When it was pointed it out, the receptionist was rude, admitted the mistake, and brushed it off saying they "needed to fix it." This place knowingly misleads customers and doesn't seem to care. Two friends highly recommended Dr Tereo's practice, and I was nearby and walked in at about 12:52. They close at 1. Now I get I may be wrong. If it were a manicurist, I don't suppose I'd expect to be served 8 minutes before closing. But this is a Dr's office. And I was in obvious pain. And they were open. About 5 years ago I was involved in a car accident and as a result had a lot of back pain for some time. Once I started going to Dr. Tereo for treatment my pain started to go away until not experiencing any back pain at all. I had never been to visit a chiropractor before, I was in a car accident and visiting a chiropractor was suggested. Being a lifelong resident of Newark, I thought I'd give Dr. Tereo a try. Bad first time experience. I stopped going after 2 or 3 visits. The Dr. probably knows his stuff (reason for 2 stars), but I did not stick around long enough to find out. He was pushy with the vitamin supplements the office promotes, and he made me feel really uncomfortable with the way he adjusted my back. This is a facility that uses electrodes as part of your treatment, and the Dr. suggests you remove your bra for this part of the therapy. One of the assistants even told me "I don't feel comfortable and it's ok if you just wear a sports bra". The last treatment and the reason I decided not to go back, was because Dr. Tereo referred to my breast as a "boobie". I'm not sure if he was offended because I was wearing a sports bra, but I felt super uncomfortable. read more

Done playing phone tag and appointment roulette with this office. I've had so many points of contact, and none of them served any purpose. I'm actually supposed to be at my appointment, but since I no longer have one due to excellent communication and scheduling (ha, jokes), I have time for a Yelp review. Made an initial appointment for a sports massage, the doctor was out of town for the week. That's fine, I go ahead schedule an appointment the following Monday. Come that following Monday, got to the office, only to find that 1. They'd booked me for a "new patient exam", 2. The massage therapist wasn't there, and 3. I had to reschedule. I was disappointed because I'd driven from Pleasanton straight after work, and I had explicitly said I had a chiropractor and a general physician... but whatever, mistakes happen. I get an appointment card from Fritzy (?). She also tells me insurance doesn't cover anything/the usual prices, which I'm aware of/more than down to pay for. Fast forward another week, I've gotten over 5 freaking calls for my one appointment today, NONE OF WHICH ARE INFORMATIVE, OR SERVE ANY PURPOSE. Honestly. it seemed like they were calling me to have me tell them about my appointment. On Saturday before my Monday appointment, I get 2 calls from DeNae (?). She left a message saying she had questions about my appointment and I call back, and it was just a confirmation...and she literally had one question, and if it was the length of my massage. I ask her specifically, do you have any more questions, because the number of calls I've been getting for this one appointment is excessive--please ask all of your questions now...nope just had one question. It's now Monday and I'm at work and get another two missed calls from the office. I call back and it's the front office calling to "confirm" my appointment...again? And to tell me that, oops, they had scheduled me for a different time...and that their massage therapist was no longer on the premises, but was "around". There seemed to be a "miscommunication" again. At this point I'm kind of like areyoufreakingkiddingme and ask if I should even come in at this point, and she says she'll call the massage therapist. I get a call while I'm on the way saying that "Unfortunately, she can't stay that late, do you want to reschedule for next Monday? Whoa. No. My back hurts but at this point I'm thinking it's more likely that a monsoon hit California than me actually getting an appointment/being seen by the ~elusive~ massage therapist. I give up--if anyone knows of a good massage therapist...lemme know! read more

This is the doc at Tereo chiropractic. He runs a real tight ship over there. You'll find his assistant, Aurora, to be especially efficient and friendly. Great staff. Great doctor. NO waiting, which is kind of a shame cause he actually has good magazines like maximum pc and time. Why do offices with the long wait times always have crappy magazines? Nevermind. If you have no questions, you'll be right out of there but if you do have a concern, he always takes the time to address them. He's got a soft voice so just be sure to listen up. Ive been going there for at least 6 months now. I haven't tried their massage therapy services. I have been coming to Dr. Tereo regularly for a year and a half now and i keep coming because my health has GREATLY improved under his care. I get regular adjustments and also nutrition counseling which has been a godsend! I see some complaints in the comments about timeliness, and sometimes the office is quite busy, but DR. T is worth the wait. I first came to him as a walk in, an emergency walk-in (my upper back and neck had seized), and I was not turned away. Now I'm a regular. I suspect that is why it can get busy. But Dr. T is extremely knowledgeable and his advice has always worked. read more

