This US Army Veteran wishes to send his sincere gratitude for their kindness and quick assistance after I was left in the Emergency Room of Providence Tarzana 8-3-2024 not knowing if I'd leave their alive. After 7 spinal surgeries, Throat, Lymph nodes cancer heart attacks in 2024 and a history of Peptic Ulcers from corporate management, worldwide and stress I never know if tomorrow will come. I was in so much pain I wanted it to just end. ER staff were quick and kind as well. CT Scan was taken and medications given fir my stomach. I called Dr. Hepps MD on Saturday from the hospital and he didn't rush me and explained how he could see me ASAP. He did. 3 days later I was in his office. SUCRALFATE RX and Ondansetron has helped. We do need an Endoscopy/Colonoscopy and Dr. Hepps is working on getting cardiologist, Dr. Gazi MD approval. I am on blood thinners so it's dangerous. I am very sick and we must see what is causing this (cysts, spots on colon. Gastritis, etc.?). Bless you and your staff doctor. You helped lower the temperature. I had to give 1 star because there wasn't zero star option. I have never encountered such a condescending MD in my entire life. Think of someone who should be an empathic and welcoming professional, but instead, he barely fostered introductions, made :disgusted-look" faces every time I reported my spouse's health history (which made us feel that we were shocking him and we felt low morale), did not ask why we were there. He just opened the chart and read what other doctors said in the past and told us. I wasted $ to hear what we had read already. He does not give any word of encouragement, just put my spouse down and basically said that there is no hope and just deal with it. I work as a nurse for 36 years and I NEVER MET such COLD and uninterested person in the medical field as he is. What a horrible person. I heard that the female doctor in this group is very compassionate and knowledgeable. Would I have known that before, I would never had exposed my spouse for such humiliation. Much of the medical profession treats people with Hep-C with distain because Hep-C is often contracted by people who have abused drugs. In my case, it is true, although I have been clean and sober for many years. Dr.Hepps and his team treated me with the utmost dignity and respect. I saw Dr Hepps after not getting any answers from my primary care and my previous Gastroenterologist. As expected Dr Hepps patiently listened to my history and symptoms and after hearing me out completely suggested that i was diagnosed incorrectly, he immediately told me what could be causing my gerd symptoms and also educated me the cause of my throat problems as well. I would have found it rewarding to provide a nice review for Dr. Hepps, but unfortunately, I had the opportunity to discuss my appointment with his receptionist "Alex"- she insulted my intelligence on several occasions- I never even had the opportunity to the schedule the appointment- when I asked her a question she replied with very condescending answers - I would not schedule an appointment with this Dr. until Alex has been removed from the office. read more

I saw Dr. Hepps at Valley Digestive Health Center in Arcadia where he serves as a visiting doctor for Kaiser. I told his nurse and the doctor that I need stronger anesthesia than most because I tend to be resistant. I got the brush off and ended up being awake during a very painful colonoscopy. Afterwards, when I asked what happened, he made excuses and never apologized. He also was very cold and indifferent. This shouldn't have happened and Dr. Hepps should be ashamed of himself!! read more

I'd like to see if the other reviewer feels the same way about Hepps' office after some time when she starts getting called by them to pay her bill (since this office does not send bills). And pay quickly she must or he won't see her again. It turns out that Hepps knew I might have Crohns Disease but never found time to call me to tell me this. Extremely pleased! The office staff emailed all my forms so I could fill them out before my appointment. The office also sends a link to a patient portal so you can register to see your information about your visit, bills, medical info, etc... The office staff is extremely helpful and friendly and I only waited for 5-10 minutes before being seen by the doctor. Doctor Hepps is down-to-earth and easy to talk to. He listens and makes sure everything he says is understood by the patient. I have a family history of colon cancer so he agreed that I should have a colonoscopy now, rather than waiting until I'm 50. He was straightforward and honest about what procedures are necessary and what are not needed. He was also candid about what certain procedures cost. Alex helped me book my colonoscopy and thoroughly explained everything I needed to know about prepping as well as the outpatient facility. She's awesome! I will update this once I've had the procedure, but based on my first visit, I couldn't be happier! read more

I was able to get accommodated for an appointment pretty quickly for an initial visit and helpful to have paperwork emailed to me in advance. Not a long wait time once there for the appointment. He seems to know about his field but not very personable and seems kinda cold and someone like me who has general anxiety especially with medical stuff it doesn't help. He ordered a test that I was to take at the medical center and did the testing and was told from them my doctor (Hepps in this case) would call me and discuss. It's been over two weeks and no call and there is no way results take that long especially with the test I took. This is awful patient care and communication for something I have dealt with for many years and wanting resolution. The staff is nice but him apparently doesn't really care it seems so now hopefully I can get these test results and info sent to a doctor I now have to look for who has better communication, concern, and bed side manner. He was recommended from another doctor and said he was very good at what he does and I don't doubt that but the people skills and that aspect are piss-poor. read more

Dr. Hepps came highly recommended and now I see why. His office staff and particularly Alex and Ashley were wonderful! I was anxious and nervous and probably had my assistant call Alex with many more questions than the usual, but every phone call was handled professionally and with caring. Though I spoke to a lot of people about the Colonoscopy procedure, none had a doctor who prescribed changing food choices for five days before the procedure to ensure that everything went according to plan - and it did.
