Misleading billing practices and poor communication…read more I had a very disappointing experience with Stone Dental Associates. I was quoted $400 at the time of service for a deep cleaning that I was told was necessary. I paid that amount in full before the appointment, assuming everything was settled. Weeks later, I received an unexpected $1,200 bill after my insurance determined the procedure wasn't necessary. I then had to request the office to dispute the charges, and after all of that, I still ended up being billed another $400 because they said one quadrant of my cleaning wasn't covered. At no point was it explained that the total cost could change so drastically or that I might be responsible for so much more after paying upfront. This experience felt misleading and frustrating, and I would caution anyone considering this office to make sure you get a clear, written estimate and confirmation of insurance coverage before agreeing to treatment.

During my recovery from surgery with another oral surgeon in the same practice (Dr. Cho...who's awesome too and did an amazing job with my surgery), Dr. Yates saw me for post-op concerns while Dr. Cho was out of town. In reviewing my chart, Dr. Yates validated the concerns I had raised from the beginning and gave me a greater understanding of what had truly been going on. Together with the assistance of Katie, a dentist herself, he addressed what hadn't been resolved and redid my temporary crown. The entire team was compassionate and Dr. Yates and Katie spent a great deal of time, went above and beyond the expectation, and the result was amazing!!! For the first time in a year, I felt hopeful again, I got my smile back, and have a clear plan moving forward. I was charged one amount and then my card they have you leave on file was ran again for a totally different amount weeks after I left. They then sent me a $741 bill for no reason. I only had two visits!! I didn't even get an initial Annual free cleaning that my insurance pays for!! I was told I needed to get a debridement first because my insurance wouldn't cover for the scaling I needed so I paid for that upfront and now they are saying the insurance wouldn't cover it. Which is it?!! Now this office is implying I have this outstanding balance over 60 days which in fact I contacted them on June 5th to cancel the $1600 appointment and asked for a detail bill and they are just getting back to me today!! Someone cannot count in that office!! Why would you charge for services that aren't covered? They could have told me this in the consultation. You can't charge me for something I didn't get done. You won't be in office long doing this to innocent people for no reason. I'm not One to be ripped off and I won't be ever again. I have great insurance and I don't even understand why this is going on. I will never go there again. Ever! This was one of the reasons I don't even bother going to the dentist in the south. She came highly recommended by family members and they were all absolutely correct as far as her skill, intelligence and professionalism. Connie, the hygienist, was thorough, kind, compassionate, professional and she sure knows how to get teeth clean. She made me feel safe and that's says a lot. This was my first visit and it definitely will not be my last.
