in line for up to 25 to 30 minutes to check out. You have a store full of people, you have six to eight registers, and you have two registers open with a line of 20 people deep. Would I go back? Yes, I would. And I will go back. Michael's is its own thing. I'm not saying there aren't other craft or hobby stores like it, but Michael's has what I need. Unfortunately though, I dread having to go there. At least during times when I know it's going to be busy. Here's a tip: If you're going to go to Michaels, make it during a weekday or non-peak time like a weekend or during the holiday season.

I pick stuff up from here for my nieces and nephews to keep them occupied with something other than tv! They always have good deals on canvas and other painting needs (good for me!) Definitely a better choice than your expensive art store. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have all craft needs - TONS of stickers. I'm definitely a fan :-)

I've even seen them find coupons for customers who haven't brought any themselves! The loss of 1 star is for the occasional register or cut table back-up. Only 1 star lost because it's 50/50 store/customer (not enough registers/ coupons not ready, indecision in cuts or what to do if there isn't enough fabric on the bolt). If you're in a hurry, it's a toss up if you'll get out in the time you planned.

When I got into the store, I was pleased to see that not many people were out and about. I was able to grab what I needed and get out of there quickly. I did need help finding specific material, and one of the workers took time to help me. Every employee I encountered was very friendly, despite the circumstances. They were there to help and wanted to help me find all that I was looking for. I had no idea how much home decor this store had! If we were not in the middle of a virus, I would have stayed around and looked through all the spring decor. They had some really great things! I am making a mental note to remember this once quarantine is over. I also appreciated the sale on the items needed to sew masks. I had looked into this store, as they were putting together mask kits for people to help sew masks for those employees in need. I really appreciate the store doing their part to help during this time of need. It was certainly a nice gesture!

We did look around a bit and they have a decent variety of craft items. I was hoping to talk to an employee to maybe find an alternative item(s) but the store was very busy and both employees had long lines. I tried for almost 2 hours to call the Evendale, Ohio store, which had it, and got a busy signal the entire time. I understand they only have 2 people working per store now, but surely there is someone carrying a store phone with them. Anyway, then I finally got thru to a ring tone. It rang off the hook....no one answered. I needed this specific upolstery fabric (didn't have enough when I bought it the first time) and I needed it for today. When I got there at 6:30, the doors were locked with a note stating they closed for maintenance! I have tried this morning at 10:05 to call them, but the phone just rings. What poor service on the management side of this. Bottom line......I still don't have the needed fabric.

I told her I was sorry and just needed to grab the frame I set in the corner...she then told me "no- you need to stop shopping we're trying to leave." I told her she didn't need to be rude I was finished and headed their way... "I'm not being rude we're literally locking the doors." Highlights included the Cincinnati skyline featuring "first in Ohio" (this Bricks & Minifigs was the first one in the state) and an Ohio-shaped wall display in the colors/design of the state flag. They had a nice selection of new and used kits and accessories (stands for completed kits, lights, etc). They also have a bulk brick area with different sized bags/containers to select from, and a make your own custom minifig area with an assortment of pieces from which to choose. The party room at this location is a really nice size; looks like it would be a great place for a party. This is located in a small shopping center with a good sized parking lot.

Posted on Facebook 1-20-2025:…read more The store is nice and looks well stocked and clean, but I had a bad experience with one of the workers. I went to the store with a box of loose pieces thinking they were Lego before the prominent design they use today, and wondering if they have a recycling program at least. An Indian guy, who is a worker there, greeted me and asked what I was looking for and told him my quandary and looked at my bricks. He decided to just scan it with his phone and use a Google app and tell they aren't Lego. I was shocked about it as I thought they were and showed me even the firefighter figures were from the 90s, and I saw the date on them and they were made in 1998. So, I asked what they were and he said he has no idea. I thought he would look more into it but chose to simply say they aren't Lego. So I said thank you and proceeded to walk out, as it's clear I'm not getting any help from this, but then the Indian guy preceded to walk towards me behind the counter thinking we're not done. I thought we were, but he seem to be pressing me about the bricks. Asking me what I was there for or do research too, even though I can do that on my own time but the guy is acting a bit rude. I only came here to the store to look at Bionicle stuff, and the loose bricks was another objective to coming here. I imagine the other staff members are nice, but that guy just rubbed me the wrong way. If you have any big lego questions at all, don't look to this place. Treat it as a regular store to buy lego. As of 4-30-2026: I revisited this place again, a lady treated me nicely at the front and the inventory is great but I think I'm seeing the same guy as before the last time I was there. Might be a manager or a senior worker. He appeared standoffish and is in the back of the place behind the same glass display as before, right across the build-a-minifig table where there is a rule about not messing with the torso arms (weirdly specific), so not really interested in making one if he is gonna keep leering at people. I do like I can get individual pieces and clothing, and there are a lot of minifigs, but honestly I feel put off by this location by that one experience I had of that associate. What makes this a bit irksome to me is that someone managing the social media of these locations seem to have gotten rid of the facebook group page of this specific location and my review I made of this place has been made to a regular post. So I feel the store is getting some criticism, and they seem to be hiding it. Anyway, I rather just go to Dayton Brick Shop, they have a west Chester location I like and the people have been informative at times and very nice (Also their pick-a-brick and create-a-minifig tables are bigger). But, the place does get a lot of customers, so it makes good money. I know there are good people working there, just that one guy really soured things for me. Be weary of who you talk to there.
