Stay AWAY!!! Unethical billing. The only medical office, where there is no one answers the phone, patient is only able to leave a voice mail and wait for a phone call back in 24 hours. We have an HMO plan, we had an authorization and they still billed the full amount for an initial visit, instead of copay only ( copay was paid at the time of an initial visit). Insurance was contacted, they said that the office billed incorrectly. Unable to get a phone call back from a biller or office manager, but the emails with a statement due date keep coming every 3 days. This week got them twice already. Still trying to resolve, they are super unprofessional and unethical. read more

He never let me finish a sentence. He kept interrupting me rather than listening to any of my concerns. Everything he told me, I had figured on my own prior to going. He made me feel inferior. He questioned why I would be stressed because obviously my job is not as stressful as his. In the end, I felt like going to his office was a big waste of time. Went to Dr. Madievsky because my stomach was bloated, distended, and I was in a tremendous amount of pain. Dr. Madievsky did a brief exam, approximately 5 minutes. He said that I probably just ate something bad and it was just gas that should go away in about a week. (Even though my stomach resembled a 6-month pregnant woman.) He said I should call in a week if I was still bloated. He did mention that if I wanted to I could get an ultrasound later that week. Thankfully I chose to get the ultrasound. His office called with the results and told me to get to the ER asap. The ultrasound showed that I had tumors.... I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. This experience has reinforced how important it is for us patients to be our own advocate. read more

It is with great concern that I write this review. I don't take this lightly. I think that reviews are inherently a matter of perspective and should be taken that way. That being said, I will share my perspective and what happened to me. My Primary Doctor referred me to Michael Madievsky, MD for a routine colonoscopy. I visited him for a brief visit to consult. He was very busy and spent really no more than 15 minutes with me. We agreed to proceed with scheduling a procedure in 2 weeks. I made the appointment with his staff (Irina) and was given the paper work (instructions) to prep for the procedure. The procedure was to happen at the Valley Endoscopy Center in Tarzana on 12/29/14 Monday Morning 8:45 AM. After prepping my colon as per the instructions on Saturday and Sunday. NOT FUN. I arrived at the facility at the appointed time. The elevators were not working in the building. There were no signs posted on the elevators. The Valley Endoscopy Center is located on the 5th floor. I had to leave the building with other older and less mobile patients trying to get to their appointments. We found a emergency staircase and proceeded up to the 5th floor. Ridiculous for a Medical building to run that way. Once I arrived at the Valley Endoscopy Center, I notified them that the elevators were not in service and they had no constructive response. I said that maybe they should call the building manager or building maintenance as this would be what I would do. They looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. I was speaking in English. Valley Endoscopy Center then proceeded to tell me that they did not have me on their procedure list. That they were booked solid for the day and were themselves confused as to why I was not on their list. Dr. Michael Madievsky, was there and he also had no answer as to why this had been an oversight. I showed him my paperwork given to me by his staff. He barely knew who I was. He basically told me that he might squeeze me in later that afternoon, though there was no Anesthesiologist scheduled either. Well lets just say my confidence in this whole escapade was now gone. I took all of this as a omen and decided to leave. I was told that by the way Valley Endoscopy Center does not validate for parking either. I never received any phone call or correspondence regarding this ordeal from Michael Madievsky, MD, or his office. What I did receive though, was a Medical bill for my initial consultation. $322.85 for 15 minutes. Less my insurance (Thank goodness) I'm only out of pocket $45.79. I have moved on to a better health care provider. read more

I went this office twice to try to schedule a colonoscopy. They try to push you to go to their private surgery center (out of pocket of course) and tell you their special center is "cleaner." If you refuse, they will only give you afternoon appointments at the hospital. In addition, they told me I would need additional anesthesia (once again out of pocket) to make me more comfortable. I'm not sure what kind of scam they are running here, but stay away! read more