Man this practice has all 5 stars and I dont wanna be the jerk who takes that away from them. I injured my lower back during my usual Sunday squat workout. I was in pain and then I was in some more pain. So finally my parents, recommended me to this Doc and I came in... waited for about 45 min after my appt time, finally got diagnosed and then a treatment. Electro-massage, and spinal adjustments. Doc and his staff were polite and helpful etc. When you're in pain, you'll give anything a shot. And I did! Good lil gem located within 1mile of my house. Its in Raleys shopping center... cant miss it - the HUGE banner outside. One complaint: The electro-massages in the back rooms... CLOSE THE DOOR. The COLD chilly breezes are far from pleasant. I could go into a huge narrative about how skilled Dr. Tereo is but his work speaks for itself. I am a salon owner and I have been plagued with back and shoulder pain since before I opened my salon. I was referred by my cousin and at first I wasn't a believer that this could help me but I was desperate. Needless to say, here I am 5 years later and I'm still a faithful client of Yours Truly Dr. Tereo! He is amazing and does what he says he will do. I no longer have that aching pain in my shoulder and if a pain does arise I tell him and he goes to work on that specific spot and neutralizes my pain almost instantly. Amazing right?!?! I also had a Dr tell me I needed x rays and physical therapy for knee pain I had recently and Dr. TEREO adjusted it and I have been perfectly fine ever since. My shoulder was hurting 2 months ago to the point that I couldn't sleep on my side and couldn't lift my arm. I have this recurring problem from time to time and before I went to my regular massage therapist to fix it (i don't know if it's the right way or not). My MT would be able to release the knot and the pain would go away for a while. Now I couldn't find my MT anymore and have been trying to find her replacement. After countless trial and error and bad massages, the pain didn't go away if it's not worst. I decided that I better check with the professional. Dr. Tereo office is near my house and I was comforted with the 5 star review from Yelp. On my first visit, I didn't know what to expect since I'd never been to Chiropractor before. Dr. Tereo is very well spoken and patient, he walked me through what went on with my body (it turned out the pain in my shoulder was caused by the big knot in my neck). After going through some test, he also found a few problematic areas that caused the recurring problems/soreness. After 2 visits, I was able to move my arm freely and could sleep on any side at night. My shoulder is no longer hurting. Also, I usually have a severe menstrual cramp. After going a few times and got treatment in my abdominal area, for the first time this month, I didn't take any advil/painkiller to ease my menstrual cramp. I definitely feel the improvement. I also agree with what people recommended below that Dr. Tereo has friendly staff and it's definitely easy to make an appointment here. read more

Dr. Tereo is one of the best chiropractors! He fixed my shoulder and neck pain fast! He takes the time to listen about your aches and pains. You can tell right away that he puts his heart in his practice. He does his best to provide you with the best information on getting healthy. This was my first time visiting a chiropractor. I had a friend recommend me to this place. I messaged them over the weekend and I still managed to get in an appointment right away. I was having some back and knee pain. Dr. Tereo took his time explaining things to me and the procedures. He is also a nutritionist and suggested a few things that I might want to bring into awareness but he was also good about letting me know if I wanted to learn more or not in my next appointment which I appreciated. Appointments are a problem here. I showed up early for my 10am appointment and wasn't seen until after 11am. The doctor came in for a couple of minutes and then disappeared. It seemed that he was seeing other patients in between with little to no communication on what to expect. He seemed stressed and so did the staff but everyone was very kind. I just think they are overbooking time slots and wasting people's time by not being upfront. I didn't go through the diagnosis as I had to leave so can't comment on that. read more

