Do not waste your time or money. I went for the first time today took forever to get an appointment. waiting room was packed hot dirty and outright gross. The PA spent all of 10 minutes with me. after waiting over an hour maybe they shouldn't overbook. I went for a skin cancer screening it was an absolute joke it was so quick that if there was something it would be over looked. I am knowledgeable enough about my skin due to dermatologist in Manhattan which I should have stuck with bc I was asking and answering all my own questions. Seems they just want to push cosmetic procedures not for me I will be going back to the city where there are real PA's and dr's. read more

Terrible bedside manner. Patient care isn't a top priority. Just know when you go on time you will sit in the waiting room for at least 45 minutes before being seen. You will sit with the doctor for 15 minutes. And he will rush you out. Not worth it there's plenty of other derms in SI that value your time read more

I visited Dr. Kurzman's office about two weeks ago and will never go back. His bedside manner is horrible very cold, and dry. Had zero care for my skin problems. He brushed it off with me not washing my face the correct way. The medicine he gave me caused an infection on my skin. luckily i found a better derm who took his time listening to my problem and treated me and now my skin is nice and clear! read more

My initial appointment with Dr. Kurzman was an acute skin issue . The doctor answered all my questions and suggested I come back in a month or so for further treatment . During the interim I was treated by CityMD for skin inflammation . Once I completed the antibiotic I called Dr. Kurzman's office to cancel the second follow-up appointment . Staff member Michelle called me back and after hearing about the medical treatment rendered by CityMD suggested I keep the upcoming appointment to allow Dr. Kurzman's assessment. Dr. Kurzman explained to me that an injection of cortisone could very well clear up everything. He advised me to come back if there are any further problems. It is a very busy practice and the office staff seems to do the best they can.My daughter has waited 2+ hours but feels it is well worth it. The office practices of Dr. Michael Kurzman need improvement. Specifically: use non personal confidential identifying information to confirm patient id or appointment; if the office makes an appointment with a patient for 9:00am, answer the phone at 9:00am, when the patient is calling from outside, at 9:00am, waiting to enter the building for their 9:00am appointment. At 9:18am, after taking a cigarette break in the parking lot, and deciding to answer the patient call at 9:18am, refrain from telling the patient that you did not answer the calls earlier because the "answering service answers calls until 10:30am". Alternatively, if you are making an appointment with patients at 9:00am be prepared for the patient expectation that the office is prepared to keep the appointment at 9:00am. Office staff should take a communication class or professional development class to better learn how to provide customer service. read more

I don't normally rate doctors because I don't think it would be fair of me. I am too scared of any doctor and hate going that I don't think I would be able to be objective. I am making an exception for Dr. Kurzman so I can let you all know how awesome he is. I recently went to him because of a keloid I have on my back. It was obvious that I was super nervous. He was extremely patient with me and answered all my questions. Also, I barely had to wait at all. One of my biggest pet peeves about doctors is that they have no respect for your time. I recently went to Dr Kurzman for help with my aging skin. I have been very skeptical of treatments, however, after speaking with Dr. Kurzman and learning about alll the benefits Bellafill has to offer, I was very enthusiastic to receive my treatment. Unfortunately, I had one of those horrific customer service experiences you think are made-up reviews. I called Dr. Kurzman's office to make an appointment for my elderly mother. The office person who answered the phone said they accepted my mother's insurance but they would not provide the information needed for my mother's primary care physician to send the referral. The information I needed was a standard HIP insurance number that any doctor accepting my mother's insurance would have. When I asked if they would be willing to speak with my mother's primary care doctor's office they said no and hung up. I can handle poor customer service but have a problem with claiming to take a certain insurance but then not being able to support that claim by providing standard information for a referral. I made an appointment over a month ago for my 13 year old son. The office sent me 5 text messages and 4 emails confirming my appt. I called the office a week before his appt to confirm. I went to the appt and i filled out all the paperwork and the receptionist proceeds to tell me she doesnt take my insurance. i drove all the way to the office, left work early to be told they do not take my insurance. no one could of called me or emailed me before the appt? Then the receptionist lies and tells me she left me a voicemail after i made a big deal about not being told weeks before. Very unprofessional and disorganized office. BEWARE!!! read more

