I could not be happier with my experience with Dr. Kosdon! My best friend had both front teeth knocked out when an ambulance with no sirens on blew a red light and nearly killed him on his skateboard. As if the major leg injury wasn't enough to take on, having both front teeth knocked out on top of it was devastating for him, especially since his teeth were absolutely picture perfect naturally. I went to Dr. Kosdon a few years ago. The experience was awful. The staff was very nice, but he came in, looked at my teeth and told me I had 2 cavities. (I have never had cavities my whole life, so that was odd.) Then he said he could take care of them that day. He did one and then he drilled and worked on the other one, a molar. He stopped drilling and one point and said "I went to far. You'll have to have a root canal." Then he told me I had to be referred to another dentist for the root canal and left the room. He came back with a referral and left again. I told the women in front that I had questions for him, but they said he wasn't available and tried to answer my questions for me. Then Dr. Kosdon came behind the counter to talk to someone and I stopped him to ask him questions. He said muffled "I just had work done and I'm numb, so I can't talk." It was horrible. I left horrified, and immediately went to another doctor who took care of me! read more

First of all, I believe the 5-star reviews for Dr. Kosdon are fake. I went to Dr. Kosdon based on the three 5-star reviews he has here. Dr. Kosdon found 6 cavities and said I needed a partial crown for one of them. He said the woman at the front desk would go over what my insurance would cover. When I went to the front desk, the woman gave me a printout of a $3,000 treatment plan (of which his office said my insurance would pay half - however, I have a plan that pays 60%). The printout listed 6 partial crowns at $300 each. I said I thought I needed fillings and I wanted to talk to Dr. Kosdon about the treatment plan. She said she would talk to him for me and call me. After two days went by, I called and left a message. A couple days later I left another message. A couple more days later, Dr. Kosdon called me. I told him I didn't understand why I would need partial crowns for cavities. He said I have had a lot of "patchwork" (fillings?) done, and he doesn't work that way. If I want patchwork, I need to go somewhere else. I told him I felt like he was trying to rip me off. He got defensive and rude. I went to another dentist (Dr. Sherman Zieve) who came highly recommended by a friend for a second opinion. Dr. Zieve recommended a $1,000 treatment plan. He said partial crowns would be great and last a long time, but they're a lot more expensive than fillings. In conclusion, I think Dr. Kosdon knows what he's doing, but I appreciate a dentist who takes cost into consideration when coming up with a treatment plan - not just recommending the most expensive option. BTW- his office is very nice, but you have to realize it's his patients that are paying for all of the fancy new equipment and flat screen TVs. read more

This doctor is AMAZING!!! He is so nice, personable, handsome, and cool! I wanted to invite him to a party! But felt weird to ask him!! Now to my teeth! After a very extensive search for the perfect dentist to change the look of my front teeth.. he was my Top choice. During the procedure he talked me through the whole thing step by step. He explained the feeling you were about to have and the feeling after he was done. This helped me a great deal when I got home and the sensitivity began. He even called from his cell phone and told me to feel free to reach out. This is great service if you ask me. I've been going to Dr. Kosdon since May of this year. I did a bunch of research on dentists, and actually read about him in some news story after he did a celebrity's teeth. He was on my short list after that and when my insurance kicked in at my (then) new job, I gave him a try. Dr. Kosdon has offices in North Hollywood and way out in Westlake Village. I see him in his NH offices. His staff is phenomenal. They talk you through everything and he's great at explaining what's going on. After my first appointment, the doctor determined one of the 2 fillings I have was ready for a replacement. It was an old silver filling and Dr. Kosdon was going to replace it with a porcelain inlay. I'm a big guy, but I'm even bigger of a sissy when it comes to drilling of my teeth. Dr. Kosdon was EXTREMELY sensitive about this and really went above and beyond to numb me up. He kept asking me, "you OK?" to the point he sounded like The Rain Man, but this isn't a bad thing at all! I liked the fact he kept checking to see if I was feeling pain. I haven't been to a dentist who cares for his patients like this. In the end, his work has been outstanding, and his staff is phenomenal. I'll go to Dr. Kosdon for a long time to come! read more