With his treatment and advice I was able to pin-point the issue I was having with certain foodstuffs and am now healthy and can lead an active life. I truly wish that I could give this doctor negative stars. He was by far the worst doctor I have ever been too. To be clear, his staff was wonderful. The woman at the front desk was friendly, respectful, and I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with her. My 1 star is specifically related to my experience with the Doctor. He entered the room quickly (which I appreciated) and proceeded to ask questions regarding my issues. After interrupting me several times as I explained what was going on, he immediately told me that he did not want to run tests until he reads my labs but didn't have time to do so. Keep in mind, my labs were in his hands at this time. There was no reason he could not take 5-10 minutes to review this paperwork. Instead, he decided to tell me to do exactly what I have been doing the last three months but double the meds I take and come back in 1-2 months. I did not wait 3 weeks for an appointment for someone to tell me to do exactly what was not working for me. In addition, he was by far the most insulting doctor I have ever met. He decided it was appropriate at the time to recommend me looking into getting the gastric sleeve surgery to lose weight. In no way was this related to the issue I presented with as he mentioned no correlation between my presenting problem and my weight. With shock in his face he asked me my lowest weight and how I could have possibly gained weight back. I wish I could have recorded our appointment so that whoever is reading this could listen to the rude tone in his voice and see the rolling of his eyes when I mentioned I had recently hired a personal trainer but not a dietician. The conversation about my weight consumed at least half of my time with him, time that he could have used reviewing the pages of labs that I hand delivered him. He was arrogant, insulting, and not even slightly helpful. I hope that no one ever has the experience I had with him. All I can do is hope that someone who is looking for a new gastro can read this (and the reviews I will post on every other site) and search elsewhere. Someone on here mentioned that he had multiple reviews deleted that were negative and I ignored that. I wish I had listened and truly hope whoever is reading this does not make the same mistake I did. read more

Dr. Madievsky is a great gastro doctor and his knowledge is second to none! I was misdiagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome for about 2 years before I was recommended to Dr. Madievsky. He ran a whole number of tests and figured out that I was actually allergic to gluten and had Celiac disease. Its nearly 4 months since I switched my diet completely based upon his instructions and it has made a great difference. I have gained about 15lbs of good weight back on. I feel much healthier and my nose does not run during now during meals. Asides from medical and gastro, he is a totally nice guy and very easy to get along with. He is easy to schedule with and his overall practice gets an easy 5 stars. read more

I went in with lower abdominal pain and tenderness. I hadn't been able to eat anything. I was nauseous and in so much pain, I couldn't move, I was bloated, etc. He didn't even bother to have any tests done. Just pushed on certain areas of my stomach, which by the way left me in even worse pain. All he could say was he had no idea what it could be. I had to seek medical attention afterwards, turns out I was having a bout of diverticulitis! I ended up in the hospital! I had every symptom and he couldn't even diagnose what was clear as day, even after telling him everything I was experiencing. I would never recommend him to anyone and I for sure won't be going back. read more

I had complications following Laparoscopic Gallbladder Removal Surgery. I was in need of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatogram because I had few stones left floating around in my bile duct. When Dr Madievsky came to introduce himself and tell me about the procedure I freaked out and had a whole break down. It was not him, it was the fact that I was scared and not ready for a second surgery after my gallbladder removal. However when I came down we went through with the surgery and I can't be happier that I did it. Dr Madievsky made me feel comfortable and he was very professional. BEWARE OF THIS DOCTOR I came to this doctor to have an endoscopy recommended by another doctor for that procedure. There were previously half a dozen negative reviews on Yelp of this doctor that have been removed. When i visited the doctor's office they asked me to sign paperwork allowing them to bill my credit card without my approval. I would be surprised if this is legal. I did continue to get bills from them not mentioned at the initial consultation for several months. When the procedure was scheduled I started to suspect that something was wrong because the doctor's administrator would not confirm any details in writing when I requested information about the time of the procedure, what preparation I should make and what the approximate cost would be. The doctor had recommended a routine colon examination, but I elected to have this at a later date because of the cost and because I had recently had an abdomen cat scan. When I got to the hospital the papers they asked me to sign off on were for the colon biospsy and the endoscopy was not mentioned. The patient cost of this procedure was $5,000+ and possibly more than $10,000. The cost of the endoscopy was $600. Had I not carefully read the papers I would have likely been asked to pay $10,000 for an unnecessary procedure while the endoscopy that I needed to examine bleeding and pain in my chest would have not been done. The assistant had confirmed three times in phone conversations before the hospital visit that I was not going to have a colon biopsy. I have made formal complaints to five organizations about this doctor and hospital I came to Providence Tarzana Hospital to have an endoscopy ordered by my doctor. A supervisor in the admissions department said that the upstairs computer system showed an endoscopy and the downstairs system at admisions where I was asked to sign paperwork showed a colonoscopy with biopsy. A second more senior supervisor said she could not find a record in the system of the colonoscopy though I have the paperwork that they gave me that shows only the colonoscopy so it was in their system. I am not convinced that this is not a mistake but believe that it was done for financial gain. This is a very serious issue for any hospital or doctor. If this mistake could be made with me then it is possible that someone could be given major surgery by mistake or for financial gain. I am left with considerable pain and daily bleeding in my chest but no diagnosis because of this issue at Tarzana Providence and Dr Madievsky. read more

