Fantastic experience on Tuesday September 15th with Dr Sagar Rambhia, a UCLA-trained…read moreophthalmologist, who specializes in cataracts, glaucoma, and dry eye... I had cataract surgery in my left eye. Cataracts are an incredible phenomenon... the symptoms vary greatly, so, when my left eye went from 20/20 to being able to read up close overnight I thought it was fascinating. And then, ofc, I went down the rabbit hole of "oh no what if I have a brain tumor!"( yes, I was gloominating to the max)!!!! I immediately got an appointment here to check out what was going on. The optometrist told me that yes my cataract was definitely changing and that probably I would need a new lens put in the back of my eye within six months to a year, but that I would be able to decide if I became uncomfortable to have it done sooner. So, the SOONER CAME BEFORE LATER. This boutique is beyond fabulous! The staff are amazing especially Lisa and Stephanie... and I won't mention another well-known facility BUT, unlike that one, they don't make you wait hours to be seen when you have an 8 o'clock appointment and are not seen until well after 10 AM... Just sayin"... Dr Rambhia has a wonderful bedside manner, upbeat personality, brilliant skills and all the people in the surgery room were wonderful and I can't say enough nice things about the wonderful experience I had!! And now I am seeing so clearly, pain-free and so happy with my decision. There are protective restrictions that are in the folder I received after my initial appointment ... it explains in great detail everything a patient needs to know, healing drop dosages and clear instructions! I highly recommend this option for cataract surgery and my results ARE PHENOMENAL! I am so grateful to everyone who works here! A huge shoutout for sure!

Poor patient care experience and disregard for my time. I requested a medical form to be completed,…read moreand after noticing two sections were incomplete, I called and was told by the doctor that those sections could be filled out. I drove to the office to drop off the form, only to later be told by Dr. Moarefri that a $150 fee would apply. I would have understand and respected the fee for the later, more comprehensive requests, but I was specifically told these two sections could be completed. Instead, I made an unnecessary trip based on information that was not honored. Additionally, filling out the form would've been more straightforward & less time-consuming if my medical notes were thorough to begin with. The two receptionists were not necessarily rude, but I found their responses dismissive. My medical record only stated "mild condition X," and my files contained retina photos without written interpretations. Yesterday, when I explained that I needed more information for the form, the receptionist starting with the letter M said, "Well, that's just how doctors write notes," while another said on the phone today, "It's not incomplete; the pictures are there for other doctors to interpret." These responses felt dismissive of my concern. As a patient, I should be able to understand what my medical records and images show rather than be left without an explanation of my own condition. The interpretation of my own medical images are not just exclusive to other doctors. I previously left a positive review because I had a good experience with the eye evaluation. Was it thorough? Yes. Was the patient support equally good? Unfortunately, I can't say so. I also discussed LASIK candidacy with Dr. Moarefri, and I felt my concerns were somewhat dismissed. My myopia had increased by more than 2 diopters over six years as an adult, and when I expressed concern, I was told, "That's not a big increase." I was also encouraged to proceed with LASIK without what I felt was a balanced discussion of both the benefits and risks. As a doctor, he should be aware that lasik should only be recommended once the vision has stabilized. I believe patients deserve a realistic discussion of both the potential benefits and complications. A 99% success rate doesn't mean there is zero long-term risk. You can be fine for many years but develop sight-threatening complications (such as ectasia) down the line. You just never know. For me, that uncertainty was a risk I wasn't willing to take. This is why it's important to thoroughly research and listen to different perspectives before proceeding rather than solely relying on the judgement of one doctor -- especially when they make it sound like it's all sunshine and rainbows. Other lasik doctor I consulted with was honest enough to recommend surgery once my myopia stopped progressing. This experience made me realize how important it is to find a doctor who genuinely prioritizes informed decision-making and the patient's long-term well-being rather than simply promoting a procedure. LASIK may be a good option for some people, but patients should be given the full picture and enough information to make that decision for themselves.

I was reluctant to undergo a procedure on the eyes, and although I knew how safe it was, I couldn't help but worry. Furthermore, upon consultation it turned out I required two different procedures: a LASIK on one eye and a PRK on the other. It doesn't happen often, but Dr. Christian delighted me with his bedside manner and, at the same time, gave me confidence in his expertise and ability to perform the surgery right, which definitely balanced out my anxiety about the surgery. The office staff was helpful guiding and preparing me for the procedure and I want to send them a special "thank you". Now, 4 weeks post-surgery I have no regrets and I am infinitely grateful to Dr. Christian for fixing my sight and making the whole process seamless and worry-free.

However, when I visited the office for the treatment after wasting about two hours of my time and resources for procedural, the doctor came in & told me that they don't accept Medicare insurance & by falsely claiming that UCLA does it by hand for such a sensitive part of the body by students and they bill Medicare. Through these lies & deceits, they hurt the reputation of other establishments Such as the UCLA. for their own profit. The doctor said it would cost me $6000/ per eye a total of $12,000. upon getting home, I called the office and told the lady in charge....... that it was a total waste of time & resources. , she said no out-of-pocket cost for you. The receptionist, Veronica Chavez, was unnecessarily rude and antagonizing during check-in. I was asked for my insurance card, and I explained that it is the same insurance already on file since last year and that I have not yet received a new card. This is common in early January. Despite clearly stating that I did not have the card, the same question was repeated. At that point, the receptionist raised her voice and said, "I'm not questioning your insurance. I'm just asking if you have your insurance card," even though I had already answered that I did not. I again explained that it is early January and that many insurance companies have not yet issued new cards. Instead of clarifying what was needed, the receptionist continued to antagonize the situation and then told me that I "needed to be respectful," even though her own tone and behavior were rude and dismissive. The exchange became uncomfortable and occurred in front of other patients in the waiting area. This is not the first time I have had a negative experience at the front desk. It is disappointing because the quality of care from the physician is excellent, but repeated unprofessional interactions at check-in detract significantly from the overall experience. I hope this feedback is addressed so patients are treated with basic patience and courtesy.
