Sitting at lab waiting on order for bloodwork to be sent by doctor Wierschem's office. Appointment has been scheduled for a month. I've now been waiting 40 minutes. Extremely screwed up office e respect to handling billing and insurance. Very hard to speak with the appropriate administrator there, and they struggle to handle when your insurance changes. Never actually got to see the physician. I have been currently been having other medical issues so I was unable to respond to their first 2 return calls. I called and left a message on a Friday and the call was finally returned on Tuesday. The intake coordinator for new patients is extremely rude and had a "Karen" attitude like she can't be bothered and her time is being wasted. She immediately attacked me for not being able to respond to the first 2 calls. If this is the attitude of all the MD's staff, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. This doctor could not have retired soon enough. Arrogance and lack of any empathy is the only way to describe him. My husband was brushed off every visit and his ever-climbing PSA numbers were just ignored other than prescribing worthless antibiotics for his CANCER. He finally saw a new urologist and learned more in one visit than in the 5-6 visits with this doctor who was nothing but rude and condescending. The new doctor is appalled at the terrible care he has received thus far and is very concerned that his cancer may have spread due to this doctor's negligence. We already lost one of his cousins sand almost lost his brother to prostate cancer, which this doctor was made well aware. If there is any spread, we will be seeking an attorney. read more

This guy is the most arrogant doctor I've ever met. Wouldn't even let me tell him a quarter of my problems I was facing and just threw a prescription at me that I didn't need. The most rude doctor I've ever been to. Go somewhere else, this guy is a total jerk. This guy was laughing with his nurse about the problem I was facing. Didn't even want to treat me or hear me out. Office staff is rude and does not return phone calls. Doctor is arrogant and has little respect for his patients. He and his staff are unprofessional and fail to display even the basics of good patient relations. Most doctors offices will call you if there is a problem, but this place will not. I have dealt with many doctor's offices and I understand it's a common practice to withhold medications if you haven't been there for a while. However, this is the only one I've ever seen that will not at least let you know there is a problem. They seem take some kind of weird joy in punishing you. Neither the office or the doctor think they should call you if there is a problem. They just let you try to figure it out. read more

Dont know about the Dr, but his front office, specifically Cindy, is extremely RUDE. If she is ANY example of the Dr's service... she scared me away. I went to the consult, was calling to get a detailed quote in writing, Cindy acted like that was absolutely crazy, why would I want to go to a doctor who is not capable of providing a treatment plan or quote in writing even more one who has 'Cindy's' work ethic and customer service ability. I guess maybe Cindy just saved me from making a decision to go with her employer, provably would have regretted it. THANKS CINDY!!! read more

Had to go in several times because Dr. Wierschem only wanted to run one test at a time (UA & blood--both showed negative results), then when I didn't sign up for getting an endoscope shoved up my U tube (he said it's his "bread & butter"), attempted scare tactics on me. Of course, every time it's a charge to both me and my insurance company. Cha-ching! I know BS when hear it, even from an MD. His front office is also inefficient. I had to fill out the ENTIRE set of paperwork again after the new year began. Nothing, even insurance, hadn't changed. Went to another urologist who did a proper diagnosis & treatment recommendation in one session. There are better docs out there. read more