We visited the office of dr.Madievsky because my husband had some procedures to be done. We moved to California from different state. This medical office was one of the first we visited in CA. The office management was excellent: we didn't wait a long time, filled out the papers and walked in. Dr. Madievskiy attentively listened to my husband, reviewed his medical problems, and based on it prescribed the medication. Dr. Madievskiy suggested that some of the pills, which my husband used to take, do not match with other, and he changed them for something different, but with the same effect. Three days ago the procedures were done. I did worry a lot, because my husband has a very serious medical issues. The procedures was done quickly, I was informed that everything is good. Yesterday I had to ask couple of questions. I called the doctor's office. The receptionist told me that the doctor is in the hospital, she will talk to him and call me back. 20 minutes later Irina (I asked the name) called me back and said that we can come to the office because doctor Madievskiy will stop by to see my husband. Unbelievable! Dr. Madievskiy is the doctor from "old school". I remember such a doctors 40-50 years ago, when they thought about the patients, not only about the money. By the way, there was a little problem with my husband's insurance, and the office manager called and rectified the situation. If I were reviewing Dr. Madievsky as a doctor, my rating would probably be 5 or close to it. He is easy to talk to and explains things well. My one criticism is that he did not discuss the etiology of my gastroenterological issues, but that's true of most doctors nowadays. They are either off the deep end with holistic stuff (acupuncture, yoga, herbal, lifestyle changes, etc.) or they think everything is about prescribing pills. Dr. Madievsky is your traditional doctor, so don't see him if you are expecting otherwise. So, what is my complaint? His office has a new practice management system which is a pain. I received two sets of patient intake forms from two places. I receive garbled emails asking me to confirm appointments. Bills are sent from and payments are sent to an address in Maine. But worse, this office is more aggressive about billing than any medical practice I have ever visited. When I arrive for an appointment the first thing the pushy receptionist does is to tell me how much money I owe, and it's a lot. I tell her that the week before I had sent a large check for a different amount, and that I did not want to pay double. She keeps pushing and finally relents and gives me a copy of the new charges, which I insist on taking home to compare with the bill I had just paid. One of the intake forms, by the way, asks for you to sign authorizing them to automatically charge any amounts not paid by insurance to your credit card. I have never seen this before. I didn't sign and they didn't push me, but still... On top of that, Dr. Madievsky's charges are high. I recently had an angiogram at Cedars (not an inexpensive hospital) and the total cost to me was around a hundred dollars. For a colonoscopy/endoscopy with Dr. Madievsky I have already paid many hundreds of dollars, and they keep billing me for more months later. Furthermore Dr. Madievsky's charges are high. For a fifteen minute followup office visit he charges more than double what a world renowned specialist I see who is the author of best-selling books charges. And of course, my insurance will not pay Dr. Madievsky's inflated charges. And I keep receiving robo calls about unpaid bills... I have spent my life in business and know the importance of collections and cash flow, but this is ridiculous. So today, once again, I have to spend hours comparing invoices to make certain that I am not double paying. I am not looking forward to this... read more