I hate to be the negative review, but it looks like I'm it. Let me just say: This just isn't the chiropractor for me. If Dr. Tereo's work relieves your pain, by all means, don't stop visiting just because my experience there was poor. I've had really good chiropractors before, and my experience with only one visit to Dr. Tereo was enough for me to not return. That being said, he did relieve the pain in my neck that I was visiting him for. So why the two star review? Several reasons. -I went there for a pinched nerve pain in my neck on March 3, 2014. Dr. Tereo gave me a zinc taste test. I had no idea what to expect from it, and Dr. Tereo did not explain the test before he administered it. He did not explain that it should have a metallic taste if you're healthy, and taste like nothing if you were deficient. He just administered it and said "What does that taste like?" Other than some mild metallic taste it didn't taste like anything, so I said it didn't taste like anything. From this, Dr. Tereo declared me zinc deficient. I'm sure he sells supplements. But a June 2012 study by the National Institute of Health says of the zinc taste test's accuracy: "To date, there are no tests that are both sensitive and specific that accurately assess marginal zinc status in humans. The ZTT, albeit widely used, does not fill this void, and further research is needed." If this is the case, Dr. Tereo shouldn't be using the zinc taste test. Read the National Institute of Health report on the Zinc Taste Test here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22784341 -There is a floor-to-ceiling poster in one room showing the use and results of an ionic detox foot bath. Scientific studies have repeatedly shown these to be a complete hoax. An electrode corrodes, making the saltwater turn a dark color. Your feet have nothing to do with it. I can't trust a doctor that would push that hoax on clients. -Dr. Tereo administered a "MyoVision" scan along my spine; a scan of electrical activity in muscles, that is supposed to indicate muscular disease. However, scientific studies of MyoVision have shown that "there are insufficient data to support its utility for distinguishing between neuropathic and myopathic conditions or for the diagnosis of specific neuromuscular diseases." Also, when he did the lower adjustment, there was a chair nearby, and my knee whacked into the chair. I believe this was simply an unfortunate accident. It could have happened with any chiropractor, except that in my entire life it only happened that one time at Dr. Tereo's office. I got a large painful bruise on my knee as a result. It took a couple weeks to heal up. -Dr. Tereo performed the Atlas adjustment very quickly, unlike any other chiropractor has performed on me. He seemed like he was in a hurry, and had a lot of other patients in his office. He certainly stays busy. It was scary. -His office staff takes my insurance, but they offered to charge me their regular rate, which they said was basically the same rate as I'd pay with my insurance. I have the top tier Cigna full coverage insurance plan with my employer, and it was still going to cost the same as their regular rate. This seems fishy to me. At other chiropractors they take my insurance and I just pay a copay. I don't know why it costs more at Dr. Tereo's office. -Although they booked me for a follow-up Friday appointment, I discreetly called and cancelled it. After that I got a Saturday phone call, saying they were expecting me and that I didn't show up. I explained that I had no appointment for Saturday, and that I had cancelled my Friday appointment the day before. They continued to call a week later, and I explained that I *STILL* had no further scheduled appointments, and was not planning to ever return. With that they promised to make sure they didn't call me any more. I've received no more calls, but it was disturbing that they called me for days I had no appointment. Clearly their scheduling system is a bit wonky. Taken together, there were too many offered treatments that are known to be unsupported by evidence. The addition of a knee bruise, despite relieving my neck pain, is enough that I won't be returning. read more

