I went to another store and I was welcomed right away, but they wouldn't let me try on the hair. I left and went to MGS Boutique and I was welcomed warmly right when I walked in. The woman in the shop helped me pick out some very cute wigs and helped me try them on. I bought two. I will definitely be shopping here again. Also, they have some really nice African clothing and accessories.

There was only the one (the original) style & color (frog green) to choose from and only a limited selection of sizes (mine!). I also got a Beaver field coat. They also carry Barbour and other brand names. There are some really beautiful pieces - tweed jackets, hand-made ties but you have to deal with the owner, Rick. He's a nice enough guy but he doesn't have too many visitors, so expect to talk, and I mean, TALK. We (my poor mother and I) were probably in there for at least an hour and we knew in the first 5 minutes that he had what I needed. But, he had to show us everything in the store and tell us how folks aren't buying as much as they used to. He also happens to be a day-trader, but don't get him started on stocks. My mother made this mistake and it lengthened our stay by at least another 20 minutes! Rick also has a very fine collection of imported soaps and men's shaving needs. We left with more soap than we could possibly give away in a year. Look out friends, you're all getting imported soaps for Christmas!

I'm newly in between sizes so I grabbed multiples of many items to see what would fit best. There was a short wait if only 2 customers ahead of me in the fitting room. When I needed sizes, they helped find them, they remembered my name and even gave complements. Working in retail is not easy, especially in the fitting rooms but you wouldn't know as they had smiles on their faces. I ended up purchasing a good amount of clothes for great prices thanks to the sale. I would def return due to them. They other staff weren't as helpful but Jamie and Stephanie made up for it!

I love Barbour ... although the fit doesn't always love me back. Though the Brits are catching up…read moreto us Yanks when it comes to fatness (statistics back that up) Barbour still fits a size smaller in my opinion than US sizing. But, its high quality stuff and many pieces have that fantastic classy yet sensible country style that I love. Having said that, such style comes at a cost. Your average jacket or coat retails for $300 - $650 at Barbour. What I love about this store is that they carry current stuff at a small 15-20% discount generally. However, they have several rqcks in the back of the store with Barbour's famous 'Oddiments' ... past-season or catalog returns at 70% off. I bought a $550 retail down puffer jacket for a little over $150 from this rack. The lady happens to wear size 6 US (which dishearteningly is a size UK 10) and that happens to be Barbour's Sample size (men's is Medium) and they had a whole giant rack of Samples at 50% off. The store is laid out very well and the staff is helpful. I LOVE their approach! When I walked in, one of the women staffers said, 'Welcome to Barbour. We want to give you space to do your thing but we aren't ignoring you. Let us know if you need anything.' I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! Nothing worse than when some salesperson follows you around telling you that you look good in everything you try on, even if it fits you like a sausage casing. I ended up buying more than I should here. But ... at a huge savings. Barbour outlets are few and far between. NH has 2, including the factory clearance center in Milford, NH which is 20 minutes away. This is more of a warehouse because it is attached to the place Barbour does all the rewaxing and alterations on items in North America. So they often have racks of somewhat damaged items at 70% off and special sales where jackets are $30. The outlet in Merrimack is classier and more of a traditional store, whereas the clearance factory outlet in Milford is more of a warehouse sale. If you are shopping in northern MA/southern NH, it's a great outlet mall to walk around and this store is always worth a stop when I am in the area.

So so glad I came in! I'm new to leatherworking, and even having read project instructions and blogs, I wasn't sure what I needed or what to do with the tools and dyes. I browsed for a while and when I was ready to check out, Cass (sorry if I'm spelling it wrong!) asked what I was making and helped me weed out unnecessary tools and replaced them with what I really needed. She also took a lot of time walking around explaining what I'd need to dye leather and finish it, what kinds of coatings to use, and gave me a demo of using the strap cutter, dye, top coat, wax coat, gum tragacanth and edge slicker, as well as both edge bevelers I was purchasing. So so useful! She explained why eyelets won't work in belt holes (buckle pins need an oblong hole or they'll get stuck), and was generally really easygoing, full of great tips, and she gave me the leather sample piece so I could remember what to do. Also, she pointed me to their classes which are free if you get a $35 per year membership, totally worth it for four classes of instruction on carving, tooling, dyeing, etc. I have to make time to come back for that! There was a huge selection of tools in an organized and uncluttered store in a mill building with tons of parking. It's a little out of the way but I'm excited to take classes when I can fit them in and to come back if I have questions. Thanks Tandy!
