Finally, Monday came and the receptionist Isabella was able to squeeze me in that same day. Dr. Skoly and his staff were so attentive, polite and extremely helpful. I am eternally grateful for Dr. Skoly and his staff. It's been 1 day since they removed my wisdom tooth and I feel a BIG difference. I'm now able to talk, eat, basically open my mouth without it causing me pain. I will be recommending everyone I know to this practice. -My health insurance didn't cover this so I paid $325 out of pocket -I needed a referral to see Dr. Skoly so I was quickly able to obtain that from my dentist and the receptionist Isabella at Dr Skoly's office was able to squeeze me in a couple hours after I got the referral.

They made an appointment for the fitting, which was supposed to be on September 23rd. We were contacted today, September 18th, letting us know that our insurance would not authorize the treatment without trying a CPAP first. I spent several hours speaking to different departments at our insurance company to find out the procedure and after much research and speaking with a high level supervisor, it was confirmed to me that we did NOT need any prior authorization, nor does my son need to try a CPAP before getting a mouth guard. When I called the office to discuss this with them, I was met with a rude women who would not allow me to speak. Who in fact told me that I could pay them $2500 upfront and then fight with my insurance company to be paid back. She was a receptionist...not even billing! Do not go to this dentist office is you would like to ask questions or advocate for yourself. They do not want to hear anything at all and think they know what they are talking about...not to mention WAY overpriced. I called my own dentist and asked about a mouth guard and was told is was only $1500 and we could submit the claim. Awful!!!

Terrible terrible office. I feel like I was scammed…read more This office is scammy and rude. I had a cleaning and full exam in the previous city I lived (Tampa) in June, which I shared. I was told that the office here likes to do their own X-Rays for new patients, which we did, and I assumed it would be billed as something other than standard annual X-Rays. They didn't think to tell me I was going to have to pay entirely out of pocket for them, or that they hadn't yet received the X-Rays from my prior office, despite me filling out a form that asked for my last cleaning and me mentioning while in the exam chair about when I had X-Rays done in June. I saw earlier this month that I was charged $100 because insurance of course only covers one standard annual X-ray per year. When I spoke to whoever answered the phone, they hadn't received the EOB from Cigna yet so I called back a few weeks later and the woman was incredibly rude and unhelpful. She kept repeating herself over and over. As a side note: the fluoride treatment is somewhere around $60 and takes 15 seconds. Everywhere else I've been has been around $20. Place feels like one big scam.

5 Stars for Dr. Gomes / 1 Star for Billing Operations…read more Dr. Ashley Gomes is an AMAZING dentist. She listens, takes pride in her work, and I'd be surprised if there's a better dentist out there. My family stayed with this practice for years because of her talent, despite noticing high turnover among the hygiene and office staff. Unfortunately, a recent issue with the billing department ruined our experience. After receiving an unexpected charge that was not disclosed prior to treatment, I attempted to resolve it via email. I received a brief, abrasive response alongside a hand-scribbled bill that lacked clear explanation. To clarify the charge, a Cigna insurance representative joined me on a conference call to advocate on my behalf. During that call, the billing staff member, Colin, was dismissive, repeatedly interrupted the representative, and became heated when challenged. While Cigna successfully got the inaccurate charge waived, our reward for advocating for transparent billing was receiving a certified letter terminating our care. Dr. Gomes is one of the best dentists around, but the unprofessionalism and hostility from her administrative team ultimately forced us out. I strongly encourage management to review phone recordings with Cigna so Dr. Gomes understands how her patients are being treated behind closed doors.

So it was time for me to go back because I knew I needed a dental cleaning. I asked a coworker who she went to and she recommended Dr. Matrullo. I booked an appointment and I was pleasantly surprised that they are literally 1 mile from my home. Walking into the office I found it very visually beautiful. Upon check-in I did the necessary paperwork and after that I was greeted by a wonderful hygienist named Tara. She took X-rays and then started to gently scrape my teeth. She always asked if I felt any pai, which I didn't. Once the cleaning was done, the younger son, Dr. Matrullo came in to asses my fillings to make sure they were all intact. He asked if I had any concerns and I said yes, I don't like the overcrowding of my teeth since I had braces years ago. He recommended an orthodontist who specializes in Invisalign. Overall this is by far the most wonderful experience I've ever endured regarding dentistry. The customer service is Top Notch, the dentist was very knowledgeable and kind. They have not updated their website, they have billing problems and the front desk employees at the Portsmouth office are extremely rude. For the 1st time in 24 years, I called with an emergency and left messages daily but no one called back even after 1 week. It is inconceivable that there are now 5 doctors and no one is monitoring the phones. They finally got me in a week later at the Newport office. The employees there were wonderful. The front desk people in Portsmouth are sadly lacking people skills, are rude and talk over you and not let you finish a sentence. After calling several times asking for help, Ariana put the phone on auto-answer for the remaining office time of one hour. It is unacceptable to treat a valued patient like this. Additionally, they are no longer accepting certain insurances. After 24 years, this practice management is down the drain. My husband and many other patients are leaving this practice.