Dr. Michael Kosdon had to fix my crown for free because of a previous mistake he made. While fixing his FIRST mistake, he accidentally slit my tongue. Then tried to deny it and say it was my gum, not my tounge. Blatantly lying to my face, while I was in pain, and bleeding everywhere. I was bleeding, hurt, scared and I had to get multiple stitches immediately. He never apologized, and I had to go to an oral surgeon to fix his sloppy work. All while, he DENIED inuring my tounge! On top of all this, he said I didn't need a new crown (the one he fixed before) on my wisdom tooth, assuring me that it was fine and in good condition. This is the same crown that he replaced earlier, incorrectly. He was too lazy to get it right the first time. Three days later I was in horrible pain, I ran to his office, and he wasn't even in town. Turns out, it was so decayed and corroded, that I had to go in for Emergency Surgery performed by an oral surgeon. Dr. Kosdon was no where to be found, even in an Emergency..... apparently he's hard to find when he needs to fix a mistake HE made. I DO NOT recommend this dentist to anyone. He does sloppy work, is never available when needed, lies to your face, and CANNOT be trusted. read more

Oooh... I'm the first:) I had invisalign done here and they seem to do so many of those that they have it down. I had to wear the plastic retainers for 6 months and I am happy with the results. The one thing they don't tell you about invisalign (PAY ATTENTION lol): You may or may not need little white bumps attached to your fangs (what's the clinical name for those teeth -- canines?) If you think you can take out the plastic trays and look completely normal, you might not like that you will still have a white bump on several of your teeth. I don't think everyone needs them, but if you are say, a fashion model or actress that can't have weird bumps on your teeth when you take off the trays, ask if they will be necessary. read more

I'm going to be honest, I had an issue with Dr. Kosdon in the past with a crown. That crown popped out of my mouth numerous times throughout the years and caused me a lot of stress. However, I called him 6 years later and he just fixed my crown. The fact that he took step back and fixed my crown speaks a lot about Dr. K. I am happy and thankful that he fixed the old issue. In my late 20s my mouth was in a very bad place. Didn't have health insurance for most of my 20s and despite my best efforts my teeth were deteriorating rapidly. An overbite was to have been corrected by braces at a young age but ended up with my top front teeth resting on my bottom front teeth and constantly chipping away the top teeth. The top teeth had been large almost buck teeth when I was a child to very small teeth that were only getting smaller. All of this made me convinced that I would have seriously unhealthy teeth in my late thirties and probably follow my fathers foot steps of dentures at a young age. Everything came to a head about 5 years ago while traveling got a large abscess because of an infected tooth. The pain was unbearable and i couldn't even sleep. I met Doctor Kosdon by recommendation who immediately took a look at my mouth and started a plan to fix it. He got the hurting tooth back to health and we began working on my entire mouth at a rate in which I could afford and was able to explain that even if I was able to do it slow it would be getting done and we would make progress. Over time we would take a mouth that I thought was almost beyond repair and rehabilitate it into a, and it feels amazing to say, smile I can be proud of. I originally came to Dr. Kosdon's office for a routine cleaning appointment & exam. I was really impressed with the office...it was clean and comfortable and best of all, it didn't feel like I just walked in to a dentist's office. Unfortunately for me, I needed some crowns & fillings. Even though I wasn't excited that I needed dental work, he was able to show me pictures of my teeth & explain why I needed the crowns (he uses this cool camera that looks like a pen to take pictures of your teeth) . The front desk girls were great at explaining to me how much my insurance would cover & how much I would be responsible for. This was refreshing as my typical experience with a dentist or doctor's is that they just do the treatment and then stick you with a bill you don't expect. This is the best dental office I have been to in Los Angeles. I originally grew up in Michigan and am used to a little more attention from my dentist, I finally got that from this office. I took a chance on a referral from a friend and was amazed!! A couple of reasons this was the best experience. The office has great staff is extra friendly, he had bottled water in the waiting room, a massaging chair while I had a cleaning, and when Dr. Kosdon checked me out he had a camera that took pictures of my mouth and actually showed me what was going on with two of my teeth. If I could give negative stars to this person who calls himself a doctor, that's what I'd do. I was in and out of his office for 6 months and all I got to show for it, was months of crying, stress, and ended up with horrid, painful and the worst teeth ever. He completely ruined my teeth and refused to fix them. They tear into my inner lip and I can't bite down evenly. I started out with beautiful teeth and now I look like a wild animal. My two front two stick out more than the others and are bucked. The canines stick our more than all the others and make me look like a wild dog. They hurt my inner lip and are so sharp, they also cut into my lip. I asked for crowns and I gave Dr. Kosdon exactly what I wanted and even showed him several pics. of the exact teeth I wanted. He just couldn't get it right. They kept coming in from the lab with problems. They were uneven. They were bucked. One front tooth would stick out further than the other. It was one thing after the other. He always promised to fix a problem and the next time they would come in, either he'd fix that problem and there would be another, or the first problem wouldn't even be fixed and there would be several others. Then he would argue with me. I would show him evidence and measure the teeth. Even then...he wouldn't admit to the mistakes. He's very arrogant and won't listen to anything you have to say. He promises you the world and gives you horror and pain. I was charge thousands of dollars and now I have to go and pay to get my teeth completely redone. I would stay very far away from this man. Wow is all I have to say. The staff is great and Sheri who works behind the welcoming desk is friendly and informative. The office itself is warm and inviting, unlike most doctors offices. Dr Kosdon is the best dentist by far in Los Angeles. I had tried 3 different dentists in Los Angeles and none measure up to Dr. Kosdon. He is very knowledgable and honest. He doesn't just recommend proceedures for the heck of it. He has a great personality and was understanding of my uncertainties and concerns. I've had 2 crowns, teeth whitening, and multiple cleanings. Each experience I've had was great. I could not be more happy with Dr. Kosdon and his office. I travel a lot for work, and in particular to New York. I heard that he even has an office there too. i've been going to dr. kosdon since may of last year. i don't particularly like going to the dentist and felt very uncomfortable about going since i hadn't gone in such a long time. after watching all those damn 1800 dentist commercials on tv, i decided, "it's about time." i knew that i needed extensive work on my teeth since i am a grinder and totally wore my teeth down to nothing. after a lot of research, i decided to give dr. kosdon a try. i made an appointment and went to his north hollywood office. the facility is very nice and doesn't make you feel that sense of impending doom. the waiting room looks more like a living room with a mini fridge full of cold beverages while you wait, and the staff is super nice and friendly. dr. kosdon is very caring and personable and takes his time to make sure i was comfortable during my treatment. he also personally called me the next day to follow up and make sure i was okay after all my dental work. as an added luxury, they offer complimentary paraffin wax treatments, facials, and massages while you're in the chair. nothing i've been used to. i was so comfortable that i almost fell asleep the last time i went in for a cleaning. the massaging chairs might have had something to do with that. i also love the hygienist who is very nice and professional and still gives me a bag of dental goodies as if i'm a five year old. if you need just general dentistry or a check up, this is probably not the place. you need to remember that dr. kosdon is a COSMETIC dentist. i do still go there for my cleanings and such because i have a mouth full of special needs and feel comfortable with the people who have been treating it. i also like the fact that i can watch my shows while getting a cleaning, and they let me hold the remote. more importantly, i am no longer in pain and have an absolutely beautiful set of chompers that can bite through anything. read more