When you have an appointment with the doctor your appointment is at 10 you get in at three. If you need to see him for an emergency you have to wait for appointment for months ! After you get to the office the staff over books your waiting for hours and hours to be seen . Susie at the front desk is rude nasty and no customer services skills . She is the worst !!! You call her she gets nasty and is lazy to help out . She is horrible ! I am surprise she is still there . Many people complain about her and her nasty attitude. I started seeing Dr. Kurzman in order to handle an acne problem. Nothing he was giving me seemed to be working, so I decided to research things on my own and find a better solution. Once I suggested a stronger medication, he prescribed it and I currently have clear skin and I'm very happy with that. This is about the only thing I'm happy about with this doctor. The medicine I was on (Claravis, an updated version of the old Accutane) is very strong, and requires monthly bloodwork before new prescriptions for the month. For the 5 months that I've been taking this, I have had issues every time I needed to pick up a new supply. Kurzman's office is extremely hard to get in touch with during normal hours too which made getting medicine that much harder. Kurzman's hours also suck. They're inconsistent and like a typical private practice, they're extremely inconvenient for people with normal 9-5 jobs. His hours aren't even updated on any websites. His website and even yelp aren't accurate, so if you need to see him, make sure you ask a live person over the phone what the hours are and write them down for reference. Again, the medicine I am on is very strong with lots of side effects (some as serious as liver failure, depression/suicidal thoughts) and I feel like I was an type of priority patient. I was once having a bad reaction on my skin to the medicine so I called the office as soon as possible (after hearing a busy signals for the first 15 tries), and learned he was on vacation. I was told to call a different doctor from a different practice. Since I wasn't his patient, and I did not want to make an appointment with a random doctor, the best they could do was basically "get a moisturizer and good luck!". Also, each of the times I saw Kurzman, I waited atleast 45 minutes although I came to my appointments on time (his waiting room has no service so that 45 minutes felt like an eternity too). Since he must book 5 people for the same time, he rushed me through my appointments so he could get to the next ones. I would have to write down all my questions in my phone and make sure I knew what to ask because he would talk to me for a minute and then say "ok just set up another appointment, see you in a month" and I'd have to say "Hold on, I have some questions". There was always little to no concern from him whatsoever. Oh and most of his receptionists were nasty, like most Staten Island doctors offices. I only liked 1 receptionist, the physician's assistant, and Dr. Ponzio who would help Kurzman with his patients. I specifically made appointments with her instead of Kurzman, and then she moved to a different state. If she had stayed in the area, I would've switched to her practice in a heartbeat. Bottom line: I am happy with the results I've seen, but the journey that I took to get these results was extremely irritating. read more

Dr. Kurzman is a great doctor. I truly appreciate his care. But please, Dr. Kurzman, why would you invest money in your education and practice and then hire such unprofessional staff? They should be a reflection of you and represent the quality that your practice maintains but as a patient I am very disappointed. The individual that handled my call, at the end of your day, on a Thursday, was neither professional nor caring of my needs as your patient. She was abrupt, had no desire to listen to what I needed, and made it clear she wanted to be off the phone. I too work in office and pride myself in maintaining proper phone ettiquete at all times. The specialist he sent me to commended his biopsy and said that had the biopsy not been done so well, it would have missed my condition. I couldn't be happier that I went one more time and chose Dr. Kurzman. He is professional and amazing. Didn't push more than I wanted to accomplish. He laid out a plan for the future without selling me anything. My results had me literally floating that very night. I needed a lift and I got that and more from him. I took my son over a week ago for a skin condition. Dr. Kurzman prescribed medicine. He handed us a business card for a pharmacy in Manhattan, that would fill the presciption. I called the doctors office back and informed the person on the phone I wanted the medicine called or electronically sent to the pharmacy of my choice (obviously a local one where all his scripts are). The person on the phone said that they would not call/electronically send it to the pharmacy of my choice. After some back and forth and a hold she said ok. It was sent to my pharmacy and the pharmacist called me and said Kurzman has to call the insurance company and receive an authorization number. The pharmacist said this is common now that the office calls the insurance company for an authorization number. I called back the office and the person on the other end of the phone (same person from before) said that they don't do it (they are to busy was what I was told). I explained that the pharmacist said that it is done all the time. I even called the Office of Medical Professional Discipline and they said that the doctor has to call. After back and forth and holding for a period of time I was informed that they would do it but it could take 2 weeks. It is now over a week and obviously the doctor couldn't care less about my sons (yes a minor) condition. Kurzman is all about making money and couldn't care less about the patient. read more
