I called and they got me in for the next day, paperwork was sent immediately and they followed up to make sure my insurance info was correct so I would be covered (I was recently married and hadn't changed my name on the insurance yet). Lupe was fantastic and extremely thorough with my visit. She told me exactly what she was doing before she did it, made sure I was comfortable and was overall so kind and informative. She told me about some services they provide (Invisalign, cancer screenings, etc) but did not put any pressure on me whatsoever. Dr. Little came in and made sure all of my concerns were addressed. I'm 80 years old, and on the day of my appointment for my 6 month cleaning, her office called to say she would no longer wanted me as a patient because I would not concent to tooth scaling and root planing. Because my teeth were not bleeding and the expense was prohibitive I told her I just wanted my teeth cleaned as usual. She said she would not do that she did not want me as a patient and that her dad no longer worked in the office anymore. I trusted this office because it came highly recommended, and as a Black-owned dental practice, I genuinely wanted to support them. Unfortunately, I now feel that the number of patients moving through the office was prioritized over the quality of each patient's care. Dr. Aubert completed my root canal and placed a crown on tooth #19. After the crown later came off, my new dentist examined the tooth and documented a thin layer of old cement, recurrent decay and soft dentin beneath the buildup, excess gutta-percha from the root canal, remnants of temporary filling material, and a cotton pellet still inside the tooth. The affected area reportedly extended beneath the buildup and was approximately seven millimeters deep. My new dentist had to remove the old buildup and decay, rebuild the core of my tooth with fiber-reinforced material, clean the crown, and cement it back into place. The prognosis for the tooth is now described as "guarded to good." I was also uncomfortable that someone who appeared to be a trainee performed part of my molding and crown-placement process, while the dentist mainly came in to examine the work. I cannot speak to the office's internal protocols, but patients should be clearly informed about who is treating them and receive honest explanations throughout every procedure. This experience taught me how difficult it can be to advocate for yourself when you do not understand dental terminology or procedures. Patients trust medical professionals to protect them--not to take advantage of what they do not know. I am sharing my experience because the outcome could have been much worse. I hope it encourages others to ask questions, request their records, and seek a second opinion when something does not feel right. I am incredibly grateful that I found Dental Partners of Creve Coeur. For the first time, a dentist took the time to explain everything clearly, show me what was happening, and correct the problems that were found. That honesty, patience, and transparency have made a life-changing difference for me.

I am writing to respectfully follow up, as I have not yet received a response. I am requesting reimbursement for the $300 I paid out of pocket for my recent visit. My concern is primarily the lack of communication regarding the visit being treated as a patient-pay expense. Had I been informed of this in advance, I would have had the opportunity to make an informed decision about whether to proceed with the appointment. I understand that patients with in-network insurance benefit from negotiated rates between their insurance providers and the dental practice. I also specifically asked on August 5 whether a reduced rate could be considered, but I did not receive a response to that question. I believe it is important for patients to be informed of their financial responsibility before services are provided, particularly when a visit will not be processed through insurance as the patient may reasonably expect. In my experience with healthcare providers, insurance information and expected patient responsibility are typically confirmed before treatment. I have been a loyal patient of South Hampton Dentistry for many years and have always valued the quality of care I have received, particularly from your hygienist. This was the first dentist (or doctor of any kind) that provided this kind of transparency in billing. My dental hygienist, Jeanie, was very kind and patient with me. She also helped me out with my dental hygiene by teaching me better ways to floss and brush my teeth. Dr. Allen himself was knowledgeable and took great care of me.
