I normally don't write negative reviews, but my experience with Dr. Robbins left me deeply…read moredisturbed, especially during our last couples therapy session. One of the most concerning moments was when he told me that my childhood trauma was my "perception." I shared that my mom would wake me up in the middle of the night to console her through panic attacks. I then asked him if a child being molested by a parent would also be "perception," and he said yes. He later clarified that perception doesn't mean it didn't happen--but using that word felt extremely invalidating. When I expressed that, he dismissively responded, "Okay, I just won't use that word if you don't like it." Throughout our sessions, he emphasized "self-control." When I shared that I believe control and self-control are often used to push away feelings, he immediately told me we could not work together. When I tried to explain my perspective, he shut down and refused to share his own thoughts. During that same session, he disengaged almost completely--remaining silent and appearing to stare me down. He said he didn't want to "argue," but I was simply expressing how I felt. Therapy should be a safe space to communicate openly, not one where a therapist withdraws when challenged. There was also a situation where my wife stormed out of last session because I didn't want to spend our 45 minute session going through a 50-page workbook. I preferred to do that outside of session time. Despite this, Dr. Robbins placed the blame entirely on me. And because I kept urging Dr. Robbins to look at the underlying root issues in our relationship, he acted very childishly by using that same approach in a crude way on me. My wife lost our family 500k by gambling it away in stocks and crypto. He asked how it made me feel and what trauma that was coming from. Obviously, it makes me feel like I don't matter, but I want to break the cycle of my childhood trauma where boundaries were not allowed, and I want to set boundaries with my wife. When Dr. Robbins heard that, he didn't care to respond, because his main goal was to one up me by using the root cause methods I was urging him to use. At another point, he asked, "Where do feelings come from?" I said the inner child, and he responded, "No, it comes from behavior." I am always talking to my son about feelings and emotions, and after the session I told him what Dr. Robbins said about feelings not coming from the inner child. My six-year-old son's immediate response was, "what the h*ll." Even my six-year old son is emotionally smarter than Dr. Robbins. I would not recommend working with Dr. Robbins because he uses his pain and his coping mechanisms to dictate the session. After ten sessions, we had no real improvement in our relationship.

First she wasted 15 min going over useless intros and Qs. She asked me the EXACT name and title of my insurance in Teladoc as an identity question. WTF. My birthday and name are enough. That's all my other therapists ask me for. Then she mocked me for seeing another therapist recently. Told me I couldn't see her again if I insisted on trying multiple therapists. Which shows how COMPLETELY ignorant she is of both therapy and how Teladoc works. In Teladoc you don't pick specific providers, you book an appointment with whoever is available. And as a patient I always have the right to shop around for the best care. Thanks for belittling me lady. Final insult to injury is how she cuts off sessions after 45 min when Teladoc sessions are always 1hr. So I barely spent 30 min with her total. But maybe it was for the best bec I couldn't wait to get out of there. She made my skin crawl and didn't listen to or address any of the issues I brought up. I'm glad Teladoc is free under my insurance bec I know that wasn't worth my money!

Beware!! READ THE OTHER ONE AND TWO STAR REVIEWS FIRST!!…read more This is one of two YELP websites associated with DR LOIS NIGHTINGALE so I'll be sure to look at both! My guess is the initial site collected so many bad reviews she ghosted it and created a new site - s of this writing the Nightingale Center is 3.3 stars and the Dr Lois Nightingale site is 5.0 Before I tell you about our experiences, I would suggest that you consider that the negative reviews stretch over a number of years. It's not just one or two unhappy people. The very first thing you need to understand is that this Doctor is rigid and I do mean RIGID! There is one way - Her way! As I saw in another comment, she has a very very big ego and I would entirely agree with that 100%! Let me tell you about our experience, which was terrible. My wife and I were having issues and I convinced my wife to go to Doctor (PhD) because I wanted to get a "highly trained counsellor" as opposed to a general therapy counsellor with only a masters degree. BIG MISTAKE.!! We had not had counselling in quite a while and I anticipated that I would talk to the doctor and tell her about my concerns, about our relationship and how I dealt with my wife and vice versa NOPE!! I wanted to make sure my wife was comfortable so I asked the doctor to interview us individually, taking my wife first so I would have no influence on the interview, I.e. by being the first one to speak to the doctor before my wife. So we both filled out written statements about our concerns and then my wife saw the doctor and then I saw the doctor after that, at a separate session as I said above. When I met with the her for my individual session, the doctor would literally not allow me to speak about my wife. She repeatedly told me I could only be responsible for myself and that was all she wanted to talk about. I found this unsettling, but as I really wanted to get counselling and we had started the process I chose to continue with it. It was a difficult one hour and I left confused and unsure of exactly what the Tools we were gonna be using were. The next step was for both of us to meet with her. We had two sessions - well, 1 1/2, before I simply walked out. At the first session, after only 15 minutes together in the room with her, Dr Nightingale told my wife and I: "You two are a therapist's dream! You're a perfect couple! " Those are literally the exact words she said to us after only 15 minutes together! WTF ! ! ?? To say at least I was shell-shocked, my very first thought was how could you say these things to us if you've only been that's 15 minutes? I had written an extensive list of things I was concerned about and wanted to address, wanted to fix. I love my wife and I have no intention of divorce or anything else. We were really looking for solutions, but we had issues. We had problems. And to hear this after only 15 minutes with the doctor, well I just don't know what to say. It's still amazes me to day to think that I heard it.

When I first started seeing him, I was trying to ween off an especially difficult to ween off antidepressant. Joseph helped me with lowering the dosages and scheduling follow ups until I was finally able to get off them entirely. A few months later when my depression crept back and began to severely affect and disrupt my day to day life, I reached back out to Dr. Joseph. He prescribed me an antidepressant that had a profound effect on my wellbeing. I don't always have the best experience with doctors. I feel that sometimes doctors lose their empathy or prescribe medication all willy-nilly to treat a symptom rather than the whole. Throughout my time with Dr. Joseph, I felt that he took the time to listen to my concerns, and cared about improving my quality of life. He was incredibly knowledgeable in his craft and vigilant in finding the perfect dose. He took the time to explain the cons and benefits of different medicines and why he believed this one was the right one for me.
