Sure Michaels is a typical arts and crafts store but I really appreciate the Kids Club - it's AMAZING!!! Be sure to check online for the upcoming sessions and to sign up. Most events are less than $5, some are FREE!!! So sign up, bring the kiddos in, complete the craft, and the amazing Michaels team with clean up the mess. I needed to put a better backing on my frame and didn't know how to do it on my own. Darren in the Custom Framing Department of Michaels in Avon, OH was extremely helpful; he fixed my frame, rewired it and put rubber dots on the back so it rested gently against the wall, preventing damage. Not sure why they bother employing anyone. You walk in and nobody really cares to help you if you have a question. The older lady who works in the framing area is not friendly and seems to want to be anywhere but at work. It's a craft store, their prices are higher than Pat Catans, with Pat Catans closed, I hope Michael's prices come down. They have a fabulous jewelry and bead department with great deals and sales and I enjoy their Kid's Club... everything else is just like JoAnn's, minus the fabric. The staff is always helpful, but the staff can be tough to find. The staff there never seem stressed or overwhelmed, so once I locate one... they are so helpful. They have stocked shelves, even for sales. I gave a 3 star because many of their materials are more expensive than their competitors. read more

Like Joann Fabrics, I go to Michaels for my scrapbooking accessories. Usually I find good deals on stickers here and that is pretty much it...Sometimes paper but not much else. I like their coupons in the Sunday paper. I don't usually go in for anything specific, just to browse. But I would drop by other craft stores first. read more

Absolutely horrible. Store seems spacious but when you go in it seems tiny. Temp of the store was far too warm and I couldn't wait to get out of there. Prices are absurd. Selection of yarn is poor and I didn't find any looms made of wood (their the best quality) just beginner plastic ones. Store just seems like some departments are too small and they try to cram things into tiny places. Very poorly thought out. On top of it there were only 3 employees that I could see and I had to search to find someone to help me. Example of how horrible their prices are: Cotton yarn I get at Walmart for $1.97? They charge $3.99. There's a pat catan's that's much nicer nearby as well as joann's avoid this store. read more

We were waiting in line for a good 10 minutes, and as soon as we reach the register, the cashier informs us that this is a credit only line (we had cash in hand), and that she couldn't take us! There were NO signs posted anywhere to indicate a 'credit only' line! No other cashier seemed all too eager to exercise some proper customer service and immediately take us! Typical craft store. Yarn selection could be better. They dole out nice coupons, but good luck with the cruddy staff applying them properly. Horrible. I go there to pick up a few items, and the lady at the register said I couldn't use it for sales items. She said this without scanning the coupon. Baffled, I put down another item because of this. Then, I realized that actually, she was wrong, and that the coupon was actually applicable. The lady at the register was very rude the whole time. She even packed the item that I didn't want, instead of the item that I wanted! I call the manager to confirm. The manager agrees that there should be no issues using the coupon. They scan the coupon, low and behold, the coupon works. I get an apology from the supervisor. I won't be shopping there anymore. The end. read more

I'm a Magnolia junkie and albeit don't like fake flowers, but..... I found some very large lovely magnolias in what was more like paper vs. silk. I purchased 6 and after doing my crafty work I needed more so ran back up to the store a few days later needed SIX more and ONLY ONE in store... what?? I asked the women at the desk for help and she said I could check back on Wednesdays or I could go on line. I explained I went on line and could not find any specific flowers, "do I need to do a search with the SKU I asked"? She said she didn't know anything about on line and was growing agitated with my desperation for these paper flowers. I thought she was there to help customers? The manager Josh showed up and I asked him about on line ordering. He scanned the SKU on the one that was left in the store and said, "you can get them online by entering the SKU (which he wrote down for me then he scanned the last single flower) I see there are some in Mayfield and I can pick them up for you and bring them here as I live not too far from there"! GREAT! Thank you so much for knowing your job and most of all offering to do the leg work as on line you had to order 12 minimum and I only needed an additional 4 to 6 flowers. He really gave the customer service that was lacking before he happened to appear at the desk. He knew his job and was just overall a nice guy. I called today and yep, he got them and they are at the store! WHOOPIE.... if you are at the store and happen to encounter a lackluster worker... ASK FOR JOSH! read more
