This is the first Michaels I been to that was well stocked and very clean. Staff seemed friendly and helpful. A shock to find out that you can hold birthday parties here. There is a little private room when you first walk in. The kids do arts and crafts to take home. Great alternative than a dirty play / game facility. The only kids are the ones invited to the party and no interruptions. The facility is clean and organized for the kids. read more

I felt very profiled during my latest experience shopping here and it was not pleasant. It was very weird to me that the employees at the front rushed to the self checkout to scan my items for me, but let other customers behind me do their own self checkout. There was other employees standing at the front near the registers just watching. This is one of few times I've shopped without "getting ready" first or grabbing a basket since it was just a short trip. Went here to have some things, it was great. The framing staff was awesome!! Patrick could not have been more helpful, and Liam was helpful as well. My only complaint is, that while I was receiving excellent customer service from Patrick another employee, ( didn't get his name),come up to him and started talking about the deposits and procedures, in my eye this is UN PROFESSIONAL !! Although they didn't have what I was looking for (merengue powder) we interacted with a good amount of staff members who were all so very helpful and friendly! It made our visit very positive even though we didn't find the main item we were searching for. I did, however, find another item I needed and it was on mega clearance and wasn't marked so that was a like a festivis miracle! And the cashier was super nice and helped me find a coupon...cause silly me forgot to look for one before I went in. I called Michaels to check the status of a UPS delivery and was put on hold while the clerk researched. I waited on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up. The next day I went to the store to pick up my package and was told that a Manager took the keys to the UPS boxes home and I would have to come back tomorrow and see if the keys are back at the store. This store needs to upgrade their employee training and provide better customer service. read more

I am very disappointed in Gig Harbor Michael's, yesterday I tried to order something online using a 40% off online coupon which expired that day. Everything I was ordering said it was in stock, but I could not make the purchase. it was popping up that there was changes in my cart and to go back and look at my cart, when I looked at, I could not see anything that was wrong or had been changed. I called the customer care line they couldn't figure out why it was doing that as well. I finally called the store directly and was about ready to leave to go to the store to make the purchase, but wanted to know since this was an online coupon and there had seem to be a glitch in their system if they could help me with that. The lady that answered the phone said she could not do that and could not even override it. She seemed too busy to even want to deal with me. She also said to me that it must be working because she has tons of online orders to fill, which I was led to feel like she thought I didn't know what I was doing, and it was my fault that it wasn't working or lying to her. She said that if it was given me that error, they probably didn't have the items in stock, if that is the truth and why the heck does it show it was in stock. Also, she ignored me and started talking to someone else obviously customer service is not her strong point whatsoever. Obviously I hung up because she didn't care to even try to help me. I called and asked if they offered dry mounting and if they had the materials in stock. They said yes so I made the long drive from Port Orchard. When I got there, they said it would take a week and they would call me. A week went by and I heard nothing. So I waited a few extra days and called and they told me the job hadn't started yet because they were waiting on materials. So they didn't have what they needed even though they said they did. I agreed to wait yet another week. Was promised a call when finished. 8 days went by - no call - so I called them and they said my job was done. Drove all the way over there and after 20 minutes of messing around they came out and told me the job hadn't even started yet. So I wasted gas on the drive over twice for nothing. I got my money back and took my art somewhere else. Buyer beware. Nobody that worked there seemed to have a clue about what they were doing. read more

Customer service and general operations need an overhaul. Decided to order online and pick up at the store so I didn't have to go in. When I arrived, they brought out a frame that was marked up. A black frame with noticeable white scratches. So I had to go in the store to deal with it. Today I had to return the frame as the glass was cracked. Not complaining about the crack. That happens. But I spent 10 minutes at the register as they could not figure out a way to give me a refund that matched what I spent, and I had the receipt. Cashier said that when you order online for pick up it's a different process and this always happens. So he got it down to the point where I was only losing 4 cents. Just ridiculous. I then wanted to buy another frame with my Rewards balance. He couldn't figure that out either or wasn't listening to me. And I think this guy may have been the Manager! This has nothing to with Covid. Just a poorly run store and operation. read more

This is a brand-new location and it shows. The store is open and bright, with widows high on the walls on a few sides, letting in plenty of natural light. The aisles are open, and there is space to get around. Anyone who has been to an older location will understand when I say that is a complete 180 from the cramped, dark, cluttered stores of old. I have avoided Michaels for years because of the unpleasantness of shopping there, but this store has changed my mind. I hope this store is an indication for a new Michaels, and isn't just a one-off. read more

Unfriendly cashiers, rude management and anytime you ask a question it gets unanswered because no one knows the answer. One good example is I asked a sales associate how the cricket worked and she said " I don't know anything about it." You say thank you for getting such and such opened and they don't say a word. They all act like they hate it there. I only go in an emergency and only with a coupon. Joanne's has better coupons and you can use them there too. read more

I always receive great service, love this store! They go out of their way to locate items for me. I receive coupons on my phone that differ from the weekly in store coupons that the cashiers are privy to . I just show them my coupon , it's never a problem, and more often than not, they give me discounts and show me coupons that I was not aware of......saving me even more! read more

The selection is okay but the service is awful. There are never enough clerks at check out. The clerks working checkout are unaware of current sales and specials that results in the lines moving even slower. This location would benefit greatly from self checkout lines. Michaels has framed several black and white prints for me. One they damaged, however went above and beyond to refund me my money. In the process they have reenforced why I patronized them in the first place. I've already spent a good portion of my refund on new frames and supplies. read more
