Dr. Allen's office is great! From the time I entered the office to the time I was ready to check out, everyone was helpful and friendly. I have insurance, and they were able to run my insurance and provide me the pricing BEFORE I was seen so no surprises! This was the first dentist (or doctor of any kind) that provided this kind of transparency in billing. My dental hygienist, Jeanie, was very kind and patient with me. She also helped me out with my dental hygiene by teaching me better ways to floss and brush my teeth. Dr. Allen himself was knowledgeable and took great care of me. I have been back, for some fillings, and the estimate that was provided me on how long it would take was spot on. Dr. Allen did a great job explaining the process to me and did such a great job I was in no pain afterwards. read more

Dr. Allen and his staff truly are the ideal "Dentist on the Hill". They have welcomed us to the neighborhood while providing tremendous attentiveness and individualized care. If you don't find the experience to your liking, I'd wager you wouldn't know St. Louis from Shinola either. Plus the playlists are EPIC!!!! read more

How much can you say about a dentist? All I had was my cleaning/ checkup. I didn't talk to Jason all that much. He came across as kind, professional, and competent throughout our interaction. Most of my time was with the dental hygienist, and she's great. I normally dislike going to the dentist, and she did a great job putting me at ease and making the experience as painless as possible. I've already scheduled my next appointment here. read more

There are few people who actually want to visit a dentist but I generally schedule a visit every 6 months and I've always had a good experience even with several moves because of work. I've heard stories that a good dentist is hard to find and this experience with Allen's office proved just that. In general, I found the office with a staff that was extremely relaxed. My appointment followed lunch so I'm guessing folks were out on lunch or staying in for lunch. My welcome was lack luster and I was told to wait. They have a decent waiting area. After 15 minutes, the dental hygienist called me back, we did xrays and then she started with her cleaning... That's where things really got interesting. The hygienist says to me, "When was your last cleaning?" I told her it was 7, maybe 8 months since I moved to St. Louis about that time back and had a cleaning before I left the Jersey area. She then says she'll need to schedule another time for me to come in and walks out of the room. I'd say a solid 15-20 minutes go by and I'm just laying on this chair, leaned back and then she reappears and says, "Ok. We are going to do a light cleaning and have the dentist do his exam." I figured this was alright so she went ahead and did the cleaning which was by far the fastest and lightest teeth cleaning I've ever had. Then the dentist walks in. Butchers my name and then starts his exam. As I'm laid back with a bright light in my face, the dentist says, "Is there anything else you'd like to ask me about today?" I was confused by the question...so I asked, "Like what?" The dentist replies, "Well, do you like what you see when you look in the mirror?" I kid you not, I was like whoa, what. So again, I said "What do you mean?" So the dentist says, "Well, like with your smile." I was a little surprised (and wondering what the hell happened to my smile since I've been in the chair), so I reply, "Doc, folks often say I have a nice smile." With that, the dentist replies, "Well that's subjective. They don't know. I see your smile and I see where it's not right." Yep. He said it. Just like that. I wanted to just get out of the chair but decided I'd have my say here with a review. There are way too many other dentists in town to spend your money with. I've never experienced a dentist like this and hope I never do again. read more

Fillings and a crown were easy and pain free. Appreciate the pleasant office environment and location in the City!

Dr Allen is our family dentist. He is extremely good at what he does. He is a perfectionist, takes time with his patients, and always makes me feel comfortable. I would recommend Dr Allen and his staff to anyone. read more

I have been going to Dr. Allen's office for two years now, after switching from a very long time family dentist. I couldn't be happier! You enter a very hip newly remodeled office(that plays great music for all ages) and then you are greeted with a very pleasant and helpful receptionist. You are then placed into the very capable hands of the dental hygienist. She gives you a very thorough but not painful...at all, cleaning. I used to be a white knuckled patient with no patience, not anymore! She is fabulous! Dr. Allen then comes in and examines your teeth/mouth with great detail. I have only been to 2 dentists in my entire life and I feel very confident and comfortable that I have made the right choice in changing. I highly recommend checking out this dentist office! read more

I found this dentist because his daughters go to my sons school so I made an appt for my son with him. We walk in the office and we are the onyl ones there so the wait was probaly 2-3 minutes which is a plus when you have a kid. The actual patients room was very small though. It could hold my son in the chair, the dentist, and the assistant. I had to watch from the hall. Dr. Allen was very friendly and explained everything he was doing. But at the end of the appt. he said Tyler had a cavity but he couldn't really fill it for us because he is not equipped for the nitrous. So I would probably recommend him for adults only but not so much the children. read more

I went to Dr. Allen because he was the closest dentist to my house that took my insurance. I called to schedule an appointment and was able to get in really fast thought there office was cute. Also both of the radios in the rooms I was in where tuned to KDHX, so that was pretty cool. Bonus for me that after not going to the dentist in 8 years I only had 5 cavities. read more

