We moved to the west coast nearly three years ago so alas are no longer going to Dr. Grosso. Let me just say that the last three years have been an absolute headache trying to find a new dentist that does quality work and as trustworthy as Dr. Grosso: there's simply no comparison. In the last three years: I've gone to five different dentists and each one have provided different treatment plans and prognosis, with the treatment plans always costly proposals. I've had a doctor conduct treatment with inexperienced hygienists where I almost choked, another dentist whose hygienist kept massaging my head and jaw (I went in for an annual cleaning), another dentist who made me take a dozen professional DSLR photos of my teeth in different positions (in addition to x-rays), another who brought up Botox to me as a way to relax my jaw, another to recommend braces, two of them recommended a mouth guard, one recommended two crowns to preemptively protect my weakened teeth while another said just one crown and the other three didn't mention a crown at all. I visited the practice in the days of my baby teeth under Dr. Tylenda, then taken over by Dr. Paul Grosso, and now is in the very capable hands of Dr. Michael Grosso. A second-generation practice with care for the whole person. I sought out a second opinion today and after a check Dr. Grosso assured me that my teeth are just fine, rather than the hasty and pricy recommendation I'd gotten to replace a sealant. I believe his honest recommendation to just keep taking care of my teeth. More than that, however, Dr. Grosso genuinely treated me like an old friend, and my jaw dropped as he gave me a letter he found in my old file, that I'd written to receptionist Ms. Jackie Grosso in 1997. 23 years later, with my teeth still in good shape, I am so thankful to have had the best of teachers. I have been going to Dr. Grosso for six years now. I have always found him to be an excellent dentist and I am very comfortable with the service that he and his dental hygienists provide. He is very friendly and I enjoy seeing him twice a year. Some dentists that I have used in the past always seemed to be trying to pressure me to buy unnecessary cosmetic procedures like teeth whitening. If you want that, all the power to you, but I don't want my dentist trying to pressure me into doing it because he or she makes a lot of money off it. Dr. Grosso is not like that. He performs those services, but he's not twisting your arm every time you are in there to get you to buy the service. His practice is also very family friendly. My daughter was born a couple years ago and he had my wife and I bring her in with us from as early an age as we were comfortable so she would get used to being there. I am happy to say that she had her first dentist appointment recently and was totally comfortable just going back with a hygienist and having her teeth looked at. They always give her little toys and things to make her excited about going, and they definitely worked. Dr. Grosso recently moved offices and is now in a very updated, modern facility. read more

He came out to check on us twice while we waited for roadside assistance. He even offered to help change our flat, but we knew help was on the way. I cannot begin to describe how phenomenal Dr. Grosso is, not only as a dentist but as a person. His staff is unbelievably warm and they make you feel like you're a part of the family. He's jolly and attentive but most of all he is an expert at what he does. I first met Dr. Grosso 10 years ago when I was a full time student and barely making a living wage at my 9-5 admin job. I had been having dental pain for some time so I scheduled an appointment with a provider on my HMO. It took that dentist over six weeks to see me and when I went in she did a quick examination, took a few X-Rays, then proceeded to tell my terrified 20 year-old self that I needed to have FIVE molars extracted immediately. You can imagine how upsetting that news was and I burst into tears while she rolled her eyes and tapped her foot impatiently as I gathered my things and ran out of her office in pain and sobbing. I called my mom and told her the news and while she listened to me sob she told me she was going to make a few calls and call me back shortly. I sat in my car outside of the evil dentists office because I was too upset to drive. She called me back and told me to head straight to Dr. Grosso's. She said that she had just gotten off the phone with Brenda (his wonderful receptionist) and they were willing to see me right away. I drove to his office shaking and weepy but within an hour I was smiling again because of how he treated me. He consoled me by making jokes and promising that everything would be alright. He took X-Rays, performed a comprehensive exam and excitedly told me that I only had one tooth in the far back that would need to be extracted, but he could save the rest. Over the next 3 months, he saw me 1-2 times per week and was able to accommodate my work schedule by letting me come in at 4:30. Sometimes he'd have to work on me until 7 but he never complained. On top of that, his practice didn't take my wretched dental insurance so he told me that as long as I was able to pay him every month we could work out an affordable payment plan. He saved my teeth and 10 years later he is still the only dentist I will ever go to (except for when I lived in another state for 3 years). There are not enough words to describe how much he changed my life. That being said, if you're afraid of the dentist and desire excellent results then you need to make an appointment with Dr. Grosso. You'll be a life-long patient after one visit with him. read more

AWESOME DENTIST! If you want a compassionate, kind, calming and skilled dentist with years of experience, Dr. Grosso is the guy for you. I moved out of the area and went to a new dentist, who shockingly diagnosed me with 14 cavities and needing 2 root canals. I was shocked and frightened for my teeth. I called Dr Grosso for a second opinion. I drove 2 hours to see him. He fit me in the next day, and identified only 2 cavities needing fillings, and proposed a thoughtful plan of improved oral care. The other dental practice felt like a procedure based mill, and financially motivated practice. Dr. Grosso is your kind, caring family dentist. He does only what needs to be done. Very skilled clinician. Pain free. And he's kind and funny to boot. Dr. Grosso compassionately cared for me. In the past, he has patiently and compassionately cared for my dad with Alzheimer's, and the rest of my family for many years. I will now drive hours to get my dental care from him. Because I TRUST him, he explains his care collaboratively, and treats you like a PERSON. And doesn't practice procedure based care just to fill his pockets. He does the right thing. Dr Michael Grosso has been my Dentist for over 3 years. Had tried more than 8 dentists (!) in the D.C. area. Long story... Am very grateful for finding this Dr Grosso's office. Thankfully, his sister owns a bookstore in Winchester. That's how I found the office. The hours are very European. Early hours before work and then evening hours thru 6pm. Midday the office takes a break for lunch. Dr Grosso is an excellent diagnostician who practices gentle dentistry. The type of dentist you can trust. Love the cleanings I get from Tina. I get four cleanings a year and she is one of the most patient, thorough Hygenists' Ove ever used. Had an issue with a tooth a year ago. Had gotten in the habit of flying back to Chicago to the dentist I trust, but this issue came up quickly. I am not a patient yet of Dr. Grosso but had a great experience with him as I was frantically searching for a dentist last night at 6:15 pm for my son who had taken a bad tumble at school. One of his teeth was knocked back, gum area was bleeding and some bad cuts on his lips due to his fall. Anyways, after trying unsuccessfully at other places in the area and calling, I was able to get through to Dr. Grosso. He was on his way to a holiday party but offered to turn around for us given the situation. He even gave me excellent advice on pushing my son's tooth to try to straighten it which will hopefully save his tooth from extraction. He gave solid advice and as I am in the process of looking for a regular dentist, may wind up seeing him myself. read more