It used to freak me out to think someone might be able to adjust my neck and possibly paralyze me or permanently put me in the Exorcist position, but Dr. Tereo knows what to do to loosen things up and not make that kind of thing happen. I have been going to Dr. Tereo on and off for years now. I first started getting adjustments after getting hit by a opening door in high school and knocking my neck and upper back out of alignment. After just a few visits and stretching tips from Dr. Tereo, I was able to regain normal motion in my neck again. It was a real life saver and made the roads safer since I was able to look over my shoulder again when changing lanes. I still return to see Dr. Tereo every now and then when I sleep wrong or have a rib out of alignment. I found out that the medical plan I am paying for at work covers Chiropractic care so I decided to use it (Why not, I'm paying for it). I first looked at the list of providers given to me and found that Dr. Tereo's office is not too far from where I lived. I was very intimidated by my first visit. The people in the waiting area looked like athletes and were fit, they all felt at home and knew the ladies at the reception table. I felt like the new found cousin at a family reunion, wanting to be a part of it all, yet felt extremely like an outsider. I was ushered into room 6 where I was told to put on a gown and to wait for the doctor. Dr. Tereo walks in, introduces himself and starts to examine me. He talked to me about my fitness goals and why Chiropractic care is a good place to start for preventative care. I was then taken to another area of the office where I received an upper and lower back electro "massage", I think I dozed off, it was that relaxing. After, I was seen by Dr. Tereo again and was adjusted. I honestly didn't think I was going to get adjusted then and there, I was freaked out after hearing my bones crack but quickly felt a sense of relaxation and was assured I was in good hands. I walked out of the Dr.'s office feeling great and armed with enough ammunition to tell my friends why seeing a chiropractor will help with their health. I saw Dr. Tereo again a couple of days after which started my series of visits to get my spine used to the adjustment. I plan on coming by every 2 weeks for an adjustment until all the visits afforded by my insurance runs out. I feel great, my back pain is almost gone and I have no trouble getting out of bed anymore. read more

Usually I am not one to write a bad review but, it seems like this is the case for this place. I actually used to go here quite a lot and it seemed great and friendly but, recently that doesnt seem like the case. I still like to get my treatment from here but, the new workers they hired just don't seem to be doing it for me. First of all, it seems like all the old staff I knew has left. It's only been a while since my last visit and I already can't recognize half the staff. The old staff always seemed professional and on top of things 24/7. If I ever had a problem or concern then they would attend to me immediately whether it be on phone or in person. They would always try to accommodate and treat me better than just a patient. Now with the new staff it doesn't seem like the same environment. The new girl working at the front desk always seems to be on her phone for the most part. It's understandable if it's a normal call or an emergency text but, texting at work is unacceptable. I don't see why he would hire someone who is spending half their time texting away then doing their job. There is a time and place for that but in a clinic it seems completely unprofessional of him to hire someone like that. On top of that, the new girl he hired with the blue streaks seems absolutely clueless. She might be new here but, if you ask her basic questions about the ultrasound or muscle stimulation then she has no idea what so ever. She can't properly tell me what's happening. During the ultrasound, she didn't fully circle my back but, kept rubbing over one area. It seems like she has never even done an ultrasound in her life or have had any experience. I miss having the old girl do my therapy for me. She was small in height and had brown skin, I think her name was Simerin. She was amazing and I loved having her around. I asked about her and found out she only works 2 days because of school. Anytime she would do my therapy she was completely competent in what she was doing. Whenever I had questions or any concerns regarding my treatment she was able to accommodate for me. If there wasn't a room available or if things were taking too long she would either offer me water or just talk to me so I don't feel as if I'm ignored. She would apologize about the wait and delays and she would take it as her responsibility to ensure the best customer service. It's sad that she can't work more shifts because she was one of the best workers there. The new girl he hired wasn't able to give me the proper treatment and answers to my questions. She needs to get re-trained immediately or he needs to find someone more competent of fulfilling the job. Secondly, the wait time is incredibly long. I remember when Dr. Tereo would quickly get patients moving along. I don't mind waiting at all and I understand he is a very busy man but, he seems all over the place now a days. I used to wait 5 to 10 minutes in a room to get my adjustment because there would be other patients infront of me but, now the wait time has increased by 15 minutes or so. It takes him so long to attend to a patient and honestly I can't wait over 25 minutes just to see him. I haven't planned my day around this appointment and I have other obligations as well. He needs to attend to his patients faster because after the 15 minute treatment, the wait to get a room can range from another 10 to 15 minutes. Once, I am in the room it takes him an additional 10 minutes just to see me. I understand he is busy and it can be hectic at times but, he needs to be more time efficient. He could at least come in and say sorry about the wait but, he doesnt even acknowledge that. In the end I spend 45 minutes for him and he can't even respect my other obligations. I have just become unsatisfied by this type of service and he needs to change things. He needs to be more time efficient and he needs to get better staff than the one he has recently hired. read more
