I also gave my insurance information over the phone when a staff member called me to confirm my appointment the day before. I waited to be seen. Approximately 4 other patients arrived after me & were seen before me. I patiently observed this and thought I will wait to see how my visit goes before I solidify my overall impression. The PA was very informative and nice. Unfortunately she did not identify herself as a PA, just as Jacqueline Levine. They were going to charge me over $100 for simple skin tag removals which I needed to schedule at another visit. I decided i better seek out another dermatologist. Luckily, I did. And am so, so grateful for listening to my instinct. The other office - Skinworks is phenomenal. There is a location in Park Slope for all the Brooklyn folk.

As for Dr. Saitta, I've been coming in to see him for years because I am performer and I can count on him to administer Dysport conservatively assuring that I can look my best without being expressionless. If I want more, I can always address that in a followup. I believe he interested in staying up-to-date with the latest and best dermatological medicine as he's mentioned a few times seminars or articles he has read. So I do believe he knows his stuff. However, it's his bedside manner and his character that really keep me coming back. Here are two examples: I had gone to him because an office here in NJ said I needed surgery to remove a pre-cancerous mole on my back. He perused the notes and said I should go back to that office and get the surgery done "First, because its important!" and second, to avoid the delay in switching offices, new paperwork, etc. He said it would take forever and it's better I get this done than to wait. That is the mark of someone who is more concerned with a patient than making more money. I also want to mention that, financially, I went through a very rough time during Covid because I lost all of my work. I was strapped but I needed to keep getting Dysport because I was still meeting with agents and producers. I figured I'd put my bill on my credit card. During my appointment, just in casual conversation, I had mentioned my struggles to Dr. Saitta. When I walked out and went to pay, I learned he had charged me an astronomically low fee. I couldn't believe it. I left there feeling so happy and heard. Trust me, Dr. Saitta is a gem. Talented and kind? Not easy to find in a doctor these days.

After another 10 phone calls, I was finally given that phone and now find it is out for delivery to the CLOSED SINY Dermatology East 76 Street office. not only do they not accept Medicare- I am forced to pay the full price and in now waiting in the cold in front of the SINY Dermatology E 65 office. What followed was a masterclass in how not to run a medical office. I sat there for 35 minutes while two patients who arrived after me were taken in before me--without a word of explanation. In addition to the frustration of the wait--there was a lack of basic communication. The first acknowledgment didn't come until nearly 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, and even then there was no clear explanation. A simple "we're running behind" or "we made a mistake" would have gone a long way. Instead, it was a vague "he should be ready any minute". At 4:30, after watching others jump the line, I left. Yes, they apologized--but only after the damage was done. Why did they take two people before me. It was clearly a mistake, but I had already been waiting 25 minutes. An apology doesn't give me my time back which is valuable. For what it's worth, the physical space didn't inspire confidence either. The office is subterranean--below street level--and has a somewhat cave-like feel. It's small, a bit run-down, and the window AC unit doesn't help the overall impression. Mistakes happen. What matters is how they're handled. In this case: no communication, no ownership, no urgency. And a doctor who clearly thinks his time is more valuable than his patients. First impressions matter--especially in healthcare. This one ensured I won't be back. If you enjoy waiting and having your time disrespected, this might be your place. Otherwise, consider it a warning.