Dr. Allen is my fourth dentist throughout my dental health history. He is an excellent dentist who moved into The Hill neighborhood to take over the practice of a retiring dentist and it coincided with my move the neighborhood in 2008.I have been so pleased with his staff as well as his ability as a dentist. I trust him and have never had any pain or issues after a visit. My husband has also been happy, which is saying alot since he had a terrible experience as a teenager and getting him to go to the dentist is an amazing feat in itself. He also appreciates Dr. Allen's skills and he feels comfortable around him. I highly recommend. read more

Dr Allen is the most gentle and patient dentist I have ever met. He also does excellent work. I had problems with several fillings ever since my metal fillings were replaced with composite fillings by another dentist several years ago. Many of the newer fillings either fell out or were worn out the first year. I had one filling either repaired or replaced 4 times by three different dentists. Dr Allen repaired it over three years ago and it's still in great shape. I first rated Dr Allen at 4 stars, but after a few years as a patient, I've got to give him 5 stars. He is by far the best dentist I've had, and I would dread having to find a replacement. read more

I can honestly say that I have never written a review before, but after seeing my teeth.. It was a must! I've always had the worst experience at the dentist, probably why I hadn't gone in a few years. Dr. Allen and his team totally changed my mind after such a positive experience. I went in for a general cleaning, and came out with the whitest smile I have had since my teeth grew in. I drink 4 iced teas a day.. staining gone!!! I am pleased as a pickle. I cannot wait to go back for my next appointment; I am comfortable showing my teeth again, and its a great feeling. Ps. My husband is as grumpy as they come, and he even smiled after looking at his teeth in the mirror. Two thumbs up! read more

I have been going to Dr. Allen's office for 3 years and love this office! The staff is friendly and always make me feel welcome. I have never even had to sit in the waiting room before I am taken back. They are always ready and waiting for me. I have had everything from basic cleanings to more thorough procedures. The hygienist does a very thorough cleaning and is gentle, respectful and friendly. Dr. Allen is very knowledgeable, trustworthy and always listens to my concerns. I have never experienced pain in any of the procedures I have had, including fillings and a crown. The office is very state of the art modern and beautiful. I have referred a couple friends to Dr. Allen as well and I highly recommend this warm, caring, professional staff! read more

This really is the best you can find as far as a Dentist goes. Very gentle, patient, and understanding. I had some composite fillings done on my front teeth two years ago by a dentist who was terrible, and the color didn't match. I had one cavity that needed filling as well, and had need of a cleaning. The cleaning was good. I have a phobia of needles and getting shots, especially in my mouth, and was very nervous the day of the appointment. Dr Allen was very gentle, and I hardly noticed the injection until my teeth and gum started to go numb. He replaced the one off-color filling that was already in place, and did the other one I needed in the front. I am simply amazed at the results. The fillings look amazing, and I have absolutely NO sensitivity! Simply AMAZING!!! I am sooo happy I went to Dr Allen instead of anyone else, and plan to be a regular patient as the need arises. read more

Dr. Allen and his staff are kind, courteous, and professional. The attention to detail, care, and thoroughness cannot be matched. I have been to other dental offices and have never experienced such expertise that Dr. Allen and his staff provided. The office is neat and clean, and is located on the hill which makes it an even more pleasant experience. I plan to be a life-long patient and highly recommend Dr. Allen. read more

They OVERCHARGE you!!! I was happy with them until this year. I prepaid an estimated amount for my procedure. They failed to provide enough material, so my insurance company refused to pay that charge as "the documentation provided does not support the necessity for a buildup". I asked them to provide extra material, which they did not. So they let me pay for that part of procedure entirely by myself. That is insane, as my insurance company covers 80%, if they filed properly. It seems more likely that they charged me for a procedure was really not necessary and did not want to refund. I would have not noticed if I did not check on my claim summary. But they refused after several requests, BBB complaint filed, I will see what happens. read more

I I have been going to Dr. Allen's office for about two years now. Before Dr. Allen, I went to my family dentist from childhood. I have enjoyed every visit. The office is clean and comfortable. The staff is efficient and friendly. I highly recommend checking out this dentist office! read more

My mother-in-law recommended Dr. Allen, so we gave him a try. The office is in a charming early mid-century building on the Hill. Waiting room and receptionist were pleasant and I was taken right back. Dental hygienist Jeanie was great! Kind, gentle, low-key, and full of educational advice. Dr. Allen was somewhat subdued (maybe he's shy?), but when I asked a question about protecting my kids teeth, he came alive. He gave me a thorough 10-minute explanation about the hows and whys of tooth decay and what a parent can do about it. I really appreciated the time he took to explain everything. Not rushed like other dentists. He didn't try to push any smile improvements on me--didn't even mention it--just checked my teeth, answered questions, and then said thanks. We have since brought both our children here (ages 8 and 4) and again Jeanie was great with them. So nice to have a quality, convenient dentist in the City! read more