I'm guessin' most married couples at one time or another will have a conversation that goes a little like this...."don't you think we should do something about birth control now that we don't plan to have any more kids?? Then it becomes a choice to see whose gonna go see the doctor...the wife to get her tubes tied and/or some other procedure or the husband for the vasectomy??? Anyway, in 2006 this is kinda sorta how this issue began between wifey and I. After being the one to step up & handle my business so to speak, let's fast forward 1 year to 2007 (it took me that long to AGREE to have it done). After being referred by my primary doctor I checked out Dr Wierschem in December 2007 for first a consultation visit. He came off as a warm, humorous and chatty guy. This was about the time Washington Redskin safety Sean Taylor was fatally shot in the groin area so Dr Mike shared his opinion about how Sean's injury could prove to be extremely fatal just based on the artery the bullet hit. Sean later died of course, but just that conversation with Dr Mike made me feel comfortable he knew what he was doing. Anyway, knowing I had a MILLION questions, he was very patient while letting me know the procedure was fairly routine and in the end I'd be very pleased with the results. His consultation included explaining the procedure, showing me pictures which broke down exactly what things looked like 'before and after' and pamplets which also helped ease my mind. At the end of the consultation I then made my appointment to see him again 2 weeks later. Ok, so 2 weeks later I come in for the vasectomy and I'm nervous as hell!!!! The wife accompanied me of course for support plus they suggested I have someone drive me home after the procedure. Once there Dr. Mike's staff was excellent in preparing me for what I thought was going to be the biggest regret of my life. His assistant led me to a room, asked me to undress and then said those 7 common words...."the doctor will be with u shortly". About 5-7 minutes later Dr Mike comes in, asks me if I had any questions then proceeded to explain the procedure again. As I lay on the table while he shot me up with novacaine two things were apparent....he was his usual chatty self which at first I wasn't too keen on since my mind was solely focused on the PAIN I just knew I was about to undergo. Secondly, he purposely hid his medical instruments behind his back as he talked to me so as not to make me have a heart attack!!! They must have been HUGE...I don't know, but during the entire procedure I don't ever recall seeing them and that was probably a good thing...smile. About 10 minutes into the surgery I strangely started to feel comfortable and actually welcomed his jokes and conversation. It was like my mind told me it was gonna be alright and after another 10 minutes (20 minutes total) it was all over. As a matter of fact I was actually shocked he was finished so quickly. After it was over Dr Mike suggested I lay there for a few more minutes and not get up till I was ready. He also gave me a few more instructions going forward and then he promptly left the room. About 10 minutes later I gingerly walked back to the waiting area. I was offered some fruit juice as the nursing staff suggested I wait another 10 minutes before proceeding to the car. While there I was the butt of a thousand jokes from my wife who couldn't help but laugh. But you know, I didn't mind cuz IT WAS OVER and quite frankly I had NO PAIN, just a little pressure & that was ok with me. Dr Mike prescribed some pain pills which I never needed, however I did have the wife take me across the street to Krogers for a bag of frozen peas. As a side note I read a bag of frozen peas acts as well as ice to help ease the pressure and boy did it ever!!! I spent the next 24 hours laid up in bed having the wife wait on me hand and foot, but honestly I really didn't even need to be in bed that long!!!! Ok, maybe I 'milked' it a little, but with her constant jokes, I had to get her back...right?? Plus, I had to remind her the great SACRIFICE I endured because I love her...smile. After having the procedure done on Friday I was back to work on Monday just as Dr Mike suggested and I was good to go. Even the pressure had disappeared. One last note, the office suggested I come back in a couple of months with a 'sample' to make sure I was 'sperm free', but I actually never did. That was a personal choice of mine only cuz I felt confident I couldn't produce any more babies and I was correct. It was one of those things that u just know. Looking back, I was definitely pleased with Dr Wierscham's services and would recommend anyone looking for an experienced Urologist, one who is very attentive and understanding that one's 'family jewel's' is not anything to play with. read more

Terrible customer service. I was added , by Dr Ross to the schedule. I would have been a new patient. I did not ask to be added. I arrived 20 min early to do paperwork and was done in time for my appointment. I waited 30 min past my appointment time before asking for a status. I was told they didn't know when I would get in. I asked to speak with a nurse. The nurse told me I had been added to the schedule, the doctor was busy and she didn't know when I could see him. It could be 20 min to an hour. I mentioned that I didn't ask to be added. I also stated I did my part to be early for my appointment and they could have simply provided me with a better time so I wasn't having to wait so long. I asked if this level of service would be what I could expect on future visits, and they said yes. read more

Everytime I have gone to Dr. Wierschem's office it has always been terrible. Either I'm sitting and waiting for over an hour when I was 20 minutes early to my appointment, and once I was in the exam room, I could hear Dr. Wierschem through the wall talking to a patient about golf or fishing for an entire 30 minutes before he came to see me, or I call about an emergency that I may have a massive kidney stone and I need an x-ray before it tries to pass and they tell me how hard it will be for them to get me in so I tell them I will just look for another doctor because this is an emergency then suddenly they can fit me in Wednesday at 1 so I say thank you. I show up, and whoever it was on the phone, who made sure to let me know how much of a favor they were doing me by getting me in, never even put me on the schedule and when I asked if I could see the doctor today they said probably not so I told them I am tired of being screwed over by them and I'll find another doctor. I also ordered a kidney stone analysis, paid for it, and never received it. He may be good in the operating room, but his office is a disaster and after a year nothing has changed. I'll never even attempt to contact this office again and I recommend noone else does either if you value your time, because they sure dont. read more

Do not use this Doctor unless you want an insensitive arrogant Doctor who doesn't really have your best interest in mind. He will talk to you like your an idiot and be very quick to making a diagnosis without getting all your health background. In addition, his office staff doesn't have a clue regarding appointments. It takes days to get a call back. He also insisted I come back into the office to discuss a test, only to tell me I need to see another Doctor and bill me another visit? Dr. Wierschem is an exceptionally intelligent physician. His office staff is polite and accommodating. On both my visits this years I have waited in excess of 30 minutes to 1 hour. That is still not my issue. On my first visit with Dr. Wierschem this year, I was very pleased with his demeanor, level of knowledge, the time he took to answer my questions, and truly felt that I found the best Urologist in the Dallas, Texas area. However, my second visit was quite the opposite. Dr. Wierschem was quick, abrupt in his responses, did not want to hear my questions and responded in a defensive manner. I left feeling like I had just seen a totally different physician than my earlier visit. I recognize that we all periodically have a bad day but to not listen and answer defensively is not appropriate in any profession, especially one as a physician that we rely on for our life decisions. I will unfortunately be seeking out another Urologist in the future. Disappointed. read more