I recently moved out of the state and the only thing I am truly bummed about missing in Los Angeles (other than the food) is Dr.Kosdon. I can not begin to sing Dr.Kosdon's praises more! I LOVED the spa-like atmosphere, the friendly & efficient dental hygenists/assistant staff & the state of art technology. The office manager, Sheri, is fantastic and always willing to go the extra mile. I have been to many dentists over the years & have always considered this office to be the CLEANEST, FRIENDLIEST & most professional. Although I have never needed anything as intricate as a root canal or extraction, I always felt confident in Dr.Kosdon's knowledge of his field. Dr. Kosdon and his staff are just fantastic. I have been a patient at his North Hollywood office for the past five years and my mouth is very happy! The entire team shows such great attention to detail-- the big and the little things. The office manager Sherri always calls to remind me about my appointment and is just super friendly and professional. She'll ask me about things she remembers from my last visit and always makes me smile. The hygenists have each given me the most thorough cleanings I have ever had. And the doc feels like a friend--very knowledgable, and talks you through everything he's doing. Dr. Kosdon is not at all intimidating, and actually fun to chat with. Ive been going to Dr. Kos for close to 10 years. He and his staff are thoughtful, talented and a lot of fun (Sherry in the front is a doll!). I read some of the bad reviews below and frankly, I'm shocked. My experience couldn't be more far from those reviews. I actually had a cavity filled a couple days ago and it took 3 minutes for the entire procedure and was totally painless. I also get my teeth cleaned here and the dental hygienist is fabulous. I would recommend Dr. Kos to my friends and family. read more
